Hello blackrack, thank you for your beautiful mod.

Is it known if there's some kind of a conflict between the current release version of scatterer and reflections from TextureReplacer? I've found out that if I use scatterer and some reflective textures from WindowShine or KSPRC, I will get some weird artifacts instead of nice looking reflections. The artifacts are most obvious on the EVA helmet, but they seem to appear on any reflective texture. Without scatterer installed, the reflections work properly. I've tested this quite thoroughly with only scatterer and TextureReplacer installed, and the conflict seems to be indeed between these two mods.

However, with the newer "Tracking Station" version of scatterer, the reflections seem to work fine. I have an AMD GPU in case it might matter.

Here's a picture on imgur showing the problem:

It's a known issue.

I fixed it in the experimental versions, hence why it works fine with the "tracking station" version.

I would highly recommend completely turning off the volumetric cloud particles for all cloud layers from the EVE menu.

What if I told you there's version of EVE with fast multi - layer clouds ?

What if I told you about 80 FPS when looking up through several layers of volumetric clounds ?

What if I told you can see bright Mun with proper albedo from Kerbin ?

What if I told you that Better Atmospheres can be  alive again?

I would honestly say BS. I would still download it and try out it, no doubt, but in answer to your question, no, I don't think I'm ever going to get 80fps out of this machine. I run a custom frame limiter that lets me limit down 30 fps to help manage garbabe collection stuttering because I don't even get 30 fps consistently, let alone 60 fps.

Looks like he was advertising for a mod he is reviving which also isn't cool. Developers shouldn't go to other developers threads and advertise. Pretty bush league.

EVE with fast multi - layer clouds = negative only if is not use volumetric section
80 FPS + several layers of volumetric clounds = negative aka each LayerVolume & Layer2D turn, use it will make game bleed fps
Eve it have old problem what it was not fix & i doubts it will be fix sonish in actual condition = > LayerVolume & Layer2D <

but back on scatterer topic i was try to test experimental what blackrack was provide & none was not work corectly in tracking station a minor incovinient i say :) but glad to see it is try to be fix :)

I'm not adverstising anything, and it's not me who made this wonder possible - it's @RangeMachine who revived good old EVE 7.4 and made it work in KSP 1.2.2

I don't know why he does not make proper release, so I wanted to share my knowledge with community. People deserve to know the truth, you know.

I realise that new EVE is more advacned and have unique features, but with my heavy mod load I really started to care about perfomance. And I love volumetric clouds... And Mun shine.

Also it is possible to use good old Better Atmospheres or Astronomer's Packs with it.

Perfomance wise - when I look up to the sky through 2 layers of volumetric clouds I'm getting 75-85 FPS. When look down to the ground it may vary 25-45, depending on craft and scene.

Also consider this result achieved with Scatterer (with disabled godrays and water shaders) + Stock Visual Terrain + KerbinSide and about 100 of mods (gameplay and parts).

For your info: my KSP install uses 10-12 GB of RAM. My PC : i5 @ 4400 MHz, Radeon 7950 @ 1140/1500 , 16 GB RAM, SSD

@blackrack I'm really sorry for offtop... Related to tracking station buid - I confirm there's something with ambient light. It's always not zero...

Tbh the volumetric shading is better now, it's normal that it runs slower than 7-4, it's doing more work. I frankly don't like the old flat volumetrics and I still think the sweet spot is 1 volumetric layer.

In my opinion, new EVE is definetly step forward, however implemented features is more expansive perfomance wise. And it looks gourgeous from orbit. Except I don't understand why "Mun shine" feature was dropped...

But for atmosheric flight I really prefer slightly modified Better Atmospheres because of dense clouds...

It is good to have choice. But for both old EVE and new EVE Scatterer is a must. :P

sorry for offtopic blackrack

rbray89 from 7.4 till his last release 1.1-3 was try to implement new thing & was work to fix many bugs => Cloud Shadows / Better City Lights / Improved Lighting / GUI Updates / Celestial Shadows / Cloud shading / Cloud Animation (thx to Waz) & for sure was a not easy task from what i remember, special some aspect was give him a lot trouble to make it work. Part with volumetrics clouds was really change in May 2016 & it was just beginning of a long road what was came with new texture system > cub maping < ... performance wise well my be was not best or perfect but heh in my view was just first step to push limit to much more & make eye explode in joy :)

Anyway is good to see someone try to came with a alternative & i will keep a close eye to see how it will goo & hope to see rbray89 around agen :)

Just uploaded a new version. EVE integration is in, sunflare fixes, ring-sunflare interactions, ring shadows, tracking station support as well as many bug fixes, full changelog in the OP, please read it.

Quick beauty album here: http://imgur.com/a/dhhFK

This update might disrupt many of the exisinting visual packs because things simply look different now. There is still an option to use the old cloud shading however in the main menu.

For the screens I show and the settings I include, I use only the latest EVE version from waz. For the Jool rings in the pics I used the rings from SVE.

@blackrack

@Galileo

I just got the new Scatterer via CKAN, too. CKAN and the ZIP says v300, however, the ingame scatterer window says v275 preview.

And it does not work well with the SVE configs. It has continous NREs and a huge memory leak in combination with the SVE config. That is going from 0 to max memory (swapping to death) in few seconds, as soon as entering a a savegame from main menu to space center. The memory allocation rises like a Saturn V. :D:) At least in my install.

With the config from the scatterer V300 zip files it works. Unfortunately the situation kills all CKAN SVE installs in the moment, I assume.

So I don't know if it's a scatterer problem (it shows 275 preview) or a SVE problem, with the SVE configs kill the new scatterer.

Quick Fix for people with problems, if you have SVE installed:
-delete the gamedata\scatterer directory (which includes the SVE configs for scatterer)
-install the new scatterer v300 manually or play without scatterer for now until this is fixed.

NRE when using in combination with SVT:

  Reveal hidden contents

Planetlist.cfg format changed, as it seems. Can that be?
