Hmmm, I'm not sure what that could be, but the most likely culprit is a file or two in KSP has gotten corupted. It happens from time to time. When that happens, you have to redownload KSP/verify all the files are good.

Copy your save and gamedata folder to a backup location, then redownload KSP/verify the files through steam.

Alright, I did everything. Fresh install, verified through Steam, re-downloaded BDB, I just don't know what's going on anymore, the lunar adapter fairing is just bugged on my end and I don't know what's causing it or how it even happened.

Would you know if there's any way to get in touch with anyone who might know what to do here, or someone who might've had a similar issue before? Sorry to keep pinging you but you have been a ton of help :))

As GoldForest stated, the fact that the SLA has two nodes one right on top of the other is a constant problem when building a Saturn V type rocket with Lunar module.

BUT there are also certain mods that can cause problems with BDB parts (TweakableEverything is a prime culprit and in my opinion should be considered in-compatible with BDB!)

Is this a rocket YOU made or is it an existing Craft File from Frizznit that is included in the BDB Zip download?

Follow the Troubleshooting steps as laid-out in my signature below.

Spoiler

When I manually build my Saturn V, I start with the LM build it completely so that I have room to set up the rover etc (not that I have ever built the Rover correctly) then I add the SLA for the S-IV to the bottom.   I zoom in as close as I can, clipping through much of the SLA fairing base to see the attachment and make certain the Rocket motor is on the UPPER (top) of the two closely spaced nodes.  I build up to the tip of the LES and re-root to the Command Module.   I adjust all staging so that it goes in the correct order (stage LES, then Stage SLA Pannels and CM separation... Then stage the SLA release of the LM (so that you can dock with it first)

After that I build from the S-IVB GCU on down to the bottom of the rocket.

In the future, please do not share images from Discord.  Discord deletes them after only a couple hours so it is impossible for us to help you with your images.  Rather you can copy the image yourself and put it on a picture hosting website (I use Imgur.com because it has some native features in the KSP forums)

If that doesn't help you you will have to provide KSP logs via a file sharing site because you have a mod interaction that is blocking the proper deployment.

The heat shield has to be kept pointed almost perfectly, otherwise the CM will overheat.

If you disable reaction control wheels, be sure to enable RCS. It's disabled by default on the CM.

I'm also still having issues with the COM offset, still getting the capsule overheated, of course I'm not using reaction wheels and as the capsule tilts ever so slightly witht he offset COM I start having overheat problems as the capsule reaches around 60k meters (Planned perigee of 45k for reentry from the Mun @JNSQ).

I think I'll just add some ablator in the configs like the RO-Capsules config has.

The heat shield varied in thickness from 2 inches (5.1 cm) in the aft portion (the base of the capsule, which faced forward during reentry) to 0.5 inches (1.3 cm) in the crew compartment and forward portions. The Total weight of the shield was about 3,000 pounds (1,400 kg). (wikipedia)

Does the Soyuz in Soviet mod work with the apollo-soyuz part in bdb @TheSpaceToffee

(I don't know how to reply)

Yes, Tantares and BDB are fully compatible.

At the bottom-left of a post there should be the word "Quote", click that to reply.

IDK how to solve your problem, sorry. I never use the offset. Ask @CobaltWolf

Don't worry, I know why it happens, as the COM is slightly offset part of the capsule faces the windstream so it overheats. Jus replying so others can see that I have the same issue and will try to test the ablative material on the capsule.

Okay, so as I understand it, the Lunar Adapter has two stages; one, in which it releases the CSM and jettisons the adapter panels, and the second where it decouples the LM. What's happened for me is that that second stage does not work whatsoever, it doesn't respond at all.

And now, just trying the game one more time to parse the issue, the first stage doesn't even work half the time. Now the Adapter is completely unresponsive, not allowing the panels or the CSM to release. (The panels just waste away their fuel never being jettisoned) I am using a stock craft file with some changes made to the craft; but just to make sure like a real scientist, I went back and opened a stock craft file, making no modifications before launching it, and alas, the Adapter worked the same way, it didn't work Dx

I'm very much under the belief that there is some mod config, but I'm not entirely sure what it is. I can't do automatic updates or checks or whichever on CKAN since I'm playing KSRSS Reborn, so I have a lot of visual mods installed manually. But I can provide the logs if that'll help

KSP

Also, I appreciate you letting me know about Discord images, I'm still new here and didn't know that, thanks!

I believe this is the first thing you should try before anything else:

584 [LOG 08:52:15.765] [AddonLoader]: Instantiating addon 'ModuleManager' from assembly 'ModuleManager'
585 [LOG 08:52:15.765] [ModuleManager] Multiple copies of current version. Using the first copy. Version: 4.1.4.0

It's loading the wrong version, which it does when there are multiple copies. You must have only the latest copy of MM present.

SATURN I

All hail the Saturn I! It was built so early that there was no payload for it. When the payload came along, changes to policy and heavier payloads made it obsolete. It is still a good looking but chunky rocket.

The Block 3 is my designation for a version that was originally intended but never flown. It had a third stage called the S-V, which according to several sources was "nearly identical to the Centaur." The Block 2 Apollo A was a very early Apollo proposal that used a minimal, lightweight Service Module with solid motors instead of the SPS. There was a small lab underneath the SM that could be accessed with a transposition & docking maneuver. AS-101 is what the stack would have looked like if it had ever flown an actual Apollo CSM (very light fueled). I have actually flown these two versions on a 2.7x KSRSS and got them to a 100 km circular orbit, barely.

Finally, two alternate reality versions. The first is what may have transpired with Gemini if the pogo problems with Titan II could not have been overcome, or if the Air Force had refused to cooperate. The second is the General Electric Apollo D-2 proposal during the earliest Apollo discussions. The spacecraft is from the long dormant Alternate Apollo mod. It sure would be nice of someone could adopt this and bring it up to BDB standards... just sayin'. I have flown both of these and they work great!

I don't think it's that. I did reinstall MM and now it isn't trying to load multiple versions, but the issue persists...

I just checked some of my old posts and they still have images.   Likely due to using the "Post" vs Embedded Image features of Imgur???

Permission denied on your upload. MM didn't really need to be "reinstalled" - just needed to delete the older one, and it's a necessary change whether or not it directly affects the other issues you're seeing, as the older one that gets loaded doesn't have the same features.

I fixed it... I think. Imgur is getting hard to use. I had a previous account with dozens of images that I uploaded here, and now that account seems to have gotten corrupted and I can't access the images anymore. I started a new account and just uploaded those Saturn I images yesterday, but Imgur wiped everything clean today. Very weird. Can anyone recommend a different and more reliable photo sharing service? Thanks.
