I believe the correct term for half of a pair of pants is "unfinished" or "trash" depending on the situation.

In Croatian, we have a word "nogavica" (noga = leg) for a single trouser leg, which is fine until you realize that the etymologically equivalent word but relating to upper body would be "rukavica" (ruka = arm), but "rukavica" means a glove. There is a word for a sleeve, which is "rukav", but then "nogavica" should be the word for a sock, but it's not; a sock is caller "čarapa", which has nothing to do with legs of feet, and word "nogav" doesn't exist.

Not all words that end in "s" are plural, regardless of the ancient origin of the word.

You probably have a pancreas. Just one. If a surgeon removes part you aren't left with a "pancrea".

In fact, if you have pancrea you might even have more! It has the opposite effect on some words.
