What did you do in KSP1 today?

I'm currently rolling down a steep mountain side while my chute is still deployed (thankfully). This is going to be a while... I did rendezvous with a science station in Kerbin orbit, grabbed 2 scientists off of it and flew off to my Mun station and docked to do some plant station science before this little adventure.

Today, I managed to kill 3 kerbals in a horrible accident involving a payload fairing, a huge 1-launch Duna ship and large fuel tanks. Turns out fairings are harder than we anticipated.

EDIT: Luckily, it was a "simulation"

Spent the last three days on a cinematic. It was my first time using Sony Vegas on this much of a scale, and while it's certainly not the best out there, I'm proud of it.

But yeah, that's about it for today.

After a good few weeks of development, I flew STS001 with my shuttle Britannia, to deploy the QSS Sedgwick Mining Module to the surface of Serran. I used a bit too much fuel in the landing, had enough to fly back to Serran orbit but not get home. No problem, I can send more fuel.

(STS - Serran Transportation System. QSS - Que Serran Serran, the name of the to-be base.)

We have LIFTOFF of STS001. Destination: Serran

Completed the asteroid section of the Tourism Plus Space Casino. Now I just need to add accommodations for 95 guests.

Then I deorbited the propulsion section of the core, on a death dive almost straight down. Turns out it wasn't a death dive, when I set it rolling. I guess I should have added parachutes so I could recover it. Nothing survived impact.

Really like the Stukas and the bombers. Don't think a Tiger I barrel wobbled that much.

I doubt it did too, I think it was the structural stability of the tank. It was filled with SRBs and decouplers for the explosion sequence and the gun was really heavy.

True. Liked it though. You should make more.

After my two Rovers scouted the possible landing zones for my manned Munar mission I finally sent my first Kerbals to the Mun this weekend. Here is what I did:

First I tested the Surface Experiment Pack nearby KSC. Bill and Gity experiencing no problems whatsoever.

roeOgIV.jpg

Then it's off to the Mun. Valentina (Pilot), Alayna (Engineer) and Gity (Scientist) are the chosen Kerbals. Valentina will stay in Mun Orbit in the M.C.V. (Munar Command Vessel) while Alayna and Gity will touch down with the Munar Lander.

Valentina: "I can see the surface! And what a sunflare! Is that stock?"

I love the immersion those IVA views give you! That's how things look from Alayna's perspective after touchdown.

I66gccl.jpg

The landing zone was wisely chosen (mix of breathtaking vistas and scientific reasoning) on a slope inside one of the biggest Midland Craters.

Then something strange happened to my save. My framerate dropped to unplayable rates and I could only do my Mun EVAs playing without the adorable KSPRC-mod (had to switch to my classic SVE/Scatterer combo). That's the reason why the ground textures and hills don't have the same quality in the following pics. Here's a view from Munar Lander to Alayna and Gity setting up and sciencing the hell out of the Surface Experiment Pack!

One of my Rovers (Munar Explorer 1) was only 4.4 km away. So Alayna was given the permission to pay a visit. Given she's an engineer she professionally dusted off the Rover's solar panels. While here she took a surface sample as well as luckily the Rover was located in another biome.

Meanwhile Gity did the last scientific experiments in the name of Kerbal Greatness!

Well, you can't stay on the Mun forever so after Alayna returned from her maintenance and service trip to Munar Explorer 1 it was back to Mun orbit where Valentina waited in the MCV. Goodbye Mun Explorer 1 and Surface Experiment Pack 1. It was a giant leap for Kerbalkind. By the way I mysteriously got rid of my FPS-problems with KSPRC so I returned to surface texture happiness.

Almost...

Done!

After Alayna and gity had transferred all Science experiments and themselves into the Munar Commad Vessel the Munar Lander was decoupled and sent to the Mun's surface to create another crater and of course test the seismographic Science apparatus of the Surface Experiment Pack. Then the voyage back began. Here's the M.C.V. in approach to Kerbin.

Great mission! I did lots of Science points and all three Kerbals safely returned to Kerbin. Hope you enjoyed the trip!

rescued a kerbonaut from low sun orbit. The toughest part was preventing xenon gas from contaminating the snacks. Unfortunately, the snack containment unit left no weight allowance for a capsule. But that was one happy kerbal, despite having to cling to the outside of the rescue "ship" all the way back home.

Built another cargo plane for wide load delivery to my KSP 2 base. Actually a lot easier to deal with than the cargo carrier design but each has it's unique uses. I went through several different design tweaks before final flights of 2 different missions.

B376F4C5B8DDFC6B429AAB242DDD66FADF4B642F

Built a trolley system for base modules and saved it to my sub assemblies.

Landed, taxi to position, dropped base hub.

Then parked, hooked up fuel node for later refuel.

You may notice all of the parachutes I put on this thing. My initial plan was to air drop the cargo and let the drone plane crash and burn. My reasoning was that, landing sucks. At least, my previous landing attempts with my cargo plane sucked and usually ended with far less parts attached to the plane than was intended.:D I did a few successful air drops on test runs at KSP, worked like a charm. But, for whatever reason, I decided to land this one and it turned out to handle better than any other plane I have built.

Did some design and simulation testing for a new Eve lander.  My brain is still stuck in pre-1.0 I guess.  The thing is ridiculously overbuilt.

Made Eve orbit from 800 m with 1.6 km/s still in the tank.

Here, it's executing an insertion burn into Eve orbit.

Happy landings!

I sent my Automated Transfer vehicle up to the Mercury 1 (bound for duna) to bring the crew up

JddYTfZ.jpg

Weirdly it's lights in time warp were bright enough to illuminate significant parts of kerbin!

yNRneZI.jpg

Got the crew on board (had to EVA as the only free port was a refuleing port)

42OXeln.jpg

Two days later they were off to Duna, three landers (1 for Duna, one for Ike and one for Nyke)

4YGyfbZ.jpg

Sent off Wanderers 2 and 3 (for Mios and Moho)

5DxL8Mb.jpg

They're cute little probes with 6000 dv

Here's Wanderer 2 at Moho
