  1. In that case, the sun will have burned through its hydrogen mighty soon! More reason to get that interstellar tech.
  2. This isn’t a great solution for one big reason: the positions of planets. When you timewarp, they move a huge distance in a very short amount of time. Thus, if any player on the server does not want duna jumping halfway around its orbit, there will be some problems. (I do admit that I do not use any multiplayer mods, so I don’t know if this is an accurate portrayal, but it seems like a major impediment to me).
  3. I must say, the TGV was my favorite as well. All in all, excellent work!
  4. True, but they still don’t look very realistic. Plus, now almost every other fuel tank in the game gives you the option to choose between a white or orange paint scheme. Honestly, I would never use that part anyway. If you want a realistic LM, one of the challenges is making it with the stock parts to look realistic, so just having s fully functional ascent stage is kind of...fruitless. And as far as functionality, don’t even mention it: it’s litetally useless. Agreed. With 1.6, I use the mk2 lander can occasionally as a rover chassis, but if I need a small cabin for a lander ascent stage, I use the pomegranate reentrry module from making history. It’s small, seats three, and doesn’t look egregious .
  5. Pretty much the same for me, but I use 6.4x, SMURFF, and tweakscale. It’s a sort of “RO-lite”.
  6. Not as if they ever have any idea what to do about anything ever.
  7. Unless you are an RSS/RO player (see the above post), you would probably be tempted to say “the newest version”. Although, personally, I have only started playing with 1.6 yesterday, when all my mods were updated.
  8. Musk says that stainless steel will be lighter because they need to use less; apparently the strength of his high chrome-nickel content alloy is increased by 50% at cryogenic temperature. Though, I am under the impression that carbon fiber is four times less dense than stainless steel 300 series. Can you really omit so much material, so that the weight breaks even? Additionally, he talk about a “regenerative heatshield”, which leaks fuel in between two layers of the shield. However, although I will admit I do not know of this ever being used for a heat shield, didn’t the sr-71 do something very similar, leaking fuel onto its skin to seal gaps as the airframe expanded under severe heat?
  9. An unrelated piece of advice, if you want to reference another forumer’s name, you introduce then with an alphasand (at-sign), instead of just naming them. For example, instead of writing “Kerbka47A” write instead, @Kerbka47A
  10. There seems to be a disproportionately high amount of train related images on this thread.
  11. Why fight with the senate for funding when one can merely become the senate? Even the first soviet rockets had failure rates lower than that.
  12. Not really, because somebody still needs to want to buy their services. They are just merely changing what their service is, not providing a demand for their own service. That’s not how bandwagons work!
  13. Thoguh, this is not really a practical policy, as exploring mars for just four years is impractical. To justify the expenditure, you need more like three missions over a decade, or a very long distance rover. A mission to Mars cannot be a pawn in a political struggle, or it’s not happening at all. Although to be fair, once a crew launches for mars, what can an incoming president who opposes the space program do, short of cancelling future missions, which are not guaranteed anyway. Stage an “accident” for the crew? (Real potential for cringy sci-fi here)
  14. Found the most liked post on the forums. Would you mind if I add one more to that?
  15. 6/10 I see you frequently, but not that frequently, primarily around the lounge.
  16. Banned because no person who isn’t a Russian accountant (I shall take the liberty to assume that you aren’t) should, in their right mind, have comprehensive knowledge of russian accounting software.
  17. I mean, you need to have some trust in NASA. They would never fly a vehicle under less than optimal conditions, right? Plus, I’m sure they ran “highly accurate” physics simulations using kerbal space program, and they figured that they can refuel the rocket a thousand times if they like. Though, aside from that, one would think that the fact that booster has merely been sitting on the pad would put a lot of physical stress on it.
  18. Buzz Aldrin advocates for s Deimos landing before an actual Mars landing in his book mission to Mars. A Deimos mission would be slated 3.5 years before the actual Mars landing as a base for the teleportation of equipment on Mars, allowing robot to be controlled with humans near by to respond should they need quick thinking. It has also been theorized that Deimos might contain material ejected from Mars in antiquity, in which there is a chance to discover frozen ancient Martian life.
  19. I did too, although I do think of this thread any time that exoplanetology comes up. It’s incredible how effective citizen science is; the human’s inherent skill to recognize patterns is astonishing.
  20. It is certainly an...unorthodox method. I have a hunch that it would help more with the foam production, though.
  21. One of my favorite mod sets is @Nertea‘s near future tech set, although you may find some parts a little bit cheaty in sandbox mode. His stock station parts redux is also a great mod for building spacecraft and space stations. The planetary base systems mod also does a similar thing, but is tailored towards ground bases. And then, of course, the classic Kerbal Inventory System (KIS) and Kerbal Attachment System (KAS) are very helpful for modular constaruction, which seems to be what you asked for.
  22. Whatever you don’t want it to be How many ghosts could the ghostbusters bust if the ghostbusters could bust ghosts?
