I think this is a perfectly legitimate question and I think the OP asked it innocently enough. As far as more options goes, if your a man who identifies as a women...then pick the female option, because apparently that's how you identify and that's how you'd like all of us to see you so...I don't get the problem lol. If you prefer not to say then...don't vote! Tallying the votes of those that omitted to vote is just silly. If you feel that whatever you identify as really doesn't fall under those two categories vote the closest thing and then clarify in your response to this thread why that is. I don't think the OP meant any insult to anyone when he made the poll, and I don't think it's exclusionary unless you intentionally try to see it that way. That said, the results so far are pretty interesting: 10% of those that voted are female (or identify as female) which is more than I would'ave guessed.

Splashdowns: An underused method of landing?
Rocket In My Pocket replied to glen.mack's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Ahh...the good ole' days when it was more dangerous to land in the water than on the land. I think it's still so ingrained in me that the water is a liquid sheet of concrete death that I avoid it like the plague to this day. I gotta start utilizing it now that it works right! -
Wait... 286 posts and you only have the demo? Someone buy this guy a copy of the full game for cripes sake lol!

Thanks for the quick answer! Was starting to worry my eyes were going or something... I think I'll prolly go back to Dx9 anyways, I rarely have problems with ram really, since I don't use very many mods. I was mostly hoping for an FPS improvement but I didn't see much of a change between 9 and 11 on my comp.

Not a huge deal but just struck me as weird, the text when forcing dx11 looks all...wobbly? Like a typewriter with some of the keys offset... Anyone else getting this? (Running at 1280x720 res, haven't tested any other resolutions.) Side by side comparison: Both pics are from brand new career saves on an unmodded (Besides KER) game folder. Also it only looks like that on some of the screens, in other places it's totally fine. Anyways, thanks in advance for any ideas/comments!

ksp 1.0.5 no sound
Rocket In My Pocket replied to occ's topic in KSP1 Technical Support (PC, modded installs)
For anyone to be of help we'd need to know a few things, namely what mods you are using. Also, is it just KSP or does the sound work for other games? Lastly and I know this sounds stupid but nothing is muted right? Check the TV volume setting/In game volume setting/Computer volume setting. Best of luck! -
Asparagus vs regular
Rocket In My Pocket replied to CosmicCharlie's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
I tried Asparagus once but I didn't care for it. Made my pee smell funny. -
Is it weird that I read all your posts in the voice of Arnold Schwarzenegger?

I always use the strategy that gives you science points at the cost of reputation (Unpaid Research Program) as rep is easy to farm but science points are much harder to come by. Apart from that doing tourist missions is usually a good way to get cash, once you have built a ship that's capable/reliable, it's a simple matter to just keep farming tourist runs for cash to upgrade your buildings. Also, what the guy above me said. Always unlock new science gathering parts first if you can, they will give you more science to unlock the other nodes. Best of luck!

Do you consider editing craft files cheating?
Rocket In My Pocket replied to Jett_Quasar's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Depends what the reason is imo. If you are trying to circumnavigate some bug or unexpected glitch in the game then I'd say it's ok. If you are using it to advance or progress in some way not intended then it's prolly "cheaty" of you. -
Usually a plane has 3 groups of control surfaces. A set on the wings to roll (Twist) the plane. [Aileron] A set on the tail horizontally to control pitch (Point the nose up or down): [Elevator] And one or possibly a set vertically on the tail to control yaw (Left and Right). [Rudder] Authority is how well it can control these movements, since your plane only has Ailerons it won't have much pitch authority, and practically no yaw. You can right click each part to set what directions it will try and help control, by default all control surfaces try to help with every axis of movement, so your plane will in fact fly and be controllable just not very well. Picture from google images to help visualize.

"Cheating" is relative to what other players who play the same game consider cheating. Ie. Screen watching during split screen games could be considered cheating to one group of players, while being perfectly acceptable to another group. In single player games it could be something as simple as putting on -noclip, any one else who played the game will consider you a cheater for using -noclip to get through the game...unless they did as well. Whether something is cheating or not in a single player game is largely dictated by the community of people you personally know who play it, or by forum members if you are a forum goer. If the majority of people think it is cheating then it pretty much is for all intents and purposes... whether you care or not is a different matter. Basically you can cheat in a single player game but only in a relative manner to how the majority play the game. That said, if you live alone in a box, in a cave, under a rock, on the moon and you never talk to anyone about KSP or go to the forums then yes, it is impossible for you to cheat since you exist in a vacuum with nothing to compare yourself to.

