Interesting stuff, maybe @Shadowmage and @Beale can give their opinion how difficult this is to code, for example some Tantares docking ports have animations for extending and retracting the probe, can this be coupled with an enabled/disabled state? I'll then just put the male docking ports on the orbital station and dock it with the craft, not the other way around

  4. Recently I put up a big station into orbit with a lot of open docking ports and the game lagged like hell. I dismissed it as "well ok, too much parts etc", but according to this thread on reddit, open ports really seem to be an issue regarding lag. Reading through it it appears shielded ports cause less lag. Here is a fps comparison from that thread: I am no coder, can some of the more able ppl weigh in if its possible to make a plugin that triggers a ports function, or make it behave like a shielded port with an on/off trigger?
  5. I have to agree, somewhat, but imho 1.9 is the best KSP I've ever played since 1.3-1.4, but I miss a couple mods too. As some have pointed out, copy your ksp folder, and with steam there are 2 more things one can do about the updates: 1. in steam set it to update only when you start it, launch it with the ksp.exe or a shortcut. 2. you can revert to any ksp version in steam and copy that ksp folder too if you need some specific ksp version KSP is really easy to set up as multi version install by just copying the folder. Any of you play Skyrim? When Skyrim updates, SSKE (a plugin engine) is version locked too like Kopernicus, every mod that depends on it **** up and you can't play the modded game at all until it is updated.
  6. You are quite right, its more Buran inspired, because of the soviet launcher and the Buran texture of the SSTU shuttle. I've tried to build all the various Buran variants below and I am quite fond of the OC-120 with its jet engines, but for now I have not worked out a practical way in KSP. The latest variant on the right works best for me right now with the SSTU shuttle, but I'll try some Mk3 varitant too, I think there are quite a few good part mods for it. Two years ago when I played KSP there was one part mod which let you change the design of the engine cluster, I think it was Cormorant but I haven't fiddled with it yet.
  7. My obsession hobby of creating a Buran in KSP continues, I have settled with a configuration that is doable. Since a full ISS destroys my computer, I only made the russian segments for this sandbox save. Next on the list is the Federazija.

  11. This game is getting free updates, and no, this is not for granted or standard practice. If this were Paradox instead of Take 2 we'd have KSP 3 by now, with no updates and 20 DLC for each title. 15 bucks is perfectly fine, no one is forcing anyone to buy.
  12. According to a recently published paper it is probable we are alone in our Milky Way (39%) and even alone in the observable universe (58%). To get this numbers they used probability mathematics with the parameters of the Drake equasion.   16. I iam missing the part "minifueltank" when opening the orbiter. Is this a stock part? I've validated the install with steam but still this part is missing.

  18. Seems fixed now with the latest github, thanks. There isn't much to linux terminology, it's just picky with lower and upper case, nothing else.
  19. There are at least 5 Soyuz mods in KSP I know of. Some I like more and some I like less, diversity is good! I imagine Tantares/Contares is appealing to the stock KSP crowd while Raidernicks stuff is more appealing to the RSS crows. To each its own! Make something, have fun and ppl will like it!
