Taco = Sandwich?

Heliocentric

Tacos are not sandwiches. Tortas are sandwiches.

Not everything you can eat with your hands is a sandwich. Egg rolls are not sandwiches, either. Nor are burritos or wraps.

Sandwiches have leavened bread (or bread like, like a croissant (still leavened))  as the carrier. Other hand-held chow is delicious, but not a sandwich.

“Sandwiches” as used in articles 47 and 48 of Title 12, C.R.S. are defined as single serving items such as hamburgers, hot dogs, frozen pizzas, burritos, chicken wings, etc.  “Light snacks” as used in articles 47 and 48 of Title 12, C.R.S. are defined as popcorn, pretzels, nuts, chips, etc.

I find this logic very good and reasonable.  At least from a programming pov.

All these things are composed of different types of food, each with its own duration and regulation rules.
So, we can clearly see a multiple inheritance, and such food compositions should be under special regulation rules considering each component.

They could name it like "food appliqué", the crops-based component - "food substrate", the wet components - "food appicators" or so.

P.S.
Maybe tacos aren't listed because they don't like tacos,
Also as tacos, burritos, doner, many other such things are basically the same, they should name them just like "shawarma and its clones".
"50 shades of shawarma"

Spoiler

I guess, historically shawarma was the first of them.

P.P.S.
(Just took a look in wiki).
Isn't the Colorado governor an IT person? This explains.

But where do stuffed pitas fit in?

I'd say sandwich, because I'm sticking with a definition that if the bread is leavened, and there's stuff between it, it's a sandwich.

Deep fried and sugared.    The only way to do it right.   hard to find places that make it like this though...

Disneyland.

There's a place (chain) here called Cheddars (national chain, or at least in the US west). I took the kids, and their friends there after a movie (it's practically in the megaplex parking lot). They had one on the menu. 3X cheaper than Disney... and honestly better I think. Stunningly cheap place, too, 4 kids (teens), 2 adults, and it was under $60 ( I think including a tip). Had a higher meat to bread ratio, given the battered nature, it is easy to become unbalanced. The old chain Bennigans used to have a good one as well. I've also seen them made with french toast.

If you're ever in the Cleveland, Ohio area, a local chain of sandwich shops called Melt makes a pretty mean Monte christo.

Nothing against the place.... but I'm not going to Disneyland just for a sandwich.   :P

Fixed that for you. Oh and if we're talking what constitutes a sandwich... They have a lasagna sandwich. It's exactly what the name implies. It's a lasagna between two slices of bread.

I know what you're thinking. They could have used garlic bread.

They did.

Been there maybe a dozen times, and I've probably not had the MC once, as it's hard ot find, and they do it right.   But yeah, if you want to see sandwiches done right, try these guys.

And oh look.... perusing their menu... They don't have a taco sandwich!    Proof!   /thread.

Last time we went to LA and took the kids there my primary goal (for myself) at Disneyland was that sandwich.

I have to retract my savory requirement. My daughter reminded me at dinner of PBJ, and PB, Banana, and Honey. Not savory, but none the less sandwiches. I guess either the stuffed french toast is a sandwich, or I have to retreat to the SCOTUS idea that "I know it when I see it."

Ah, now see, my wife (who is smarter than all of us) nailed this down last night. A sandwich is leavened bread, with a filling inside, that you eat with your hands. If you use a fork and knife to eat it off a plate, it isn't a sandwich.

Taco ? Sandwich ? What are those... They're just "flat bread" and "bread" with stuff...

And something I'd like to raise with the community :

What about Kebabs ?

So, they are trying to take under control the forks usage...

O tempora, o mores.

French toast sandwich? I suppose I'd add savory to that.

Monte Christo? Sandwich (possibly best sandwich). Sweet between french toast? Meh.

those are good but the price of cold cuts in these parts render them a rather expensive meal. i do make a stack of them once or twice a year and call it dinner.

This has to be one of the best threads I've seen in a long time (also making me hungry too)

Tacos could be sandwiches, but sandwiches are usually between two slices of bread, while tacos have their contents in a taco shell. Also, just having it as meat, onion, lettuce, and mayo is a bit generalizing. I mainly have my taco as just meat and cheese, and my sandwiches usually have lemon curd spread

Oh and what about the Swaco and the Tanwich?
