Warzouz: The default behavior is to not show Flight Engineer data unless an engineer is part of the crew OR one of the parts is installed. That default behavior can be changed in the settings to always have Flight Engineer info available, making the parts redundant.

The career type functionality is available in all game modes. But one of the ways to have an always on Flight Engineer is by upgrading to a level 3 tracking station, which is obviously available from the start in sandbox. This feature can be turned off to enable the requirements for either a part or engineer trained kerbal in non-career modes.

The most likely cause of several mods not working is a windows security issue. Basically, on some systems, mod plugin DLLs will not load if KSP is installed in the Program Files folder. Try copying you whole "Kerbal Space Program" folder from there into another location (e.g. create a folder C:\Games and put it in there).

Thanks! That fixed the problem.

The .version file has the wrong information (still says 1.0.16.1) which makes AVC complain that it isn't up to date.

That was fixed in a re-package a couple mins after first uploaded to curse. You must have been right on the ball with getting your KER :)

I know about the bug where the icon isn't being displayed. Not sure if that's a KSP bug or KER because the usual KSP Application Launcher events just don't seem to be firing.

The newest version(1.0.16.2) seems to have a bug where m/s is displayed after the mach speed in the dV window in SPH/VAB. Great work porting it to 1.0 so fast though!

Edit: here's a screenshot of the bug:
