What are you talking about? Didn't you already do it?!! Like, 3 posts ago? Or do you want your challenge to be the bar I've set? Take it if you can. That FG tank drys out fast!

Shoutout to @Little 908, the newest member of our very own "OneOscar" Fan Club! We already have some modified "OneOscar" models ready for download and use in our thread, so stop by and see what the fuss is about! This one is inspired by @Little 908's challenge to fly under the bridge UPSIDE DOWN! Come check us out here and maybe earn some rad flair for yourself!
-
@Little 908This one's for you! I love the inverted flair! We're going to tag you for this one. Once under the bridge upside down certifies one as Flipped "Flying Tiger"!

XL variants are for those who like carrying emergency fuel, or just like having more time on their "OneOscar". Either way, this is definitely a perk and an indication that someone really knows their "OneOscar" well. Great work!

Amazing! Looks like a true fan indeed! Those are some amazing captures. They really capture the essence of "OneOscar" potential and showcase their nimble abilities well. Great pass under the bridge! It's a daring dive, but there's little in life as thrilling as riding that flying tiger!

Sure you do! The "OneOscar" practically flys itself (for a limited time, at a high enough altitude, if you're going fast enough). Practice taking off and landing on the runway, nice and slow and gentle. Just to enjoy little hops. Then when you get good at just barely getting off the ground and gently landing again (all under 50 m/s!), throttle up and try to gently yaw and roll left in a wide circle around KSC until you've lined back up with the runway, then go back to landing... just like doing the little hops. The Key to Azgar's challenge is to fly high enough to reduce drag on the "OneOscar" and use as little fuel as possible until gently sloping down to glide into the runway. At least 3,000 meters is recommended. There's no need to fly faster than 130 m/s, so throttle down if you're pushing faster than that up to altitude. Level off or go higher if you like (or can). I really only use minimal throttle to keep a speed of 90 m/s (ish) after my peak altitude getting to the island- I try to coast down with just enough throttle to hold my speed. Then land, just like doing the little hops. If you want to make flight a little easier, you could commission a "OneOscar FGXL6W" to help you complete a flight to the island. That variant has extra lift and fuel, ensuring you shouldn't fall short of the runway no matter how innefficient your flight path*! (*subject to conditions...) I believe in you @BeastHunter! But if you're getting plenty of inspiration as is, then we at the "OneOscar" Fan Club are happy to provide!

I'm trying to get back into KSP1, but I'm finding that the Stock KSP1, while nice, is not as appealing to me anymore as KSP2. I've experimented with modding KSP before with some moderate success just before the final update, and since then haven't gone back to it because so many of the mods were outdated or incompatible with one another. What I'd like to know is if there is a stickied post available that I can't find, or some sort of a guide like a "One Stop Shop" for mods. Not a mod download site- I'm looking for a user friendly How To guide. I've tried Kopernicus for real scale Kerbin... Never got it to work with the release available at the time. I tried some Interstellar engines, fuel, and mining... Unfinished when I tried, had to install some prior version of the game anyway... I find myself trying to set up a beautiful Modded KSP and always end up disappointed waiting for KSP2 (until a few weeks ago). Anyone else have this trouble? Who's got the secret notebook for making Modded KSP1 stable?

How fast can you fly under the bridge?
Socraticat replied to Meta Jonez's topic in Challenges & Mission Ideas
I'm down. Let's start with an easy bar... twice under @ 400m/s. I'm close already so I'll give it a shot today. I'm working on some Interstellar challenges and I'll inevitably need something to cut the time. -
I'm going to do this, and I'm going to try my hardest to break rule number 4.

I just cant get over how gorgeous that shot is. Great work overall.

I got to the destination with cargo intact, but due to a planning error (loading a prior vehicle without inspection), I had an old workaround of a coupler destroy my photo op. I will return for the ultimate aesthetic I have to offer.

How fast can you fly under the bridge?
Socraticat replied to Meta Jonez's topic in Challenges & Mission Ideas
In review, it looks like you have quite a bit of maneuverability there... I may or may not be back on the drawing board. Brb -
I have to send a shoutout to @BeakyBuzz for posting the fastest under the bridge today! 770m/s! I posted my best of 660m/s as well and made a cool video. Beaky has one too. You can find it in the challenge thread here:

How fast can you fly under the bridge?
Socraticat replied to Meta Jonez's topic in Challenges & Mission Ideas
Ok- That's it for me on this challenge for now, lol. I'll leave you with these two failed passes with some impressive speeds from our new direction. It's there, I just cant handle how long it takes for each pass anymore! By the time I get out far enough to take a shot, I'm left with just enough fuel to play for a minute, then land. I still have to do my apollo mission! Attempt Screenshots in spoiler: 696m/s and 829m/s -
How fast can you fly under the bridge?
Socraticat replied to Meta Jonez's topic in Challenges & Mission Ideas
Nah, it's cool this way too. It is fastest flown under the bridge. No conditions on landing either I suppose. I do think that West to East is more difficult as far as maneuverability, as the hills sort of force you to maneuver within their boundaries to get low enough. From the Ocean East you have a nice flat run to pick up speed, but your accuracy from a distance has to be spot on, since maneuverability at that speed is the near impossible. So it seems to me that we have 2 top scores, but one fastest overall speed (winner): East to West: 770m/s @BeakyBuzz West to East: 660m/s @Socraticat But one overall top speed. I don't mind competing for both, but the challenge is fastest under the bridge as it is currently written. Any clarification on challenge conditions @Meta Jonez? -

It turns out I missed one successful pass last night. Upon inspecting and gathering my data to make this video I came across this pass: Here's the video to go with it. Screenshot is at the 2:21 mark: -

Runway space clutter
Socraticat replied to kellerlk4's topic in KSP2 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
I have been using https://postimages.org/ to get my screenshots up. Real quick and easy. I often hit random things on the ground. Is the debris visible? I'm sure there's still some major ground contact bugs to be worked out. I also found that if I had a craft with to light of suspension, the wheels would bottom out as I gained speed. At least, I think that's happening... I'm still experimenting with that one. -
I posted the fastest speed under the bridge today. 648 m/s There are still faster times to be had! Come join us. I added the craft file I used in the challenge thread.
