NSF stream of static fire attempt, going live soon:

Edit: Tank farm is now venting.

Edit 2: Vehicle now venting!

Edit 3: Looks like SN6 detanking, they may have aborted.

Edit 3.5: There are still 8 hours in the window, so it's possible that this is simply a recycle.

Edit 4: Cars to the pad. Probably an abort for now.

I just don't get it. What is the fascination people have with welding steel? It's been done for millennia. SpaceX rockets look nothing like water towers.

(Grain silos, yes, I could understand.)

Agreed, but you remember the backstory of that wrt Starship, right?

The initial “hopper” was built in part by a water tower contractor. NSF guys saw the trucks (with logos), looked up the company, etc. some guy on their forum basically told people speculating that it was a rocket that they should move out of their parents’ basement...

Then, obviously rocket.

No, I didn't know that. I'm not really an "anti-fan" of SpaceX -- I wish them well -- but I'm certainly not a fan of theirs.

The launch platforms will be giant!

As an very subtle understatement. You will need facilities to land superheavy and starships, integrate payloads and then move them to launch pad, mate them, refuel and launch, you also need hangars in case of bad weather.
So it need to do much more than sea launch, much the same as aircraft carriers, they launch planes weighting 25 ton. now launch something at 5000 ton.
Granted they have +50 planes while this will just house a few starship and superheavy.
It will not be something who is fast to build,

Ithacus.

Not sure where the name came from. Could be from the home island of Odysseus, which is Ithaca. Or maybe derived from the rocket itself, which is a version of the ROMBUS.

It was supposed to carry troops. It's a sub-orbital point-to-point intercontinental rocket idea. (Nobody thought Elon Musk was the first to have this idea, did they?)

Never happens here, but according to the Hollywood movies, is normal on the other side of the planet.

Well, according to Google they may be retiring the USS Truman in the next few years... I’m sure no one would object to selling Elon Musk a surplus nuclear-powered aircraft carrier... I mean, if they can trust him with gigantic missiles already... <_<

...or maybe he’ll try that rekajiggered Pykrete thing...

...or the Russians will jerk him around, refuse to sell it to him, and he’ll get fed up and make it his dang self only better and cheaper...

IceX.
