  1. What? No. What part do you think is tweakscaled? @qzgy thanks, I'll edit that in.
  2. October 1946: Vought F6U Pirate The Vought F6U Pirate was the company's first jet fighter, and the first naval fighter with an afterburning engine. However, due to the period of rapid technological advancements in the field of jet planes, coupled with a relocation of Chance-Vought's production line during the construction of the Pirate, the F6U was rendered almost obsolete by the time the order of 30 was finished. Operational History After a demonstration, the Pirate was deemed unfit for operational use, due mainly to it's underpowered engine. No more orders for the plane were placed, and the 30 already built were relegated to training and development flights. They were take out of storage later though- for use as static ground targets. Download https://www.dropbox.com/s/zqevn17zi80g81s/Vought F6U Pirate.craft?dl=0 The replica is very stable and easy to fly, though the mass is quite far back, so watch out for tailstrikes on landings. The engine is thrust limited to 60, keeping just under the speed were Ksp shows sound barrier effects. Due to part limitations, I was not able to include an afterburner. 3. Expect the Pirate early tomorrow, I'm going to start working on the write up right now.
  4. So... my AAAAA-1 Turret? The one that can be precision aimed, fitted to just about any ship, and destroyed the KSS Wasp in one shot?
  5. Thanks. Just to let you know, you don't actually need the loadmeta. file, the game generates that itself when it is loaded.
  6. I consider the G3 a multi-role weapon, it does good damage to most conventional ships while being fairly light. I don't really know what you mean about building for specific tasks, I try and keep my things as versatile as possible.
  7. That is a problem with the EX-7, but it's easy to fix, in battle, I just need to right click the parts and autostrut them. So yeah, I would still use it. Actually, could you send me the persist? I'd like to inspect the damage.
  8. Thanks, if you are looking to test your missiles, as well as the EX-7, I would reccomend trying out @ScriptKitt3h's NX-16 Defiance picket ship. It has incredible armour, I test all my missiles against it. The only kills I have got on it are by gutting the engine section or just repeated pummelling it with I-Beams, its structure seems invincible, and its internals have redundant backups, its the most resilient ship I've tested against. Here it is after being hit by 12 I-Beams and the precursor to the G3 Torpedo. It's still alive, having missiles, both engines, control and one fuel tank. I think you can find it here, and it's good to test against different armour style built by different people, you can learn a lot about how to build.
  9. If you are going for landing, I would highly recommend doing it on Minmus first. The lower gravity is much more forgiving, and you don't need nearly as much fuel, opening up the possibility of a return mission. Encountering it is slightly harder than encountering the Mun, but the basic principle is the same, and the fuel cost is made up for in the easier landing. Hope this helps!
  10. @Mr.Maxwell I think you can make challenges that you can use mods in, but the challenges have to be able to be done in stock. Hope this helps.
  11. Yeah, I would recommend surface mount comunitrons, this is what it looks like on my one: On a different, completely unrelated subject, does anyone have any American-Style aircraft carriers I can borrow? I have built the X-47A for X-Plane of the day, and want to get a screenshot of it taking off off one. It can take-off just before the parallel white stripes on the runway, and land within an even shorter distance, so it doesn't need to be very big of a carrier. Here is my X-47:
  12. That X-1 looks great, the cockpit looked extremely hard to build, but you definitely pulled it off.
  13. Why do you only try and develop things against me, and more specifically the EX-7? I'm not the only person in the naval battle club, and you will be screwed when the tournament gets started. Can I see pictures of your new missile, and the damage it is dealing to the Hyperion? About my planes, I probably should put them here, thanks for reminding me. I have 3 I built for X-plane of the day though, and I'm not sure if I would be viaolating a unspoken non-disclosure agreement posting them before their feature.
  14. Thanks. Now it's finished, and out the "wishful thinking" stage, it needs a name. I'm thinking of the AAAAA-1 Turret, standing for Advanced Articulated Artillery Armament Array. Let me know if you think of any other words to add.
  15. I took your idea of a missile turret with vertical and horziontal hinges and made my own, smaller I-Beam version, to be mounted on warships. Thanks for the idea!
  16. I'm working on my X-47A right now, and have nearly finished. However, as it was meant to be used on carriers, I would like to take a screenshot of it launching off one. Problem is, I dont have any aircraft carriers. Does anyone have one I can borrow to get the shot? Here it is, what do you think?
  17. @Joseph Kerman I don't think I'm the one who needs to work on their armour, a single I-Beam from my useless turret did this to a Wasp. The cockpit, both engines and half the fuel is gone.
  18. I've showed this on another thread, but I might as well post it here: its my finished stock hinge turret. Right now it can't do much, but it's full potential should be realised in 1.3.
  19. @ScriptKitt3h Thanks! I didn't even intend for the Hyperion to see action originally, but with the weight of ships most people are building now, its probably going to become the main ship of my fleet. In other news, here is my Latest creation, a I-Beam battery that's hooked up to 2 sets of stock hinges, fully articulating it. It's not much right now, but with the uptdated to 1.3 it should be able to track targets and be fireable from the main ship, effectively making it a automatic anti fighter cannon.
  20. I'm not a modder, but I think you could do it by copying the file for the biggest antenna, renaming it, then going into to the config file, scaling it up to 2.5m and adding a few zeros on the distance. If you want, I could try it later, but it might not work.
  21. I would keep the wings at a normal angle, that much is probably to much. You will probably need control surfaces, but I don't know if you have unlocked them yet. You also don't have a lot of wing surface area for the amount of fuel you have, I would take out one of the fuel tanks. Your landing gear placement is backwards, you want a tricycle style layout, with the radial ones at the back. TL;DR: Read the tutorial linked above.
  22. The title says it all really. This would allow for some crazy stuff with stock hinges, for example an observatory that tracks an asteroid that's re-entering it's targeting, Or a com dish that tracks a plane coming in to land. Please?
  23. Well technically you GOT to everywhere with a single stage, so I would count it as SSTE, and you never expended any parts. I would say you are completely justified calling it that.
  24. Yes, it is right now, but in 1.3 you will be able to fire it from the main ship, and hopefully hold target SAS, making it a remote control auto-tracking turret, which will be immensely useful when multiplayer comes out in version 9.99.9999.
