KSP II? KSP Remastered?
Ozymandias_the_Goat replied to Klapaucius's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
@3_bit, good video, but could you please embed the link? It’s a bit tedious to copy/paste the link. No problems with the videos though, it’s just that I was going to bring it up myself, until I had that idea that you might have brought it up. Anyway, I think it unlikely that Ksp will get the future development that it deserves. It just does not seem like a strategy that T2 would pursue. They probably just want to milk as much money from ksp with stuff like the making history expansion. Truly, I feel that though we all hope for a ksp 2, deep down I just don’t feel like that will happen. Just remember, we’ll always have RO in v1.3 and 10 minutes to load our mods. -
Interesting, I was going to say that any kind of poll like this is biased for statistical reasons. I feel that few people would come to a thread like this to profess their deep resentment of life support mods, whereas people who do feel strongly about including life support will vote more frequently. This is really just a comment oriented at all the forums polls, and really shows that without a meaningful and representative sample size, you cant get good data.

Good work! If you could, please attatch pictures so that people can better appreciate your work (some people will not be so generous and adhere to the “pics or it didn’t happen” policy). If you are uncertain of your ability to rescue the kebabs upon their kerbin intercept, the standby pod is not the best idea. It will be difficult to get a rendezvous with the return ship, whose orbit may or may not be ideally placed. Not to mention that it would take a lot of delta-v to get the intercept, and then can equal amount to return to low orbit. So you have two options. The first is aerocapture. You could put the ship on a deep atmospheric entry trajectory, so that when the Kerbin return vehicle passes by kerbin, it will pass so close that it will do an aerocapture. The second option is to have a vehicle on the pad, standing by to launch when the inbound ship intercepts kerbin. With moderate proficiency at docking, you could get a rendezvous that you have far more control of. But there is still a lot that could go wrong with that (ie. the space center being on the wrong side of kerbin) and the rendezvous velocity would still be very high. So your best option is an aerocapture, if your craft is able of doing it.

I don’t get it.

To set the record absolutely straight, the 150 billion dollars spent on the ISS were simply not a waste. Now, if you ask me if the ISS was the best way for the space program to spend that money, I would say no. But the money is still not wasted. To respond to your comment about why the money couldn’t have been spent on welfare, well, yes, it certainly could have. However, if you give the space program 150 billion dollars to do whatever is they like with, the long term benefits for regular people in the next twenty years will be palpable, so much so, I would say, that is is a better investment than an immediate donation to welfare. Evidently, there is not the same immediate effect as using money for low tech applications like food donations, but if you think long term, and there is a historical trend for this, the space program develops technologies that help myriad people. Consider the significant advances in medical technologies due to the space program. Or the development of efficient electrical technologies which can help to offset global warming and reduce the number of people killed by natural disasters. The development of habitat technologies for deep space missions can provide materials for cost effective shelter in underdeveloped nations, or the technology for growing crops in hydroponics bays can help towns with infertile soil grow enough food to feed their residents. Long story short: the ISS was not the best use of the space programs money. However; that does not mean that the space program can and does have great benefits for all humans, and it only takes competent leadership to maximize that benefit.

Wolfhound is pretty broken. So much so that I used it on basically everything when it was first released, and now I must abstain from its use entirely as it is simply too good. Just in general I don’t know how to feel about the making history parts in general. Modded parts have always had a tendency to just make the game easier, so often I end up installing more mods (ie. OPM) to make the game harder. The making history parts are basically a set of good parts that are sinmilar to the design philosophy for modded parts: fill in gaps in the stock part repository. However, those gaps are intentional (probably), and do serve to make the stock game a bit more interesting. Anyway this is not quite related to the poodle so, in defense of our canine friend, it is my absolute default second stage engine, as it fits the role perfectly. It’s only problem for me was it’s sub par looks, but the almighty 1.6 update promisiesnto fix that, and I’m sure that there is much consensus on this matter.

How exactly is this a forums related question?

Just a mod? We need an entirely new facility at the space center which just mines bitcoin. The possibilities are endless. Obviously, a product tester for an...err...well...a model train manufacturer?

Yeah, I read Ben mezrich’s book Woolly a few months ago, and it’s basically about this. Despite all the enthusiasm for reviving mammoths, it’s really more of a “hey that’s kinda cool” as opposed to something that would produce significant scientific knowledge (or, in this case, be this silver bullet which saves the world from climate change).

I browsed a forum for a space simulation game that I rarely even play any more play every single day, because its one of the few places in the whole world with large numbers of like-minded-ish people to shoot the breeze with

The new “What funny or interesting thing happened in your life today” thread starts here. Buy really, if base ten is so archaic, what does the alien have that’s better? What if he came across a programmer and learned of hexadecimals or binary? What if he came to earth a few thousand years ago and found the Babylonian base 60 system? I mean, how does he do maths? Answer: Roman numerals, of course

That’s essentially the first thing that popped into my head when I saw this too. Some of these guys are even teams who participlated in the X-prize, such as master and moon express.
