Problem with contracts
Rocket In My Pocket replied to minerpirate's topic in KSP1 Technical Support (PC, unmodded installs)
You have to decouple it via staging (the spacebar) for it to count. If you used the right click menu to do it, it won't work for some reason. Also, everything the guy above me said; make sure it's the right decoupler model. Best of luck! -
How can I switch within vessels?
Rocket In My Pocket replied to Arga_Wibawa's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
He fell? From where?...and from how far up? He may be dead. Make sure the tab for Kerbals on EVA is clicked in the tracker menu at the top of the window or he won't be tracked. Also, an object has to be within the 2.5km "physics bubble" to switch to it via the keyboard. Best of luck! -
Biplane Cannot Turn or Barrel
Rocket In My Pocket replied to SophiaMakoto's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
A traditional plane has 3 sets of control surfaces for controlling it's 3 possible directions of movement. Your plane is missing a set. Nice looking biplane by the way! -
Any Engine to RCS
Rocket In My Pocket replied to marcello639's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
I've made some pretty big VTOL's (like 300+ parts big) and I've never had an issue with just using action groups to separate the vertical/horizontal engines. Really all that would change is being able to run both groups of engines at the same time, but I can't really see a use for this as most VTOL's only have rear facing horizontal engines anyways, making true RCS style control impossible. As far as really huge space ships it would be a touch more useful but it'd have to be particularly awe inspiring in size that extra RCS or Vernors couldn't solve the problem. I'm sure there would be a market for this as a mod though, If for no other reason than building crazy and wacky ideas. -
Kerbal-Kon 2016- Let's Do This, For Real This Time
Rocket In My Pocket replied to kenbobo's topic in The Lounge
We can do it at my house? I have beer and chips! Not enough seats though so bring a chair. -
1.1 New Feature: Cutaway Interiors!
Rocket In My Pocket replied to CalculusWarrior's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Wow, I didn't even notice the new antennas! But that isn't even the coolest thing... Did you see they CHANGED JEB'S NAME TO BILL?!?! -
1.1 New Feature: Cutaway Interiors!
Rocket In My Pocket replied to CalculusWarrior's topic in KSP1 Discussion
This is some sort of joke right? The picture is referencing the heat/aerodynamics overlay. The Dv readout is from Kerbal Engineer. I'm assuming you know that? If you are making a joke I must confess I'm not getting it at all. -
Don't Kerbals on EVA count technically as craft
Rocket In My Pocket replied to FirstSecondThird's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Nope! But I'm looking at it on IMDB right now/ checking out a trailer on YouTube and I'm totally thinking about watching it. I love classic Sci-Fi movies, whether they are genuinely good, campy, or a little bit of both. Thanks for the recommendation! -
I asked my girlfriend but she said I "didn't want to know." Huh...that's a weird answer. Oh well, what does she know, she doesn't even play KSP!

I run into this problem sometimes with early career rockets before you have service bays, rotating the rocket can sometimes equalize the stability issue until you get far enough out of the atmo where it doesn't matter. So as it starts to roll over to one side, you rotate that side 180 degrees so it starts heading back the other way, rinse, repeat. Your ascent should resemble a big elongated series of "S's" however be warned that this isn't terribly efficient or safe.

Yeah I removed WSAD editor mod and I'm trying it in my game right now, I can't find any way to pan the camera away from the craft your building. I'm not even sure this is an issue of keybinding so much as the camera is just intentionally locked to the craft during construction. Panning works fine when just idling at the KSC menu, and it works when controlling a vessel although it isn't so much a pan as an offset in that instance. I'm gonna recommend you try out the WSAD editor camera mod, I think you'll like it better than the standard editor camera. Unless SQUAD decides to change this I don't think there is much else we can do.
-
Apologies if I was a little snarky, hadn't had my coffee yet. So you basically want to use a different key to pan the camera? Because AutoHotkey can do that, it's not even hard. ( A notepad file with the line "Space::Mbutton" would make it so when you hold spacebar and move the mouse it pans the camera for example) If you're really put off by the whole script thing, and you told me explicitly which keys/mouse buttons you wanted rebound to what I could prolly write it up for you? All you would have to do is double click a note pad file before firing up KSP. If you were a better coder than me you could even make it to automatically run when KSP does but I have't quite got that far myself. I understand and respect your opinion about keybinds, drives me nuts when a game won't let me customize the controls to my liking! But that's why I'm suggesting AutoHotkey (Or any similar program, I find it to be the easiest one personally, and it's free.) so you never have to deal with this problem in any game, ever again.

