Eyes Turned Skywards - The Missions
notJebKerman replied to Drakenex's topic in KSP1 Mission Reports
I know I'm a bit late on this but... Is that Minotaur custom made or from a mod? -
@benjee10 Added the rebalance of hydrolox tanks to a pull request on Github (along with rebalance of SRB thrust and addition of RealPlume configs).
-
I have corrected the tank sizes and will open a pull request on Github when I get home today.

I've been using this mod for a few weeks now and love it so far. The only complaint I have is with the fuel anmounts in cryogenic fuel tanks - they're way off, they only hold around 40% of fuel in an equivalent procedural tank. While this may not be a problem in stock system, in 2.5x most stockalike mods are balanced for, that additional performance is necessary.

Mission modules are meant to be used on Block III+ & IV (and V for flights to Freedom). Those spacecraft use the smaller SM which doesn't hold supplies at all and is only used for LEO missions. As I've said the purpose of the mission module is to take over the components in CM in order to make space for two more seats. While adding supplies to the descent stage would make sense, it would be really unrealistic. It's not pressurized, connected only at a few points and doesn't really hold anything but propellant and an engine. But the DS should probably have a waste tank that was used on later Apollo missions.

[Old Thread] KRE - Kerbal Reusability Expansion
notJebKerman replied to EmbersArc's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
I've tested them with AB Launchers' Energia boosters (Zenit 1st stage). Will try to find the screenshots. But if you want to try i something simmilar I would recommend using the new ones from Tantares. EDIT: The original reply is here but since then the screenshots were removed (probably timed out on imgur since they were just uploaded not actually posted) and I'm no longer hosting the Dropbox download link. But recreating a Baikal booster shouldn't be too hard... -
If we're talking about separating it into packs I would prefer separation by launcher family. (f.e. Saturn, Titan, Delta, Atlas, common upper stages, early rockets, spacecraft. Or maybe just pack the spacecraft with the most likely launcher family (Apollo->Saturn, Gemini->Titan, Mercury->Atlas/early rockets). But at least for now, this kind of separation isn't yet needed since the part count is way lower than that of Contares and the whole mod is focused on a specific country and era. And you know... You can always just use the Janitor's closet.

[1.9.X] Tantares and BDB now in Colors!
notJebKerman replied to Drakenex's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
@Drakenex Are you planning to switch to stock texture switch or keep using Firespitter (which is not a problem for me since I'll still keep it for some other mods)? -
One solution would be to use LH2 instead of LF like irl RD-0120. It'd decrease the anmount of fuel in the tanks by mass and allow nerfing the engines' thrust... But if you aren't planning to do that it's probably best to just keep it as it is.

It looks great, but isn't 2.5 m diameter too large for use as an Energia booster? And IRL Proton's diameter is nearly double that of Zenit... (7.4m vs 3.9m)
