  1. Granted it's been 2-3 years since I tried any action group mods, but I never found any of them palatable. They seemed to have about 100 features and the one I wanted (set action groups in flight) was buried in so many clunky menus that it was easier to just right click the parts and open the solar panels myself. Then I wrote All Y'All and never looked back
  2. It is also possible that one or more of the people who no longer work for Squad made the decision, and that decision was why they no longer work there. Note the above is pure speculation and not based on any facts. However it's important to note that Squad is not a person but a group, that has changed quite significantly over the years.
  3. Thread with question about software versioning turns into Squad hate fest. Check.
  4. It really depends. I suggest playing with maneuver nodes. Also you could make "rescue mission" your plan C and turn plan B into "get out and push." As in, get a Kerbal out of the ship and use the RCS jet packs to push the whole vessel retrograde, while at your Kerbin Apoapsis. It may take several sessions (you have to get back in to get more fuel) and may even take several orbits, but as RCS fuel is infinite, it is 100% possible to get back home.
  5. Software versioning is not math. 1.9 plus 0.1 is not 2.0, but instead is 1.10.
  6. Yeah that's a pretty straightforward bug. I assume you're not using any mods that would have created that contract. Create an account and submit it to the bug tracker. I'd suggest attaching your save game so they can see it easily. Here's the link. Also, if you've gotten the thud to Gilly and tried to make the orbit, I'd say you did the contract well enough and can justify alt-f12, completing the contract. You'll get paid, even.
  7. I agree this is at BEST an unintended consequence of not fully thinking through the SENTINEL feature. AKA what most users (but not developers) would call a bug. In real life, if you put up 1 satellite you may find X asteroids. If you put up 10 satellites you will NOT find x*10 asteroids. There is a limit to how many asteroids you can find and diminishing returns for each satellite you put up. I would suggest a limit of 2x the asteroids found by one SENTINEL, to ever be found. Each SENTINEL after the first should find 1/2 more asteroids than the previous one found.
  8. Yes this is true, though in almost 6 years of play I've thought about setting action groups in the VAB about 3 times, and as I'm approaching my target ... well a lot more than 3 times. It's easily the biggest disconnect in my brain for this game.
  9. If you're going modless, right click each experiment well before the flyby and pin them open with the button in the upper right hand corner. Then you can just click-click-click to gather the science. If you like mods I'd suggest All Y'All or ForScience for... well... science collection that is easier and allows you to actually watch the flyby you are partaking in.
  10. I don't know why (or even if) they have the required time for the first 6 hours, but the reason it's there at all is so if you come back to your base after a year it only has to run the simulation 400-odd times, not millions if it was every second. Note: It's not a "6 hour delay" it's a "6 hour period." If you leave the ship for 0-5.9 hours, you get nothing (if the Wiki's correct). If you leave it for 6-11.9, you get 6 hours of drilling. If you leave it for 12-17.9, you get 12 hours of drilling. Etc.
  11. Very awesome. I love Eve lander/orbiters mostly because I personally have SO MUCH TROUBLE with them my own self. -=( Haha! ) ( What? )=- -=( You look like Mary Poppins! ) ( ... Is he cool? )=- -=( Yeah. He's cool. ) ( I'M MARY POPPINS Y'ALL! )=- Yes that's totally cool, though I'll admit it gave me pause even though you mentioned it earlier. I will as well! That was awesome. I love that nothing in the rules said you had to plant a flag (Though really it should) but you did anyway, making it EVEN HARDER. Welcome to the finish line!
  12. The surprising part isn't that the launcher stopped working when you went to 1.5, it's that it was still working when you were on 1.3.
  13. I've completed Dunpollo but haven't edited it. Not sure when I'll get time but hopefully tonight. I got complacent doing these one-and-done missions and didn't plan very well, but salvaged it in the end all the same. Let's just say I'm glad I never said the orbiter and lander had to arrive at their target world docked together, because when you have 3 things and they each have 1 docking port...
  14. Not as bad an idea as calling it a toy to disparage it, when in fact even at full size it's still exactly that. And actually given all the consequences, I still think it's better smaller. It doesn't have to be 10x smaller, but full size is worse than heavy probe cores.
  15. I don't think any asset in the game, from the Skipper to to Kraken on Bop, should be sacrosanct. I also think it would benefit from at least receiving alternate setups.
  16. I have no idea on the rules or rights of the parties involved, but: I wouldn't really consider half a liter of hard alcohol "a bit." I seriously doubt they'd sell you that much. that's 17 shots. I'm surprised he was walking.
  17. My first Mun landing was long ago. Not as long ago as @Vanamonde's but long enough that I don't have any pictures. If I even took any which I suspect I did not. I still remember it though. It was in the demo and completing my Kerbin landing when done was the personal milestone I wanted to reach before deciding if the game was worth it.
  18. Yeah I know it's not November 2013, because I bought it in June 2013 and couldn't transfer to Steam when I tried during that Steam-only beta testing period.
  19. I agree 100%. Actually I'd like that for every part in the game.
  20. 100-150% everything "bad" 50-100% everything "good" Depending mostly on how important "grind" is to the current playthrough idea. I once drug all bad sliders to the top and good ones to the bottom. Wow was that a boring playthrough. I'm not 100% sure I made it to Mun or Minmus before giving up.
  21. They likely find "Do a bunch of work and pay for my Steam license to give it to me for free" bull, too.