Why does it fail?
Rocket In My Pocket replied to dino1984's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
How heavy is this thing? Heftier planes need more time to turn, sounds like you're getting too far away from your prograde marker while turning maybe? Hard to tell from your picture but looks sort of like the two rear landing gears are kicked out slightly? Make sure they are perfectly vertical. I'm not crazy about your wing setup either, looks wobbly, I hate to suggest struts but...yeah struts. Those swept wings are hurting more than they are helping I think, try a straight wing design it won't put your roll surfaces so far behind your COM. (They are practically in line with your pitch control atm.) You use so many mods that it's honestly kind of hard to diagnose the problem, the COM/COL looks alright, maybe they could be moved forward a touch. Maybe someone out there has a similar mod setup and could shed some light on this, or try out your .craft file. Best of luck! -
It's all in your head. Kerbals are clearly too stupid and reckless to even start a space program. You obviously play as a deranged Kerbal who blew himself up in his own back yard trying to make a rocket out of tin cans and explosives. The entire game is a fever dream as you lay dying in a hospitable, there are no cities in your coma version of Kerbin because your mind is consumed with getting to space.

You clearly haven't played Soma or that idea would horrify you. P.S You should play Soma, It's scary! -

I can't see how anyone could continue to complain about this feature given this information. /thread. You win 2 internets sir. -
Sandbox Universe(2) + KSP
Rocket In My Pocket replied to DiamondExcavater's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Terrain deformation is done by the game's engine. Importing a map from another game wouldn't magically give KSP the power to do that. (Nor could it's already over taxed physics calculations stand for such a huge additional strain if it could.) Plenty of mods currently exist for making custom planets, as well as entire custom systems. Not sure what this would add that isn't already being done? I would certainly support stock custom planets, but using some other game to generate them and then importing them sounds messy and complicated assuming it's even possible or practical. -
I think you quoted the wrong response, I never mentioned the settings.cfg. I mean I'm not sure exactly what you are trying to rebind to/from the mouse since you didn't bother to actually mention that, but chances are you could accomplish it or get close enough with AutoHotkey. That said, plenty of PC games don't offer control customization at all and a lot of them don't let you rebind the mouse specifically. It's not especially unusual or "pathetic" so if you're going to let such a small and common issue ruin your enjoyment of the game, I suggest you take up knitting instead.
-
AutoHotkey (It's free!) Let's you rebind any key to any other key for any game via simple text file scripting. It's not hard at all and doesn't require any coding experience, For instance if you wanted Mouse 1 to control staging it would look like this in the notepad file: LButton::Space Or if you wanted the middle mouse button to toggle soft controls: MButton::CapsLock I love this app personally, I would'ave never gotten through Deserts of Kharak or the Homeworld remake if I couldn't rebind camera control to WSAD instead of the arrow keys. (Neither game has any in game options for rebinding keys believe it or not!)

So what ended your Career mode play through?
Rocket In My Pocket replied to ag3nt108's topic in KSP1 Discussion
A massive ship with one docking port junior right smack dab in the middle. This was before I knew about joint strength and the inherent instability of single docking port connections. Wobble city! The real clincher was that I basically entombed Jeb inside the ship (I covered the only hatch with another part.) since the ship was intended to stay in space forever where it would be refueled again and again, never landing on a planet. Once I realized what a useless limp noodle it turned out to be, and that no rescue mission could hope to free Jeb from his eternal prison I gave up on that career save. -
I'm no expert but I perused the log real quick and found a couple alarming lines: Renderer: Intel(R) HD Graphics 4600 (Integrated cards are very underpowered, does your comp have a dedicated card and the game just isn't using/detecting it? The DxDiag doesn't show one.) Skipped rendering frame because GfxDevice is in invalid state (device lost) HandleD3DDeviceLost HandleD3DDeviceLost: still lost (The above two lines show up several times and seem to imply some problem with the graphics card.) HandleD3DDeviceLost HandleD3DDeviceLost: needs reset, doing it FullResetD3DDevice ResetD3DDevice dev->Reset D3Dwindow device not lost anymore Sending Alt key up to application (This line appears at the end and although it states it found the device it clearly didn't fix your problem.) I checked the card out on pass mark and I think it would run KSP, maybe not well...but it should run. Since were talking about the Demo here that complicates things further... I assume you haven't had any problems playing any other games on the card? Not sure what to suggest here except updating your graphics card drivers, audio drivers, verifying the cache on steam etc... Hopefully someone more knowledgeable will be along soon with a better idea, best of luck!
