You are welcome to move it if you can do it ingame with a legit stock mission, no Hyperedit.  At this point, it would be a fairly interesting tug or configuration to move it around.  Also without damaging the station...

Been watching this thread, and I just decided to throw together an idea for an Ion puller unit- I don't have any experience uploading or downloading craft files or saves, but you should be able to put it together from this screenshot.

The docking port is kind of finicky, and it's not properly attached here. The long I-beam is the root part. Xenon sold separately.

Edit: Forgot to mention that ideally their should be a probe core or command pod next to this with an upward/forwards orientation to control from.

*alright.. I can't figure out how to embed imgur album.

There's a black box with an "I" in it at the top right of the box when you are typing a message.  Click it and past the imgur album ID into it.  Should look like this:

Can I take a docking port and not have a second one (I'm making an escape rocket-glider-thing and/or an orbital weapon)?

Sure,  5 parts plus up to 2 docking ports, clarified OP about this.  You can have one or two or none, but still only 5 other parts.

I think @Jhawk1099 has the save right now, give him some time to get his mission done, then go for it!

In the same boat as others.  Currently have just 1.1 and don't feel like hunting down a version of 1.05.  Maybe once 1.1 drops I'll send something up.  But, keep up the good work guys.

Its impossible. you would have to move every single part off and somehow keep it from spiraling off into space then get rid of the docking ports somehow. Someone else should take the save I'll run some tests to try to figure this out.

I'll take the save.

I did a fair amount of this in the Space Pirate challenge, I'll give it a shot later

What's impossible?

Can I be added to the queue to add a module please? I've decided that I'm too lazy to wait for this to update to 1.1 (and I'll probably forget some of my ideas for station modules) so I've reverted to 1.0.5 for this.

Here's my KIS station maintenance mission.  I ran into the same problem as @Jhawk1099, parts of the module are too heavy for a single Kerbal to move around.  The right way is to attach some ladders, and place a swarm of kerbals nearby to help with the heavy lifting.  I couldn't be bothered though, so I just hacked the KIS settings.cfg to allow Bill to lift 50 tons.  I attached my little RCS tug to whatever piece he was moving to simulate a robotic helper for moving heavy objects (this should really be a feature of KIS) Eliminated 10 docking ports, and set 2 more in a better spot.

You are cleared to launch, just grab the latest savegame off the OP (freshly updated)

Am I allowed to send crew as well as a module, or does it just have to be one or the other?

Crew change at the same time is fine.  No module if you are doing a KIS station maintenance mission (moving stuff around with an engineer) like I did, otherwise crew/module/whatever you like.

Here is the station save: https://www.dropbox.com/s/qwmsiae1il31o2j/KSS.sfs?dl=0

I'll upload pics a bit later once I've dealt with imgur (it takes me a while to sort out the screenshots properly).

A brief summary of what I did, until I can get the images uploaded:

  1. Spent around an hour and a half attempting to upscale one of my SSTOs to be able to carry a small cargo as well as 8 crew members
  2. Gave up on the SSTO for now
  3. Launched the payload (a docking strut intended for use with SSTOs) on a Tano X rocket (which is an overpowered rocket for this payload but it's my most fail-safe design)
  4. Docked the payload on the end of that Mk2 section and then de-orbited the Tano X upper stage and the docking probe
