New Lens flare could be put in game, It's not that taxiing actually, just camera trickery. New parts for everything is coming, so I have no doubt new common liquid fueled engines are there as well. Landing Feet deforming soil is also possible in game, you can have it happen by using game code trickery. Instead of deforming the soil, just have a tiny model pop out of the landing leg, or it could just be a texture trick. Either way, I wouldn't doubt it if they did add this in game. The Kerbals have 3D hair now, instead of the hair just being textured on their models. At least, that's what I see in the trailer. The new flames look super realistic, so do the explosions. Those aren't snowflakes, that's ice. Ice builds up on rockets irl, and it would actually be easy to add them to the game imo. Texture and particle effect trickery would be the easiest way I would think, though, 3d modeled ice would be nice. Shock wave, is the word you're looking for. Sonic Boom Shock wave. New destruction mechanics would be nice. That does look like a bridge to me, and I suspect it's part of a city on Kerbin, most likely near the KSC. I wonder if the Gravity Rings will play a part in the campaign. Maybe the kerbals will be susceptible to gravity changes now? Weaker bodies, less speed, less stamina, etc. New terrain will be an interesting problem to overcome. New rover parts would be nice. The Orion Drive is indeed in game. If you watch the dev story trailer, you see it in the pre-alpha gameplay. 3D rings would be super nice, but I'd imagine very taxing. Jool does indeed look better. I'd imagine fusion fuel would be at any gas giant. The lava cracks are most likely due to gravitational forces from the planets themselves, not natural volcanoes. In fact, I would argue this is exactly what is happening since Star Theory is in talks with NASA. Looks like battery banks or fuel tanks. We are getting new solar systems. Plural, so I don't doubt it's not in the Kerbol system. Everything from KSP 1 will be in game, just expanded upon. So Laythe is there, as for the new icy laythe, new solar system definitely. Glacial surfaces already kind of exist. Kerbin as ice, Duna has snow, so it's not that far fetched. I'm more concerned as to if there will be falling snow on this new icy laythe. Weather, even if camera trickery, would be neat. More than likely, an in game survival mode, oxygen needed to survive, only produced by plants. Why are they at the highest point? If you think about it, the answer is really simple and easy. So the sun light isn't blocked by the other modules. Plants need sun after all.

How? You had a tilt rotor early in the vid. -

New Suit for DLC 3

People are really liking the idea of a military style space suit... with Armageddon and Sunshine style suits tied for second. Honestly, I didn't think the latter two would get much love, but apparently people like Sunshine and Armageddon. -
New Suit for DLC 3

No, they wont wear a suit since they wont need air. I'm talking physical features of an android. Exposed robotics, robotic movements sometimes, etc. -
New Suit for DLC 3

Hmmm. What about android/robot kerbals? Anyone? -
While you are correct that throttle does effect fuel consumption, fuel consumption is also effected by altitude. Fly a plane with jet engines. Look at the liquid fuel consumption on take off, then climb up to 5000m, you'll see a significant fuel decrease with little to no thrust loss. This is how it also works in real life and why planes want to fly as high as possible. The higher the plane, the better the fuel savings.

New Suit for DLC 3

When you say bubble helmet, do you mean those like literal fish bowls as helmets you would see in most sci-fi shows? -
While testing this prop passenger plane I made, I noticed that at no matter what height, the fuel was always (0.75) in use. Effective air speed and the flow both change, but the fuel usage does not. If I remember correctly, turboprops are like jet engines, so shouldn't the altitude effect fuel used?

There's a lot of talk about what DLC 3 should be about, but I haven't seen any talk about what the suits should be, or at least I haven't seen any because I might be blind in one eye and can't see out of the other. So, we've gotten a suit for each new DLC thus far. Making History - Soviet Era suits Breaking Ground - A SciFi suit resembling the suit from The Martian. So what design should DLC 3 suit be? And yes, I realize that spacesuits all start to look alike at some point, but there are still plenty of other suits that can be made. A few of my suggestions: Star Trek TOS style environmental suit - Sure people would love to have some nostalgia Star Trek ENT/TNG style suit - Basically the helmet was the only bulky part and the rest of the suit was body thin. Armageddon Movie style suit - Miners in space, plus the suits had more of a bubble helmet (more than 180 degree view) instead of a visor style helmet (Limited to 180 degrees at best) Sunshine style suit - Heavy, bulky, made for protection against heat from the sun, up to a certain point. Since heat was added to the game, a functional space suit to protect kerbals in low Solar orbit would be nice, and this design would certainly serve that purpose. Sci-Fi military space suits - I call it military because it seems to be the basic design of military sci-fi space suits. Lightly armored, with a small visored helmet which basically only gives about 50 degrees of view, aka, right in front of you. What are some of your desired space suits canonical, conceptual, or otherwise?

Anyone else having trouble downloading it? I keep getting a corrupt archive for some reason.

totm june 2018 Work-in-Progress [WIP] Design Thread
GoldForest replied to GusTurbo's topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
I meant 1 pair of legs. 1 pair = 2 legs. -
I decide that a mass thread showing or telling what's possible with the new parts would be helpful, especially for new players or novice players. Anyone and everyone is free to contribute, and I'll try to update the OP with other people's ideas as much as possible, but I tend to forget to do things, so check through the thread as the your problem or the idea your seeking may be here. Functional ideas: -Swing Wings: Swing Wings are possible with the new parts. You'll have to use the servos -Mass Solar Arrays: Mass Solar Arrays, such as the ones on the ISS, are possible. You need to use a combination of telescopic pistons to achieve the effect. -Props for planes, helicopters, and jets: These are possible, but not very good as physics tends to break down the higher the speed. For Prop planes, I suggest using nothing but the empty extending tube parts(Forgot their name, derp) as the body. Hide lots of RTGS inside with a few batteries as back up. For Helicopters, a countra-rotating or a two nacelle design is needed for any real lift. I would suggest going quad copter for this. For jet high-bypass turbines, these are easy and simple to make, but the fan blades start acting weird once the rpms get high. They do add some speed, but not a lot. Aesthetic Idea: -Drive Shafts: Drive Shafts are possible, but purely aesthetic. To achieve this, use these parts in this order: Rotor, hinge, hinge set 90 degrees to the first one, shaft made up of anything you want, hinge set to 90 degrees, hinge, rotor. -Piston powered wheels: Piston powered wheels are not possible through the piston alone. You will need to add a rotor to the wheel and have it turn everything.
