I know this is not stock but maybe some of you would have a look
-
Yes special Nuke from Atomic age, but very heavy.......because no fuel needed
-
On Nukes only you can climb to 14kms, + I did this 1.1.3 on a modded SSTO that separates in rockets from 14kms, kind of launching a rocket at 14kms in Eve atmo, you do not need so much DV then to get in orbit (something like 4000DV ...) Eve atmo being very dense may be you can optimize nukes with very long wings like a glider, then at 14 kms eject wings and nukes and continue on rocket engines with a smaller aircraft. Nukes to climb to 14 kms were the heaviest part....It was 5 giant nuke engines from Atomic Age. I did not think of making a glider because i thought that atmospheric entry would be impossible with a glider.....
-
Here is what i did in 1.1.2 As it is not possible to SSTO from Eve, i design a plane, able to survive atmospheric descent to Eve and then land, explore Eve without mining nor refuelling, and allow the cockpit to join a shuttle waiting in orbit at 110kms. This plane was launched from Kerbin using rockets and bring to Eve by rockets, then it was on its own. From descent to Eve exploration, it's a plane. On its final climb to reach Eve orbit it's a plane launching a rocket in flight... ..It is a modded plane and here is the story.

I don't know if i posted on the right thread. Here is my first run with a wheeled catamaran i used for the Elcano challenge and a vid
-
Hello I just discovered this challenge today and as I won't be here from January 7th to 20th, I am not sure i will finish it. So i decided to use my "Gliding Cheetah" a mix of Big catamaran on Wheel i used to break the Elcano Circumnavigation challenge in 1 day and 5H, but it was mainly in sea.....But the machine is very strong and quite stable on ground. It's a 150T catamaran running TO KE-90 Dudley turbojet and he won't need any refueling to perform the whole race. Mod OPT tanks - B9 wings -MK2 Here are the picture of the run from flag 1 to flag 1 Departure brakes on at 00:4:00 Greatest speed achieved after departure: 133.5m/s. We are often running on our kinetic energy with throttle down..... small jump Longest jump after the last hill before arrival Arrival on flag 2, still at 50m/s, it's not easy to see the flag: Time 10:34 Total time 6:34 i am not sure it will be so easy in the mountain.... I made a small film if you need

Orbit Portal Showroom [Show me your OPT Spaceplanes!]
gilflo replied to JadeOfMaar's topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
J61 engines push you to 38kms with the help of Nukes at 24 kms. At 38 kms you switch off J61 and if you have enough speed the nukes will lead you to orbit -
738T on low flight, low speed high AOa around Kerbin base

