I won't set foot in a BestBuy anymore. Mainly because they seem to cater to those who only want the newest of the new, and because they're expensive. I can't stand wireless peripherals on a desktop. Just makes no sense to me, which is why I was glad to find the mouse above at NewEgg. I'm fine with a bluetooth mouse for my laptop, because it is more portable and my laptop only has two USB ports. I really wish I had a MicroCenter. Awesome computer store, and they carry 3D printer stuff..

Because I can't sort by post count

I've seen that a few times over the last week or so. I've heard that the site is undergoing tweaks, so it's probably just some service being restarted when it goes out momentarily like that.

Welcome! I've never played with no reverts, but sometimes I build escape systems just 'cause. I used to have a mod that gave the kerbals parachutes and ejection seats... but I can't seem to recall what it's called and the search function is failing me. Edit: I think it was this one.

Hm. I thought there was a setting you could turn off to prevent it from auto loading the kerbals. If that function isn't in a mod, hopefully someone can make one! One thing you can do to help prevent that is to never have the command pod be the first part of a craft (and therefore not be the root part). I've noticed that it only auto-loads kerbals into the root part.

@monstah I mean this stuff.
-
I do not! What's that blue stuff behind you?

How many of those have at least 2 posts?

Wow... you guys aren't kidding about the GPU inflation. The GTX 1050 Ti I bought 6 months ago for $160 is now $240.

"Error Accessing this save."
Geonovast replied to Mr. Me's topic in KSP1 Technical Support (PC, modded installs)
The persistent.sfs is probably corrupted. There should be a backup folder inside the save folder. Rename your current persistent.sfs file something else, then pull the most recent backup out of it's folder into the save's folder, and rename it to persistent.sfs and try again. Might set you back a little bit, but better than losing the whole thing. -

The "You know you're playing a lot of KSP when..." thread

And a floating camera a couple hundred meters away. -
Why would you put them on the bottom?
-
I feel ya. Not on the "in between" copy thing, but on the not liking multiple monitors. It's amazing how bad even modern OSs can handle it. I really expected there to be a friendly Linux application that would help, but I can't really find one for my DE, so I'm pretty stuck with "make a picture that spans perfectly across all three" which sucks, because they're not all the same size.
-
I just recently picked up one of these. Really comfortable, responsive, and doesn't get mucked up by all the cat hair on my desk like my previous mouse. https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16826193113

I refuse to believe you don't know anyone that can lend you a mouse for two days. Also, thrift stores are usually littered with $0.25 mice to get you by.
-
Numbers are ridiculous. A man walks up to you on the street. He offers you $1,000,000 straight up, or to double one of your pennies every day for a month. Which do you pick? It's amazing how many people pick the wrong one.

The "You know you're playing a lot of KSP when..." thread

I do this all the time. Right up there with trying to rotate my own screenshots. -
Oh god... the clipping... I wasn't worried, heading straight east from the KSC. I knew I'd be back or it'd run out of fuel before a "sudden" mountain would be a problem and cause a @CatastrophicFailure. So far so good!

KER says more than 2 hours of fuel left, Cruise control is on, I'm going grocery shopping! Let's see how reliable this autopilot is when I'm not looking.

totm march 2020 So what song is stuck in your head today?
Geonovast replied to SmileyTRex's topic in The Lounge
The last few mornings I've woken up with Weird Al - Jackson Park Express going in my head. I'm not overly fond of the song, so I don't get it. -
[1.8.0-1.12.5] AtmosphereAutopilot 1.6.1
Geonovast replied to Boris-Barboris's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
I have been wanting something like this for so long! I really hate spending hours babysitting flights across the planet, I basically just have this for cruise control, but it is perfect! Thank you!- 972 replies

Playing the same save on plural/multiple machines
Geonovast replied to Zeiss Ikon's topic in KSP1 Discussion
I would do the thumb drive. I think it's safest and fastest overall. You could also carry an actual external HDD instead of a thumb, which would be less likely to die (barring dropping it, of course.) As far as corrupting the thumb, I wouldn't worry about it too much. Carry a backup, and I don't think you'll risk losing the save. Start computer. Plug in thumb, sync save from thumb to computer. Play KSP, all saves going to the save on the computer. When done, sync save from computer to thumb. I wouldn't mirror the entire install. A lot of unnecessary data being overwritten by identical data. Will just slow things down, and as you pointed out, possible cause issues. I think managing the mods would be less of a hassle than dealing with all that. Even if the thumb dies before you play on your other computer, there will still be an intact, current save on the last computer you played on. Plus you'll eliminate internet dependency, which is a big thing for me. -just how I would handle it. I'd thought about doing it at one point, but my laptop is so crappy that it barely handles vanilla. It would die if I tried to run the install I have on my desktop.
