  1. I addressed the fact that this is overpowered, and unlike any real life engine, it is not physically possible in the next 30 years to make such a small, and lightweight engine that runs on a nuclear reactor, and even so, the amount of lead needed to protect the people flying it would make it weigh much more than it does. My mod is supposed to introduce the full reactor, and engine idea, one reactor, as many engines as the reactor will allow, this will be an endgame technology, and it will be useful for retrieving capsules that just got back to Kerbin from re-entry, or putting satellites into orbit cheaply, and safely. It can also be used to put spaceplanes into orbit without the need of a large fuel tank like the shuttle. Sorry if I sound rude, but I addressed that this is a different kind of thing entirely, and I believe it would be just as popular as pork's mod for nuclear stuff. Perhaps I could contact him and have him incorporate the design into his mod?
  2. Here are the drawings for what the parts should look like (I will take suggestions for better texture idea's, or something)
  3. Why do all the good mod makers leave their mods to rot? I know a few are still here, but they seem to just stop, drop, and disappear.
  4. I will make some simple drawings to make out the various parts and what they should look like in-game. NUCLEAR ENGINES INCORPORATED, is the name, and the short version will be called "NEIN"
  5. I would like to know if anyone would like to make a mod adding in a nuclear powered jet engine, it looks like this: I will explain how this works here in a few sections: Reactor: The reactor will come in three sizes, the small, medium, and large. Those reactors are sized 0.625m, 1.250m and 2m. Cooling System: They all produce a large amount of heat, so a cooling unit of the same sizes should be able to be attached to the front, that is the circular tune on the front of the reactor in the picture Engines: The jet engines in-game are the ones that will be used, however, they need to be attached to a special fuselage structure that comes in the sizes 0.625, 1.250 and 2m, that structure will need to be connected to the reactor's cooling system via a special vent that works just like a external fuel line, when the jet engines are attached to those fuselage pieces, they then work using the heat of the reactor, and not liquid fuel. Fuel: You can bring onboard uranium and control rods, the control rods break down over time, so you need to bring a little extra, with the uranium rods, and the throttle opens or closes the control rods. The lower the throttle, the higher the control rods go in the reactor, and the less heat they produce, reducing the thrust, when the throttle hits zero, the reactor shuts off, and it cannot be started again until it cools down all the way. When it is past 75% throttle, it will very slowly overheat, and melt down, or simply cause the reactor to stop working, and the nuclear reaction will cause it to melt, and explode. Protection: the reactor and cooling system need to weigh at least 10 tons each, because they are surrounded by solid lead to prevent radiation from escaping. I hope this isn't too complicated of a request, but it would be really cool to see, and it isn't made up either, the idea came from the X-6 research craft, which would use a nuclear reactor to fly. It was only cancelled due to the probability of the aircraft being shot down, and causing nuclear waste to fall over cities, killing people, but it works in theory, math, and practice if they ever decided to do it. HEY, IF IT WORKS IN REAL LIFE, WHY NOT IN KSP? And yes, I know there are mods with nuclear turbojets, but they are never realistic about the throttling with control rods, or with the jet propulsion part of it, the reactor simply superheats the air in place of fuel, making it run for years on end without having to do anything but have a couple storage area's with 100 control rods or so (1 control rod every week for a reactor of the biggest size 2m) Pictures:
  6. You may want to add pictures of them.
  7. Mind finding me a working version of KerbPaint? Only captured vehicles were painted entirely yellow, and usually they had some kind of different paint on the top, and no Arado-234 was ever painted yellow. Those flameouts occurred due to a lack of air, so I clipped some air intakes into the fuselage, there is a weasley clipped into one of the middle fuselages for added thrust, and realistic performance. Allied bombing didn't give them defects, they were the second axial flow jet engines ever produced, and ran in an aircraft, with enough thrust to bring it off the ground, the first was used in the He-178.
  8. That thing looks like a stealth Harrier.
  9. No, some people have modified the config files, etc, and got it working a little bit, I'm trying to find someone with a working version, so that I can KerbPaint this, but no-one seems to know where to get one that's been updated, although, some people have been doing it recently on some B-21 bomber designs, etc.
  10. This thread is great! Makes me want to make some custom textures and put some things like this together in the stock game! Sadly that requires like 500+ parts per craft, so I will have to wait till 1.1 update. Anyhow, I love the video on the X-1 it's awesome!
  11. You should post the last letters of the album link to get the album. Here is my Unha 3 North Korean ICBM:
  12. I couldn't find anything else to make it out of, perhaps I could use KerbPaint to change them to the same color as the fuselage? Would that be better?
  13. Indeed, plywood and phenolic resin were used in all Ta- series designs, and in the He-162. Phenol formaldehyde resin is the full name. Why was this rated at 1 star? Seriously? Is it that bad guys?
  14. *Facepalm* well, I should have read it better, I didn't know Arado made anything else back in ww2.... ... .. ... .
  15. I made a Arado-234 by request, and here it is! https://kerbalx.com/He_162/Arado234c
  16. Gotthold Peter was flying the first A-0 variant using the corrosive wing glue, which was switched out after the A-1, and A-2 variants for a glue that held much better, and wasn't as toxic, no other He-162's were reported to have lost a wing every unless it was from hitting the ground.
  17. I can make an Arado-234, I can do 150 parts or less if that works for you, with a custom cockpit, RATO units, and nice looking engine nacelles!
  18. Alrighty! I shall attempt a Vulcan soon(TM) I made a tail-less plane for shiz and giggles a while ago... Went mach 2 ASL if it wanted to... on pulsejets... shouldn't be possible, but KSP heh
  19. Yes indeed! Any flying wing in particular you would like to see? I take replica requests for my craft page (in my signature)!
  20. Thanks! I plan on getting a full cockpit, and getting it looking exactly like the real one, possibly upping the scale in 1.1 update to make it even more realistic
  21. I made the aircraft I love the most in stock, yes, it is mediocre, but it will be a WIP until I find I like the way it looks, and cannot make it better. V-1 Current Issues: -Nose -Vertical tail surface sizing -Cockpit incomplete -Engine doesn't have "hump" seen on Jumo 004 due to engine control unit -No tail "bump" to prevent ruining tail when tail striking