Orbit Portal Showroom [Show me your OPT Spaceplanes!]
gilflo replied to JadeOfMaar's topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
HI guys Here is my new SSTO: OPT S88: study and design coming from my last OPT Tanker K87. It begins with a J space plane cockpit followed by a J lab and a K section adapter. Then it's Avatar fuel tanks because they hold much more fuel than the K tanks... - S for science, it comes with an OPT J lab and a lot of science stuff in the hold as 2 SC 9001 Jr, 4 mysterious goos, and a lot of sensors. SC 9001 are mounted on rail and all data are accessible via ladders. - 88 for 88661L of liquid fuel (Nearly 14 Rockomax 64) that give to this SSTO a maxi range of 6000DV left in orbit, giving ability to join whatever planet in Kerbin system Running on 4 OPT J61 Starwaster, 2 at the front, 2 at the rear and 4 MRS Nuke Quad engines, 2 at the front, 2 at the rear The hold carries 4 big Mining drills, mounted on rails, 1 Convert o Tron 250 and 2 Small Ore tanks. A strong electric circuit, with big batteries from Batt Direct and numerous PB Nuk Thermoelectric generators allow drilling and converting 24H a day and 365 days a year.... 8 6wheels main gears and 2 2wheels directional front gears allow to land this 60m long and 738T SSTO on any rough land provided your vertical speed at touch down is no more than 3m/s. Powerful brakes and 4 repackable chutes allow very short landings. Landing legs at the rear allow vertical landings on low gravity planet and vernors engines situated under and over the cockpit help then to lower the plane to horizontal position as well as for take off. Vernors are associated to SpaceY RCS thrusters to help maneuvers and docking. the S88 is perfectly balanced in the whole flight enveloppe, dry and fueled COG being nearly at the same place and she climb easily to orbit, leaving 70% of fuel in 610 km orbit. Look in the hold After take off Climbing to orbit Mun retroburning Mun landing: It was quite difficult as we landed on a slope Vertical from vertical position to horizontal position Drilling and converting collecting datas Departure from Mun: we had to maneuver slowly to set the S88 in the slope, with wings horizontal, to help for take off Between Mun mountains No so much space Aerobraking: return to Kerbin Approach Landing -
Stellaris is a giant SSTO cargo plane carrying a 18T-10000DV Reckon Satellite and an AESV (autonomous vehicule for science and exploration) 41.7T-9600DV. Stellaris range once in 610km orbit is still 6600 DV which means she can far away in Kerbol space. The man gear of this SSTO is made of 20 6WHEELS gears and the front gear get 4 2Wheels directionnal gears. With thoses gears and 4 repackable chutes, she can land very shortly everywhere on rough terrain and you can try Kerbin base runway but be carefull because she as large as the runway, there's no margin..... Here it isMark IV fuselage with Vulture cockpit and B9 aerospace Wings, 2 giant turboramjet J61Starwaster 4.0m and 2 Nuke engines 4.2m MRS Quad. View from the hold, Reckon sat on rear, AESV in front AESV is equipped with a lab and various science experiment stuff as Mysterious Goo or SC-9001. MK2 cockpit , 4 vertical "Lightbulb" nuke engines from Atomic Age, 6 mini drills, 1 Converter and 1 Ore tank. Many generatots and batteries allow sufficienr energy to drill and convert simultaneously. They are hidden in hold and aft in cockpit. It is perfectly balanced with same dry and fueled COG. Vertical engines allow easy VTOL landing capability and local travel on low gravity planets. Its high range allow interplanetary travel. It is not protected for atmospheric re-entry and must be docked in a cargo for Kerbin return. Its Nuke engines will always overheat, but stay in limits. AESV rear view Lightbulb nuke engines can be fitted with Tweakscale to whatever TWR you need to meet the TWR requirements of any planet whose TWR is lower than Kerbin Taking off for Mun Climb 45 degrees Altitude 20kms Altitude 30 kms, J61 engines being overpowered, we get 56 kms apoapsis Coasting on nuke engines, TWR only 0.16 Circularization at 610 kms Before Mun burn:: 78% fuel left and more than 6600DV For undocking, i got some troubles, AESV was fliping upside down and i found how to proceed after a few try. Space is very narrow each side of the hold and te's no margin. 1/Select "control from here" from docking port you want to decouple, to get the same control origin for both vessels 2/Switch off l Mechjeb ASS if it is on 3/Stabilize the cargo vessel, in prograde for example 4/Set SAS in hold position - Hit F 5/Deco. Rear flip here, but that was before i found how to proceed. Then i undocked the satellite and try immediately to redock AESV,. As there is no margin, i use Docking port alignment indicator, the cockpit facing the rear of the SSTO. Here is how i proceed for this "no margin" docking 1/Stabilize cargo vessel and select as Target the vessel you want to dock, then MechJeb ASS TGT>TGT+ . It allows to the cargo to stay aligned on the other vessel while you are struggling with the docking manouver on the other vessel. 2/Select also Mechjeb ASS TGT>TGT+ on the vessel ou are going to dock 3/When you do that nearly align and less than 200m , you can let both vessel align themselves, it will work. 4/Switch on RCS And use translation switches to align green DPAI cross on yellow circle. In this case ou also have to use flight controls to perfectly align heading of the AESV to the cargo heading as there's no margin to enter the hold. Here it is But docking was rejected. I think it is because it was not in initial position. Here AESV cockpit is facing the rear of the SSTO, 180 degrees from initial position so i performed a 180 and re dock and it works! Satellite is scanning the Mun Now we are going to land AESV on Mun, using "control from here" from docking port which is align with the engines .Automatic descent to see if everything is working fine. But Mechjeb is not so good, nose is going up and down to much. Next time i'll do it manually. Landed, not far from an anomaly where we will jump next time We will try local flight using TCA and also using manual control from cockpit. l

Ok, thank's I'll look at that

Hey Allista Any chance to add the ability to add waypoints via ScanSat Map or via coordinates? Map view is not accurate at all for jump travel near ground on a planet

[1.0.2] B9 Aerospace | Procedural Parts 0.40 | Updated 09.06.15
gilflo replied to bac9's topic in KSP1 Mod Development
It works perfectly, but don't download from this links Go here:https://github.com/Crzyrndm/B9-PWings-Fork Download this and go here to download latest version and put both folder in your game data folder -
@Draalo Thank you. You got the right answer. 1/ Same "Control from here for both vessel 2/ Mechjeb smart ASS of if in use 3/ Just stabilize vessel in a position, prograde or whatever 4/ SAS on hold position (Keybinding F) 5/ decouple node I tried a redocking in this very narrow hold for the AESV and it worked perfectly provided i set the AESV in the same position as when it was on dock: cockpit in the same direction than the main cockpit Vessel. Thank's again guys!!