Try contacting KSP support I've heard that if you can provide them with proof you bought the game legit they will set you up with a download link or something for the new version. "support@kerbalspaceprogram.com" That really stinks about Amazon btw, I'm not sure how they get away with that, should be some kind of warning when you buy the game that they aren't going to provide you with any newer versions so your on your own. Best of luck!
-
To answer what I think is the underlying concern behind most of these threads: No, the average community/forum member doesn't consider using a ship downloaded by other people to be "cheating" or "cheesy" or "beardy" or however it is you say it where ever it is you're from. It is quite common and not typically frowned upon in any way. That said there is no accounting for taste as they say, so...someone at some point will probably judge you or look down their nose at you for not building it yourself. Not that they would be right for doing so, but that won't stop them.

Is it "moral" to leave kerbals on a planet?
Rocket In My Pocket replied to ToukieToucan's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Is bringing them back to Kerbin not an option for some reason? Should be pretty easy if your just going to the Mun or Minmus. The DV required to go and get back isn't much more than just going on a one way trip. But to answer your main question, I would say normally no it isn't since they aren't in any real danger, however since you installed a life support mod it seems like your obviously interested in an element of danger/morality. So in your case yes, it would be immoral. Also, if it's a one way trip why not just send an unmanned probe? -
"Cheating" is a group social perspective when it comes to video games. Everyone is always arguing that the only thing that matters is what you personally consider cheating but that just isn't true in my opinion. One of the greatest things about video games, movies, books, etc... is that we and others have had the same experience and can discuss it afterwards, for that to happen there has to be simple defined rules about what constitutes that "experience." Ie. If you cheat your way through a videogame by lets say making yourself max level you will have had a very different experience from someone who actually grinded and struggled through the game and so the two of you will be unlikely to have comparable "experiences" that you can later share or discuss. So ultimately when someone new to the forums makes one of these threads asking if lets say "MechJeb" is cheating for example, he's entirely justified in wanted to know the community's (or group's) opinion on what would be considered cheating. Because if he uses said mod and no one else does it's going to create a potential barrier between them every time he wants to discuss KSP or ask them a question about it. By definition a game has to have rules to be a game, and we all have to agree on those rules for the game to be fair, since we all agree on these rules something can only be cheating if the others who play the game perceive it to be. That said, I got no problem with mods or cheating, to each his own. But if someone played KSP by just downloading pre-existing ships and then hyper editing them into place...would you really have anything to discuss with them? You practically aren't playing the same game anymore, you have no common experiences, and odds are that your way of playing (Actually building and flying ships.) is as alien to him as his is to you. TLDR; It's ok to cheat and/or mod as long as everyone else is doing it! Lol

[1.3.0] Kerbal Engineer Redux 1.1.3.0 (2017-05-28)
Rocket In My Pocket replied to cybutek's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
I've been doing this as well lol. I mean don't get me wrong I love the tape recorder model, but just only on certain things like stations. I remember when I first started using Kerbal Engineer and I kept trying to figure out the difference between the chip and the tape deck so for a while I was slapping them both on everything because I figured they did different things lol! -
[1.3.0] Kerbal Engineer Redux 1.1.3.0 (2017-05-28)
Rocket In My Pocket replied to cybutek's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Odd question maybe, but does anyone know of any alternate part models besides the 2 it comes with? They are both rather large and sometimes I'd like to use something smaller or even just different looking. I know MechJeb has some alternate models if you look around for them, was hoping maybe some 3rd party made a couple for KER. Thanks in advance! -
Allow EVAs via connected parts.
Rocket In My Pocket replied to se5a's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
Depends which cockpit/pod you are talking about, but like I said I'm not against his idea I was just stating a rationalization about why I think it is currently the way it is. All opinions aside, wouldn't this be a pretty easy thing to mod in? Perhaps someone already has, who knows? -
Allow EVAs via connected parts.
Rocket In My Pocket replied to se5a's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
It's a general statement, Wasn't referring to any one particular model of cockpit. Sure some of them actually may appear to have enough extra room depending on how the IVA is modeled but we can't go deciding it case by case, it has to be one blanket rule for all of them for simplicity's sake. The basic logic holds true in my opinion, if a command module is full of Kerbals then it doesn't really have enough free room for additional Kerbals to move through it. -
help
Rocket In My Pocket replied to halp1!'s topic in KSP1 Technical Support (PC, unmodded installs)
No parts at all? As in the parts list on the left side of the screen is completely blank? Could you show us a screenshot of that? Computer specs wouldn't hurt either. -
Allow EVAs via connected parts.
Rocket In My Pocket replied to se5a's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
I kinda like this idea from an ease of use/quality of life perspective, but at the same time it seems pretty realistic to me that they would need a clear/open path to the door. For example; have your friend get in the drivers seat of a car, now try to get into the passenger seat by climbing over top of him. Not too easy is it?
