Another "ancient" 3.14ramid has been washed down by rain.

Descendants of the ancient Purépecha tribe, which built the structure, said the storm could signal impending doom as a similar event happened 'because gods were displeased.'

Of course they were. The gods of tourism were disappointed by their percentage, and have shown their rage.

Like the Sacsayhuaman partial collapse after rain in 2010.

Happily, it's never raining on Cheops, as inside it is the same.

The Sahara de-deserts on its own periodically over large spans of time, not sure why some think humans had much say in it the last times the climate there has shifted greatly.  During the last greening civ flourished there but it wasn't "overgrazing" that turned it into a desert.  It was lack of rain as patterns changed,  glaciers naturally retreated etc.

changing the climate accidentally is the first step in changing the climate deliberately.

Google, "acid canyon trail radioactive" (some links contain politics, so didn't post them).

https://vsluh-net.translate.goog/4165-populjarnaja-turisticheskaja-tropa-v-ssha-okazalas-radioaktivnee-chernobylja.html?_x_tr_sl=ru&_x_tr_tl=en&_x_tr_hl=ru&_x_tr_pto=wapp

Should the New Mexico dwellers fear the feral ghouls and deathclaws?
Is it now explained, what is howling there in the night from the hills?

Acid Canyon appeared to be more radioactive than Chernobyl zone.

P.S.
Think positive: pure plutonium for free.

Harvey and Bob Weinstein wanted Peter Jackson to compress Lord of the Rings into one film. He found a more audacious backer in Robert Shaye, who put his entire studio on the line to sign up for the whole nine yards three movies

Pic unrelated.

And then Warner Brothers backed a dump truck full of money up to Peter Jackson's house, and he went on to take The Hobbit, which could have easily been one movie, maybe two, and turn it into a trilogy. :/

I watched the first one in the theater, the 2nd on DVD rental, and the 3rd not at all. I watched a recap on YouTube and don't think I missed anything all that important :D

I did watch all three of them. If you could somehow manage to forget that they were based on J.R.R. Tolkien, they were sort of fun summer action flicks. That's about the highest praise I can muster for them.

I did somewhat like how they tied it in more with the rise of the Necromancer, aka Sauron, but only the stuff that was pretty in line with canon but not well detailed in the books.  The storytelling around Dol Goldur was important and well done.  The tomb of the Witch King was good, but diverged a lot from canon, iirc

I still insist that the whole movie/series makes no sense without Tom Bombadil.

Everything in the 3rd epoch biosphere shouts out that he is the main demiurge of the specific MiddleEarthian species since the very first days.

So, without him Him all that skirmish is just a mouse coaster with no aim.

P.S.
Like with Jackson's LOTR, I've never seen Jackson's Hobbit with original text, only parodies.

They are anyway not farther from the book that the Jackson's ecranizations.

Was a whole part of the magic and mystery of the story - showing joy in the world. Absent him in the story?  Missing something key.

Not just joy.

In this series of posts I tried to explain my vision of Sauron (semi-jokingly) and Bombadil (seriously).

Upd.

Spoiler

My version also explains, why did the eagles not deliver the ringing hobbits directly to Orodruin.

The Ring was a property of Sauron, while the eagles  were owned by Bombadil.

Bombadil didn't want to violate Sauron's property, so the eagles weren't allowed to take part in the Ring elimination.

But he let them bring the escaped hobbits back to the zoo.

Also, as Fangorn is 2-in-1, they should call them "they" literally.