Hi I built a giant cargo SSTO and set inside the hold a ship docked with 2 clamp o tron. I built the ship, set its docking port on COG, let's say it's the male, then I took the female Clamp o tron, reversed it and it fitted perfectly the male docking port. I took a Girder adapter, put it on the reversed docking port designed it as being the root part. Then I set the ship in my subassemblies section Here you can see the ship, coming from subassemblies section and stuck by its root part on another Girder adapter and you can see the settings of the 2 docking ports, that are set to minimum. Then i set this ship in a hold, the girder adapter fitting another Girder adapter in the hold of the cargo and you see it here. My question is: The cargo being stable in orbit, all yaw, roll and pitch indicators in neutral position, on Retrograde or prograde or whatever, the ship being held by the docking port on its COG, Why, when I decouple the node for undocking, is my ship pulled out going upside down on pitch axe or rolling also upside down on roll axe, even with the ejection force set to 0??? question 2: the docking ports setting seems self explanatory: do you have 2 set the settings on both ?

[1.3.0] Kerbal Engineer Redux 1.1.3.0 (2017-05-28)
gilflo replied to cybutek's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Can you look at this, I do not know if it is a bug or something different. The TWR should be here 0.16 as it is indicated by Mechjeb. That's the design and that's what is giving as TWR in the SPH with only Nuke engines running in VAC. Why is KER showing 0.65??? Here we are in VAC and the target is the Mun. Is KER showing Mun TWR? -
Stellaris, giant cargo, Vulture Mark IV cockpit and fuselage - B9 wings, empty weight 1356T, Freight: AESV + satelitte, total weight 60T, 6500 DV in orbit, on course to Mun for flight test. AESV is an autonomous exploration and science vehicle designed with Vertical positioned engine that allow easy landing and regional flights on planets. Its 10000DV range allow interplanetary flight. Climb to orbit Overheat Before Mun burn AESV equipped with 4 mini drills, 1 converter, 1 lab and many science experiment stuff

OK thank you

Hello Can somebody explain the 3 states of reaction wheels:? Normal, SAS and pilot only Do their actions add when there more than 1 reaction wheel on same axe? Thank you

Hi guys, Here is the Stellaris, a MarkIV-B9 wings giant SSTO cargo and tanker working on 2 huge tweakscaled J61 Starwaster engines and 2 Mrs Quad Nuke engines for interplanetary flight. She is carrying AESV 41.8T and 10000DV and a 17T -9600DV Reckon satellite and can climb to a 600kms orbit with more than 6000DV left allowing long interplanetary flights. Stellaris sits on 20 -6 wheels main gears and 4 -2 Wheels directional wheels allowing landing on rough land at full weight providing VS do not exceed 3m/s. 4 repackable chutes allow short distance landings. With the freight AESV is an autonomous exploration science véhicule, carrying a lab and all the stuff to run experiences. it can also detect Ore, drill it and convert it. She runs on 4 "Lightbulb" nuke engines from Atomic Age.Those Engines are tweakscaled to reach a 1.64 Mun TWR and provide 10000DV allowing AESV interplanetary flights. Its engine are fitted vertically allowing easy landings and also short jumps around a planet. She can use TCA to help, but she is very well balanced Dry and Full COM being the same. A lot of generators allow non stop drilling and converting. Engine can be tweakscaled to met any TWR requirements. But she is not protected for atmospheric flights. Nuke engines will always overheat, but stays in limit. Overheating du to atmospheric transition would make nuke engines temperature overcome the limit and they would explode. So she must dock in a cargo to be brought back to Kerbin. Drillers and converter

I am also working on a Mark IV-B9 wings Cargo tanker of 1300T able to carry my AESV and a reckon satellite. She so big because I wanted her to be able to carry freight far away without refueling. She gets more than 6000DV left in orbit.... sShe is powered by 2 giant OPT J61starwaster and to giants MRS Quad Nuke engines AESV is an autonomous science véhicule 42T 10000DV with a lab, able to do science and to drill and converts ore to fuel. 4 atomic bulb engines in vertical position allows interplanetary flights, and easy jump flights on planet. It cannot fly in atmosphere as it is not protected against overheating and as its engines are always overheating but stay in limit when in vacuum. It's also impossible to use them in transitional flight as aircraft overheating will make them explode. Final version with Drills and converter at the rear Stellaris hold with Satellite and AESV Stellaris climbing to orbit AESV on Mun
