komodo
I finally got around to uploading an assortment of screenshots for public consumption! I also forgot how annoying it was to put images into albums in imgur. Oh well! Behold! This is a playthrough done using the entertaining combination of New Horizons by @KillAshley with the redimention mod of @Sigma88, plus some assorted remnants of configs from 64x combined with a rescale based on the ROMini config of @NathanKell combined with some custom garbage code I wrote to handle the node placement. ... Ok, so I may like to tinker a bit I hope to have some more pictures up periodically as the career play through progresses. Next challenge is getting a RT network up such that a mission can be launched to (another) moon for more delicious science. It can be rough when 8-10 dV is what you need to get to LKO, hehe. Thanks as always for the mod!

TimothyC
@CobaltWolf There have obviously been several version of a large diameter Titan that have been proposed ranging from 15 to 19 foot diameter versions (I have specifically come across versions at 180, 192, 196, and 228 [BARBARIAN] inch diameters). These correspond to scale diameters of 2.8575m, 3.048m, 3.1115m, and 3.6195m. Based on that, I'd suggest that the Large Diameter Prometheus use a 3m diameter (the diameter tended to go up over time and the 180 inch Titan was the first), and a later 3.75m scale for the later Barbarian. For LDP (Large Diameter Prometheus), I'd basically use a doubled-up Prometheus 3 engine, and a Prometheus 4 variant later. Even on the LDP 3 I'd draw from the Prometheus 4 anyway as it represents the advances that would have been integrated in any production line change. The upper stage engine options are either a lower thrust single engine upper stage with a larger bell or a pair of standard second stage engines. Barbarian would likely pull an all new engine with 5 bells and at least 250% of the Prometheus 4 rated power, and the same style as Prometheus 4. Upper stage on the Barbarian might actually be a single chamber version of the LR-87, not the LR-91. Were I made to recommend just one rocket, it would be a 3m LDP using pair engines and an art style between Prometheus 3 and 4 with a single upper stage engine with a large bell. One person you'd want to ask about this is @MKSheppard Edited February 15, 2016 by TimothyC
VenomousRequiem
I decided to make a new hard-core science install! It's in Harder Solar System x3 like usual, but I decided to quit using MechJeb for my ascent, instead I do it manually, and entirely powered like IRL. Just now am i realizing how much more efficient full-powered ascents are... and how low TWR isn't a bad thing anymore! At the throttle I had the AJ10 at, it was literally only getting 1.4kN of thrust, and it still got into a 124KMx123KM orbit, without even doing any circularization burns! FiiZzioN
KerbalStuff has been down as of late, so I'm currently unable to download this pack. You may want to have a secondary provider for cases such as this. Here's the KerbalStuff thread. It's not just me either, it's been on and off for a couple of days now... How long did that burn take? I've been running 25-50% of real thrust on the upper stages.

I've been meaning to get a Git repo set up so that people can log bugs there anyways. So I guess now is the time. I'll try and get it set up in the next couple days. If anyone has a link to a guide / instructions for setting that up, I'd appreciate it. I tried setting one up once and didn't find the instructions I needed in the two seconds I looked. @TimothyC Really? All the pictures I've seen of it correspond to a diameter of 4m, ie a straight stack with Apollo or Big G. As a result I was picturing 2.5m for the size. @komodo @VenomousRequiem nice screenshots! Ven, you should try New Horizons it's a blast and it works with 64k IIRC.

TimothyC
@CobaltWolf Yep. The LDC (Large Diameter Core) Titans started at 180 inches (there were proposed adapters for Titan IIIM - Apollo and Titan IIIG - Apollo, but both involved necking down or up). There was however a fair amount of artwork that simply didn't match the actual plans, and I think that is what you have seen. Edit: Remember, going to a 15 foot core over the 10 foot core doubles the tank volume (with no stretch), and a 16 foot core is over two and a half times the volume of a same-length 10 foot core. The 19 foot Barbarian core is over three and a half times the volume of a same-length standard titan core. I was picturing just a tank and an engine haha. Do you have any NTRS documents handy? Preferably with pretty pictures? Though I suppose I should be more focused on finishing Juno... EDIT: Phew... lotta drama today. KerbalStuff, PMs (some pleasant and some not)... I think imma put my head down till this whole thing blows over. EDIT2: Github is setup. Main downloads will be located here. Edited February 15, 2016 by CobaltWolf

raidernick
@CobaltWolf When you make a github release you also need to upload a zip of the mod, not just let the source builds be the only downloads there, things like CKAN can't pull from source zips and source zips also contain github related files beyond your own mod, so it is best practice to include your own zip in the release as primary download.
