First beta KSP2 images

It has been confirmed mant times that KSP 2 has been written from the ground up.

Not to mention that re-using existing code given the overall architectural changes to the design would likely be very difficult in the first place.

I am sure some existing stuff has been looked at and then re-factored and used again, but I would be very surprised if they straight up re-used anything. And anything being re-factored is unlikely to have the exact same bugs.

Source?

The videos that the KSP 2 team first posted said that they were remaking the game from the ground up. It's also common knowledge at this point.

That's either a screenshot of KSP 1 or a render of KSP 1. You can't use that as evidence for KSP 2.

That's a KSP post from yesterday referring to ongoing development. Read yourself.

It has nothing to do with the "ongoing development." It's a silly meme you took as "referring to ongoing development." But it is simply a silly meme. Doesn't even mention KSP 2.

Just an etiquette thing but I prefer not to constantly tag the creators directly on trivial questions.

Not to mention that pestering people, be it devs or modders, for updates, is against forum rules. They'll say things when it's time to say things.

Since when is asking a question to the community manager "pestering"?

I think this thread has gotten a little derailed... or a lot derailed... So, let's get it back on the tracks.

I'm wondering how stable this giant plane is. We've seen that the wobbles are back, we can see the large craft in the rescent video wobbling due to the lack of struts. I wonder if they've implemented the autostrut feature already and if they have, how good it is at handling large planes, like this big boy.

In which recent video have we seen wobbles? Did I miss something?

The “footprints won’t be there on day 1” quote I take to be acknowledgement that the graphics aren’t going to necessarily be the final version we see. Just because it’s not in the roadmap doesn’t mean they won’t be looking for optimizations and listening to feedback on what can be improved. Maybe  my expectations are too low? I’m basically just hyped to see the game at all.

Also it’s possible that they’ve deliberately made the clouds simple on Kerbin itself, given that it is the starter planet and no one wants to do their first launch in a storm.

I can't even begin to understand how anyone that has ever tried to build a big plane in KSP can look at this screenshot and say anything that isn't screaming: "PROPER BIG WINGS"  over and over again.

How can you all talk about development, clouds, terrain textures, wobbling connections and stuff like that when there's PROPER PROCEDURAL HUGE WINGS there on display.

I don't know if I have explained myself enough: PROPER HUGE WINGS! LOOK AT THE SIZE OF THOSE WINGS!

I wonder if the "canard like wings" will be able to get that big. Can you imagine an absolute unit of a canard the size of a wing in that photo just moving?

If it moves whatever you attach to it and you can control the angle and movement with action groups you could use it as a robotic hinge!

Stock animated attachment would be so nice to have!

But in all seriousness, I do wonder how stable those wings are. Again, we've seen the wobbles in the latest video...

Joking aside, not having to cobble together a mosaic of microscopic wing segments is going to give you some much needed rigidity back, regardless how wobbly the connection points between the wings and the rest of the plane are.

Pure eye candy! Can't wait to vaporize green space frogs again :)

If I wasn't already going to buy a PC with an RTX 3070, I sure as hell am now.

Please, we're still going to cobble together a mosaic of microscopic wing segments. How else will we build the planes of Ace Combat? Or any of the thousand other fictional planes that are the size of a small city.

I didn't think you could make the wing solution the KSP 1 devs left us with sound any more absurd :D

I know "NVidia" is basically used as a synonym for a GPU these days, but unless you have some specific use case in mind keep an eye open for the other team options, I was shopping around for a new GPU and I managed to find a 6800 XT for 80€ less than the cheapest 3070.

Yep, but it won't be a requirement anymore for anything that's Space Shuttle or airliner sized and isn't exactly one of those two things.

@ 80 bucks, it's not really worth it to go for a cheaper, less powerful option. Makes more sense to spend the extra 100 for supiror performance. If you could find a 7000 series AMD for cheap, then I would say go for it since the 7000 series has the same performance as the 3000 series from Nvidia.

True. I am excited to see what people can do with the new wing system.
