  1. Also, in the first post. I tried it in my signature (but then removed it because it'd be lying for me) and it looks fine.
  2. Funny answer: because of this: Serious answer: I do not share your opinion but I do truly sympathize in an almost visceral way. This is how I felt after the barn (and seemingly all ksc upgrades thereafter) was cut due to fan backlash, when I realized that I just lost something I would enjoy and never once stood up and said it when there was time. From that moment on I decided that no matter how angry those I didn't agree with were at Squad, I'd voice my opinion so there was at least one person speaking for me before anybody makes any decision. Also: I have found sorting but mass to be a godsend. I may look into making it the default.
  3. Or 1. use the Twitch to get your craft over the water. 2. Parachute into the water. 3. Click the + button under the twitch in staging to create an empty stage under the engine. 4. Spacebar will re-stage it, testing it. 5. PROFIT.
  4. If you're a mission controller and the astronaut dies it's your fault, and I don't think I could live with that. If you're an astronaut and the astronaut dies you're dead, and I'm SURE I couldn't live with that. So neither. I'll keep my cozy desk job thanks.
  5. I don't like the default terrier, but the trussed one is good and the bare one is possibly my favorite new engine. The new poodle is leaps and bounds better than the old one.
  6. And very well completed it was! I hope to have a badge-sized image tomorrow. Welcome, to the finish line! I'll be joining you there shortly. Or longly, I've not even started designing yet.
  7. You may as well ask them to stop breathing air because it's so smoggy.
  8. Kind of. I have a vector version of the image on the first post that I could make badge sized. Is there an officially recommended badge size?
  9. it's almost as if this thread is stuttering. As far as game stuttering, if I don't pay attention I don't notice it. If I do, I notice it's there but it doesn't bother me. It's worse with more mods.
  10. Evepollo, at over 15 minutes, is more video than the first 5 missions (in three sub-5-minute videos) put together. It probably took that much more real-life time as well
  11. I basically (and inadvertently) copied this design for my own Eve lifter, though it was for one Kerbal, didn't have anything but the engines and tanks and the actual payload stage was totally different. Oh and I used fuel lines like old skool. I thought I was being creative with it but upon seeing this pic, I see I must have seen this first. It's a solid design that even I could fly. I was able to get into orbit from sea level in testing, and had fuel to spare launching from about 1km up in the actual mission.
  12. There are people that enjoy ion engines? I mean USE, sure.
  13. Assuming you're using 1.6.x, the game tells you on the right side in the stating. Each stage's dV is listed, as is the total dV underneath. I suggest clicking the dV button along the bottom to change it to Vacuum, even though you start in the atmosphere you spend most of your time there, and most of us around here use the Vacuum dV numbers even in atmospheres. 3000 is possible but not likely. 3300-3500 is more reasonable. 4000 if you're sloppy and 4500 if you follow a tutorial from 2014.
  14. Could you point out the parts that are not created by SQUAD? I had a glance and the only one from the in-game shots that stood out as not stock is this one. And I don't know part packs very well so I am no expert, but I've never seen them anywhere else either so for all I know Squad DID make them, but decided to not use them. I agree on the Scatterer et al front. Be proud of your base game or make it better yourself.
  15. 1 kerbal x 4 FL-T200 tanks x 9 Rovemates. Approximately.
  16. I'd guess half of your field of view should be your tilt off of 90 degrees, to decrease what you are guaranteed to see every pass of each pole, thereby increasing the chance of seeing new stuff.
  17. Jeez if I ever perfected my missions I'd probably quit. My screwing things up is the only randomizer in this game.
  18. Yes that's fine. As Steve said: Basically you need an orbiter and you need a lander. So long as you have both at each world, cool. you can even have more things. My Evepollo mission (which I just finished, see below) brought a little satellite to scan both Gilly and Eve for ore. My Joolollo mission will likely have one as well. I updated the rules to be more precise. ----------- An update for my own self: If it weren't for the fact that the video is specifically to prove that I completed Evepollo, I'd never, ever give away the ending because it. is. a. nail-biter. Both my most successful Eve lander ever and the closest margins I've ever had (and succeeded with, at least). I've got the video to make, still, and woo boy I can't wait for you to see it. Likely not ready until tomorrow at best.
  19. It's about typical for the ones I frequent, except FTL that's basically sunshine and roses. I expect AAA game forums are ridiculously worse, but I tend to prefer indie games. One thing is consistent, though: All of the communities had greater developer interaction before the incessant complaining started.
  20. Yes you do. But by adding prograde to your burn to extend your apoapsis out past Minmus' orbit, you DO change the time you cross the An/Dn marker. Dramatically so, in fact. You can easily double the amount of time to get to Minmus, giving you a large leeway. To start, extend your orbit until your apoapsis is near the other An/Dn marker from where you started (what you normally would do to go to Mun, only at Minmus' An/Dn markers instead of the "correct" location based on where Minmus is), and you should get encounter markers (light blue) on Minmus' and your orbits. Then keep extending your Ap by adding prograde to the maneuver node, and the markers should get closer. Eventually, they'll be so close they'll turn into an actual encounter. You may also need to drag the maneuver node itself around your orbit a little bit to make the encounter better.
  21. Trimmed. He removed posts that had nothing to do with the topic, like pruning (trimming) dead branches from a tree.
  22. Wait am I misunderstanding? You have stuff in your signature that you don't know where it came from? How did it get there?
  23. This. Sorry to quote and just say "this" but at least I only quoted the relevant part and not the whole post. But seriously. You don't HAVE to do anything.
