I just love the look of a space shuttle docked to a space station. Stations are always cool to begin with, but there's just something about the realisticish shuttles docked. Might have something to do with spending too much time this past weekend watching STS mission launches and summaries. Some of my favorites: Whatcha got?

Starting the game again, what mods should i use?

If it makes you feel better, rep still counts in there.
-
I suppose you could wire up a SPST toggle switch in parallel with your 'W' key on your keyboard. Keep things Kerbal.
-
If they're anything like the ravens in Westeros, not very long.
-
Right? The program's been retired for 6 1/2 years. Does not seem that long.

This one?

Odd RUD at 2,500m

Do you have the original craft file? -
I don't use CKAN. Tried once, but it didn't want to play well with WINE, and it's so easy to install mods manually that I didn't want to spend more than 2 seconds messing with it. But I would presume that it would work with whatever GameData folder you have active, i.e. just called "GameData". Unless it keeps a log itself and doesn't scan the folder to see what you have installed.

Wanted to have two shuttles up at the new station just for the photo op, and a very poorly planned intercept (who wants to wait for like 8 orbits?) put the second shuttle completely out of fuel about 1100m from the station and drifting away. First shuttle still had a good amount... sooo... Station in blue.
-
That's what I do. But I don't switch often. If you've got the room and are playing different sets and switching frequently, multiple installs might be better.
-
I think you'll be better off just running multiple full installs if you want to run different mods with different saves.
-
Not necessarily. It wouldn't have to procedurally generate the probes, could just pull from a pool of pre-assembled crafts included with the mod. I'm also not sure why someone would want it, but it sounds like a pretty good mod for someone who's just getting into it to make.

If you plan on doing any orbital construction or just need precisely aligned docking, get Konstrucion! If you like having stuff to do after you land somewhere and earn science for it, get SEP (requires KIS/KAS, but obviously not a problem there) DMagic Orbital Science mixed with Universal Storage (which is currently undergoing a Huge, Awesome revamp) adds a lot to the game as well, especially if you go with a LS mod. -
This was what I saw. Awesome though! Sometimes the bugs are the best part of the game.

Orbital Shuttle-based Konstruction! Is so fun you guys, so fun. The Reliant there docked perfectly and attached the second solar truss. Crew returned safely after the mission's engineer, Paus, tootled around a bit on EVA removing the modules temporary RCS ports. Unfortunately sometimes you just have a bad mission. The Progress went up afterwards, to attach the science module. Rendezvous and docking went fine, but something happened during welding, and the module ended up being cocked a few degrees. So I ended up sending a small delivery probe with some C4. Module was violently detached, and de-orbited with its assembly drone. C4 is now going to be standard equipment on all shuttle launches. Defeated, the crew returned home, and had a nice landing lined up at the KSC - something I don't do easily. Everything looked good. ...Until Fredpond hit the button for the brakes instead of the gear. Normally not an issue, but hitting the brakes also deploys the landing drogue chutes, which immediately pulled the shuttle into a direct dive less than a km off the ground. I don't have any screenshots because I was too busy hitting the abort button... which triggers the crew's ejection seats. The engineer Julbo, was the last one out and she managed to eject way less than a second before the shuttle impacted, bounced, and landed 157m from her landing spot. Looks like I'm down to two shuttles for now. (I mean.. not really, this is sandbox, but still.) @RealKerbal3x any landing? Are you sure?

As soon as you post. But some areas of the forums don''t increment it. Nothing posted in The Lounge counts.

I was going to say: But then I remembered that it's 2018. So, three years this time I guess. Mine starts right at 2 minutes for my main mod install. ~60 mods. Starting stock is 20 seconds. i7-7700K with 32GB of DDR4. I'm sure it'd be faster if I had an SSD.

Feedback from a newcomer

On the rare occasion I play career, on the test contracts, I will right click on them before launch, pin them, and move them over to the side of the screen. Then I don't have to go looking for them when it comes time to test. -
The wings are full of LF, it's got two airbreathers for atmospheric flight after re-entry in case I come in over mountains or water, so I can get to flat land. This is definitely the best shuttle I've ever done. I've got a valve on the back to drain the tank for the vectors if there's anything left in it, which means I'll know just how it'll fly after coming back down. It's also able to tip the nose up on re-entry without tumbling, which all my previous shuttles have done. The intakes probably help with that, their drag holding the nose from flipping up.

Welcome! Modding, like installing mods, or making your own?

Getting the hang of this shuttle thing. Launches are still a little shaky, but getting better. At least I'm getting into orbit with a payload, and back down safety.... most of the time.
-
The valves are draining resources from the entire ship for me as well. Obeys fuel priority, as if an engine was burning. After a re-entry failing from my re-entry tanks being emptied without me realizing, I loaded the shuttle on the launch pad and the valve on the shuttle dumped all the tanks and the main external fuel tank. Tested it with just Smart Parts installed, still does it.

Thank you sir.
