GGKSPMC
We all are sad about kerbalstuff.com shutting down. I am making an alternative to all game mod websites. Get ready 4 fun! kcs123
Why to bother when alternative website is already up and running ? SpaceDock is created just in few days after KS was shut down. EDIT: You can find more info about it in this thread. Edited March 11, 2016 by kcs123

Get ready 4 fun! What makes your version better? From reading your old thread, you intend to make a repository for all games. Doesn't that exist already, a la CurseForge? (Which is a perfectly okay mod repository, by the way.) Another problem I have is you seem to assume three things, all of which are incorrect: 1. There is no current, well-liked solution for mod hosting available. (There is, see @kcs123's post above) 2. Mod authors will trust you, a newbie on the KSP forums with no apparent experience who doesn't appear to know much if anything about the community and could leave, to host their mods. 3. People will leave SpaceDock and come to your site, when you have not (yet) given them a reason to do so. I also have concern about hosting. From @SirCmpwn's farewell letter, bandwidth and hosting costs reached over $100 a month, and will no doubt grow over time. How do you intend to pay for this? This isn't the kind of operation you'll be running in the background on your desktop. File hosting is brutal bandwidth-wise, and you'll also need to store about 75GB (and counting) of mods, to say nothing of images etc. Can you also give us some info on what the site will be like, besides "get ready 4 fun?" Will there be ads? Who will maintain it? Will there be an email notification system? Also, what's it going to be called?

My site will have a email notification system, a small amount of ads, and I will maintain it + my friends BTW its gonna be way better than curse forge because I am going to also make a server list for some games (minecraft, unturned). I'll get a 5tb storage 10tb bandwith dedicated server, which will host more than CurseForge! The name I haven't decided yet xD. Thanks for the motivation! Tangle
...Dude. I don't think "Hosting more than curseforge" is a possible goal. Plus, you seem to be treating this as a joke. Why do spacedock downloads take so long for you? Maybe it's your internet, or your computer. And really, are you downloading such large mods that it takes you more than ten minutes to download?! Spacedock downloads take too long xD Why don't you just help out on the spacedock project? If you really are going to buy 10TB of bandwidth, that's gonna be expensive. As in, $1-2k per month. Seriously. Ads are not going to pay for that, even if you cover your page with more ads than Mediafire with tracking cookies up the wazoo. If you have that kind of money, you could probably put it to better use helping out Spacedock. Hell, you could start your own mod-hosting company! I just will make curse forge shut down because of my website's awesomeness. Last time i checked, there was no unturned mod hosting at curse forge [sorry curse]. UPDATE 0.0.2: almost all stupid html crap taken care of. CSS also taken care of. I used a teensy bit of javascript. NO PHP YET [blame it on MAMP]. Some server side code taken care of. Thanks for all of the support! On March 14, 2016 at 7:27 AM, CobaltWolf said: Guys, let him go. I'll heat up the popcorn. what? is this a compliment or is it supposed to be offensive?
