I actually did this, in the only environment in which I know it can be done: Astroneer. I fell back to the planet. Therefore I can guarantee you will fall back to the planet if you try this... ...in Astroneer. Regarding trying it in reality, and ignoring the impossibility of doing so, then yes if the road is connected to the surface of the Earth and therefore rotates with the Earth, at geostationary altitudes you'll be moving at orbital velocity.

Should celestial bodies in KSP 2 have axial tilts?
Superfluous J replied to intelliCom's topic in Prelaunch KSP2 Discussion
I found the list I had made years ago regarding KSP2 tilt changes I'm going to make. Note, I am not suggesting these as changes I think should be in the game. I list them as changes I think I will make, barring the game not allowing the changes to work. Moho: Axis tilt to match its orbit. Rotation so it rotates 3 times per 2 orbits, like Mercury. Eve: Axis flipped so it rotates backwards, like Venus. Gilly: Axis tilted to match its orbit around Eve. Rotation so it rotates in some fraction of its orbit, like Moho. Kerbin: Axis tilted 23 degrees, like Earth. Mun: Axis and orbit tilted 6 degrees from Sun, like Minmus is now. No real reason, just wanted it not in Kerbin or Sun's line. Minmus: Axis tilted 23 degrees from Kerbin, or 0 degrees from Sun. To make interplanetary from Minmus easier (Hey it doesn't have to be ALL harder) Duna: Axis tilted 25 degrees, like Mars. Rotation still locked to Ike. Ike: Orbit and tilt to match Duna's axial tilt. Rotation still locked to its orbit. Duna/Ike Alternate: Make Ike a bit bigger and make Duna/Ike a true dual world, depending on how (and if) KSP2 handles that. Dres: Axis tilt to match its orbit. Maybe add a thin ring if it's easy. Jool: No change. Laythe: Remove oxygen from the atmosphere (sorry but it makes no sense even in this silly universe) Vall: See Eeloo. Tylo: No change. Pol: Orbits Tylo in some way. I've always wanted a moon to have a moon. Bop: Axial tilt to match its orbit. Eeloo: Axial tilt to match its orbit. Vall: Orbits Eeloo. Eeloo needs a Charon! -
A very well-thought-out essay, that mirrors many of my thoughts on KSP1 and carries them into ideas for KSP2. Thank you for writing it!

Should celestial bodies in KSP 2 have axial tilts?

I don't think Duna being correctly oriented would look less pretty. In fact I think it would look more pretty. But I find realism pretty so ¯\__/¯ -

Terribly inaccurate to the way ice caps work. -

it was probably this terrible - yet official - image from one of the early KSP2 media releases. EDIT: Haha I should really read the whole thread before I reply... You posted this exact image 2 posts later. -
What's the hardest available campaign contract you've had?
Superfluous J replied to onionsiegward's topic in KSP1 Discussion
"Test the launch clamps while in orbit of Mun." That was a bug though and they fixed it long ago. More seriously, I think the one I laugh at the most because holy cow that'd suck if I ever even thought about trying it, is "Extract X units of ore from Eve and deliver it to Gilly" I can barely make a ship capable of getting a KERBAL back to orbit of Eve. I'm not going to even TRY it with a tank full of dead weight. -
Should celestial bodies in KSP 2 have axial tilts?
Superfluous J replied to intelliCom's topic in Prelaunch KSP2 Discussion
This discussion likely belongs in a different thread, and likely has occurred in different threads. Heck, I've likely participated in discussions just like this in different threads. But anyway The big problem is most mods DO "fix" things in the game, and at the same time "break" them. Giving Kerbin and Mun axial tilt "fixes" the game for me. But it "breaks" the game for others. Same with Life Support, light speed delay on probe control, 47 different resources to mine and process, and Scott Manley's face on all kerbals. None of these are in the game. Many people think that's a great thing, and many others want it there and mod their games to "fix" what they find broken. Much like Snark, I'm totally cool with every single planet in the game (even the new ones) having 0 axial tilt, so long as I can change it for myself. Bonus if I can also offer those changes to others in a little downloadable mod. -
Should celestial bodies in KSP 2 have axial tilts?
Superfluous J replied to intelliCom's topic in Prelaunch KSP2 Discussion
True, which is why I was thinking difficulty options. Another option is to have Kerbin and Mun tilted the same way, so Mun still orbits right above Kerbin's equator, but both are tilted relative to the Sun. Minmus could be in the Ecliptic, so you could use it to line up for interplanetary ejections. Also, it would make Minmus an even better interplanetary refueling stopover. -
Should celestial bodies in KSP 2 have axial tilts?
Superfluous J replied to intelliCom's topic in Prelaunch KSP2 Discussion
(replying before I read the rest of the thread) Yes. I believe they should. Possibly as a difficulty option. I wrote down somewhere what I thought each should be but I can't find it now. But I think Kerbin and Minmus should each be tilted to match Minmus' orbit, and Mun should remain in the ecliptic. Eve should rotate backwards, and Duna should be tilted 20-30 degrees. Not sure about the rest of the planets or the moons. I don't expect this in the base game, but I do hope it's as simple to change as modifying a text file to change a "0" to another number. -

Flash Gordon. I keep touting it because it keeps deserving to be touted. -
Do something cool (and legitimate) with the KAL-1000
Superfluous J replied to QF9E's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
I don't know what that is. Google tells me it's a car wheel. I feel a helicopter would be more fun and more practical than a car wheel. They couldn't or it would break their self-imposed rule. -

Other than they're awesome? Pinpoint landings in atmo are by no means easy and walking long distances is a pain. -
How can i save my ship in water?

What is the error when you try? I know nothing of this mod but to me it sounds like the game thinks you are in flight. -
I didn't really like it when I tried. That carrot on the stick of unlocking nodes is important for me, as it is for you. I could see it being doable with a custom contract system that took it into account, along with a personal goal (base in every planet's SOI, for example, or land-and-return from every world. Or 100% relay coverage through the system) for a robotic grand tour with only the probe core's antenna) But when you don't need to collect science there's so much you don't need to bring along with you, you really need to cut cash rewards or you may as well just play sandbox.

The staircase in my house has 12 steps. For some reason as I was coming down the stairs my brain thought there were only 11 steps. Lo and behold, I put my foot where I thought there was floor only to find air, and I was way past being able to stop myself from going forward. Well I DID stop myself, about 10 inches lower where the floor actually was. you'd think falling 10 inches wouldn't be a big deal, but my big toe - which took the entire brunt of my forward momentum sped by gravity - would disagree with you. I don't seem to have broken anything but man it hurts.

I find the concept fascinating. Like how my TV, that only has the speakers on the soundbar available to it, can make it sound like that explosion came from off to my left. that kind of thing is really interesting to me. But yeah I can't watch someone doing foley in my ears for more than about 30 seconds before I'm finding another form of entertainment.

The gas comes out the little hole in all directions, 180 degrees around a half-sphere from the hole. That gas then hits the bell and due to its shape, is directed as close to straight back as possible. this generates more thrust than just letting the gas out the nozzle would.

A lot of things could be wrong. Could you post a pic of your ship after deploying the chutes and before it crashes?

Sorry, but I've seen Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets so I know for a fact the ISS will live on for quite some time. Okay that's a joke. I didn't watch the whole movie I had to stop halfway through because it was so bad. But the first 10 minutes is pretty cool and shows the ISS essentially growing forever and being upgraded to a massive structure as technology allows.
