1000 people saying it once: Valid point. 1 person saying it 1000 times: Ranting. Could you at least link to this long list of great ideas for gameplay that mods have never done? The main thing that attracts me to this DLC is the idea of robotics with a decent interface. I've never, ever liked the interface for IR. I also hated the UIs for FAR and ScanSat. When Squad "just" copied those mods and put them in the game, they did so with a bang-up UI. THAT is what I'm hyped for here. Not robotics. Robotics I'll actually want to use.

Do DLCs get a hype train or a lesser hype vehicle?
Superfluous J replied to Nightside's topic in KSP1 Discussion
We've not really had hype anythings for several releases, DLC or not. -
Yeah but these days one in every... I don't know something like 10 or 20... gets a texture like this. Oh you're right. Black monolith on black space background. I guess someone's playing with entities.

Kerbal Space Program Breaks Ground with a New DLC!
Superfluous J replied to UomoCapra's topic in 2019
There are three tiers of post-release content: things that everybody thinks should be free, things that everybody thinks is ok to be paid, and the contentious stuff that some are ok paying for and others think should be free. You'll be hard pressed to find someone outside the boardrooms out the worst companies who thinks bug fixes should be paid. Skins and dances and that garbage can be paid. I don't want it anyway and wouldn't probably download it even if it was free. But if they want to keep the lights on, they need to charge for something that's actually worth paying for.- 1,121 replies

Hah. Well that's a fine turn of events then. I noticed the Pleiades but Taurus and Orion didn't seem to be there. I didn't look too close though, only noted it for later scrutiny.

Kerbal Space Program Breaks Ground with a New DLC!
Superfluous J replied to UomoCapra's topic in 2019
It was not arbitrary, except that back in that month they announced that if you bought it then expansions would be free. If they extended it now, years later, for you, why not extend it to June for me? Then July, August, etc? Or how would you feel if you bought it early before KSP was famous and then others who did not take the chance got what you were promised was a reward for your generosity and trust?- 1,121 replies

Kerbal Space Program Breaks Ground with a New DLC!
Superfluous J replied to UomoCapra's topic in 2019
In Astroneer you can cut a PLANET in HALF with the terrain deformation tool. And really all I'd like in KSP is a way to flatten (to a certain altitude above/below sea level around the center of the planet) an area to make a base. And then base building tools so I can land raw materials there and turn them into a "mining module" or a "habitation module" or a "construction module" or a landing pad or a... and all these modules would be one-piece so the entire base is no more than a dozen or so parts, one per module.- 1,121 replies

Kerbal Space Program Breaks Ground with a New DLC!
Superfluous J replied to UomoCapra's topic in 2019
I will admit I was hoping for base building and/or terrain deformation/smoothing in this update, based on the name. I'm happy with what they did put in it, don't get me wrong. But that'd have been cool- 1,121 replies

For years I've had this idea of "Learn by doing" where you'd unlock tech nodes (or individual parts) by doing things, not by collecting science points. Larger tanks get unlocked by using a sufficiently large number of smaller tanks in a line. Engines get unlocked by either using a cluster of smaller engines (for a larger engine) or using one of the smallest (but still way too large) engines you do have to move a very small craft. Adapters just unlock along with the larger or smaller fuel tanks, and most structural parts are available from the start. I never got the gumption to code it properly. I fiddled with the idea of making it a contract pack but it got more and more complicated until it wasn't even what I first set out to do. Then I dropped it. As far as I know it still works but I'd not be at all surprised if it didn't.

New skybox you say? Why no, I've never heard of that one before.

Restart the game from scratch every career. Copy the entire KSP folder to a new place, wipe everything from GameData except Squad and SquadExpansion, Decide what your new career is going to NEED for mods, and then selectively copy only those mods over. Of course, then you will just have dozens of different installs but I assume your problem is load time, not "I want less stuff on my drive." If it's the latter I can't help you as there is no real practical reason to not have as many ksp folders as you want.

Kerbal Space Program Breaks Ground with a New DLC!
Superfluous J replied to UomoCapra's topic in 2019
If the internal hooks are so good and so easy to use that IR is so much better and easier to code with them, then maybe just maybe it's worth paying for? And if it IS dropped, then surely some other modder will come in and pick it up to keep it working in the non-DLC game. Unless they all buy the DLC too. But then, you could pick it up and maintain it. I mean, it's important, right? I know it's important to me. That's why I'll be buying the DLC the moment it drops. Well, the moment I wake up after it drops, if the timing is anything reasonable. I do see it, even though I don't agree with it I do understand your concerns. I'm far more concerned that Squad will otherwise stop working on the game due to lack of revenue.- 1,121 replies

Multi contract,one craft?

They're 3-star contracts you'll start seeing once you visit enough interplanetary bodies. -
Is Squad planning to change campaign gameplay?
Superfluous J replied to Corw's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Yeah why can you add a massive fuel tank but not 2 thermometers? I always thought VAB should affect craft size and Launchpad should affect mass. Period. -

No. The only time order matters is when a contract states something like, "...and finally, land on Kerbin." -

Are you assuming Infernal Robotics is going to stop existing when this drops? Did replica part packs vanish when Making History dropped?- 1,121 replies
