After the latest update to tweakscale I got a showstopper error and crash.  I downgraded the tweakscale companion 'uber packet' since it just updated (I also tried uninstalling it) but I am still getting the fatal error. help?

Expand

Completely remove all the TweakScaleCompanion directories and files, then install the latest one - a faulty component was removed, and if you just install the new one over the older, the faulty component will still be there.

If by completely removing the older contents before installing the new release the problem is solved, then you found a problem on CKAN.

Otherwise, post the KSP.log on the TweakScale's thread and I will inspect it.

Cheers!

Hey, I have these texture mods that I uploaded on SpaceDock. I checked the box for CKAN, and they have a marker on the modpages saying it's listed on CKAN, but I don't see them on there yet. Is there anything else I need to do to get them registered?

Hi, there's a manual review step to make sure the generated metadata is correct. They're in the queue.

I just came back to playing and wanted to get into it but I got the tweak scale showstopper error
I reinstalled the 5 related mods I had including FAR and then after added the 'UberPaket' thinking it might do something but no, i dont really want to spend another 5 hours fixing stuff unless I have any clue what I need to do :/
here is my mods list: https://www.dropbox.com/s/x5bs6cu1168n0z1/mods list for troubleshooting.txt?dl=0
(I might be stupid but idk how to find the log file as I'm using instances on a different drive to the user and haven't found any directories that lead somewhere useful) - I will send the log file once I find where it's hidden
I should also say I'm using  ckan and when i tried to see if curseforge could fix anything it only detected 2/67 mods so I gave up on it
also how should I go about updating mods to keep tweakscale up to date and others without messing a bunch of things up again

Try the threads for those mods:

CKAN can help if there's some indication that they were installed wrong, but we're not experts in problems with TweakScale.

Hi.

Recently, a mishap on BDArmory injected a double patch problem that was flagged by TweakScale. Since you have BDArmory installed, I'm betting this is your case. Try to rollback BDArmory to the previous version and see what happens, it worked for some people.

https://github.com/TweakScale/TweakScale/discussions/301

Additionally, posting the KSP.log is way better than the mod list - in 95% of the times, the KSP.log have enough information for diagnosing the problem without the need of reproducing your installment and firing up KSP, what saves a huge amount of time. In this case, I was able to (probably) quick diagnose your problem because I have a flood of other people with this problem.

Anyway - the solution is to rollback BDArmory to the previous release for while - and don't forget to file a bug report for the BDArmory's manintainers if it works for you. If it didn't solve your problem, publish your KSP.log and I will inspect it!

Good luck!

I can't update Distant Object Enhancement (DOE) /L  with ckan at the moment, all I got is this error:

Tt8BepI.png

@Lisias did some checks  in the mods thread at

and pointed out that the problem seems to be with ckan

Well, CKAN problems should be reported to CKAN themselves, as I don't have control about how they do things there.

All I can do is try to do a preflight check about what their robot is doing and save some time.

The NetKAN file looks good: https://github.com/KSP-CKAN/NetKAN/blob/master/NetKAN/DistantObject.netkan

My repository is online:  https://github.com/net-lisias-ksp/DistantObject/releases

And the meta files are fine too:

In special:

So, nope. CKAN itself is looking fine. Perhaps SpaceDock?

https://spacedock.info/mod/2274/Distant Object Enhancement /

Humm… Nope, it looks fine too. I tried a direct download using the download link from the CKAN file, https://spacedock.info/mod/2274/Distant Object Enhancement /L/download/2.1.1.12 , and it worked too.

So I don't have the slightest idea about what could be happening, but it looks link something on the CKAN application itself. You will need to reach CKAN guys for help.

For the moment I downloaded and installed the update from CKAN so it's not a big issue for me. I'm wondering however what's the root cause of the error.

Seems to be working fine now. Probably a temporary glitch with SpaceDock that resolved itself already.

Well if it worked for me and not for you, then the cause must be something that about your situation that isn't true of mine, which rules out both CKAN and SpaceDock. Maybe your PC has a misconfigured firewall or antivirus?

So im playing KSP on a macbook and i find manually installing mods very tedious and not worth the effort. I tried to use the command line interface ckan to download the realism overhaul mod, but whenever i press ctrl+D it just downloads to the cache instead of actually downloading the mod. I have no idea why this is happening and why i cant find the file in my cache folder, please help

Or perhaps a borderline situation that caught CKAN with its pants down? There's a file where CKAN does logging as KSP does? Inspecting such log would surely pinpoint the cause (or at least the symptom) allowing people to do something about!

Having it on a file would help on diagnosing these hard to crack problems on the field...

@jost, do you remember something weird on that text box at the time the bug had bitten you last time you tried?

Yes, the textbox was white. Doesn't matter anymore though: I uninstalled the mod and reinstalled it with ckan and everything worked as expected
I can live with it although it feels a little bit wrong not to know the root cause. Many thanks to you and HebaruSun for your efforts.

Best regards, Jost.

  • 3 weeks later...

Hello, I have an issue with CKAN.

i recently came back to ksp 1(tired of ksp2 being stuttery mess)

when I launched ckan it started acting up.

reainstalled KSP, CKAN, manually removed CKAN local files.

when I start CKAN and select game instance(ksp1 or ksp2, both same)

automatic update starts, and it gets stuck on downloading “…CKAN-meta/archive/master.tar.gz”

Window goes unresponsive, for hours.
game V:1.12.5.3190

launcher V:Kepler

Squeaky clean install.

all DLCs

Disabling firewall/antivirus doesn’t help.

Running as admin  doesn’t help.

VPN doesn’t help.

Not sure if this has ever been asked or answered, but; Does CKAN have to be running After the game has been launched from CKAN or can it be closed?

Expand

It's safer if anything to make sure CKAN is closed before you start the game (or immediately afterwards). That way there's no risk of CKAN updating a mod while you're in the middle loading mods into the game, and creating a clash.

Just my 2 cents as a regular CKAN user. =:o}

No, it can be closed once KSP has started.  There's no reason why CKAN should be run while you're playing, either.
