can't find m700 survey scanner
Geonovast replied to Jiraiyah's topic in KSP1 Technical Support (PC, modded installs)
After you've verified that you do, in fact, still have the original files in the Squad folder, you might have to do a search that searches the actual contents of the files in your GameData folder for "name = SurveyScanner" and see if there's a MM .cfg file that's killing it. Any chance it was removed with Janitor's closet on accident? Have you tried the game with removing Janitor's Closet? -
Nope. Not during, either. TUBM is TUAM
-
This worked, although I'm sure someone who's actually messed with MM patches before today (not me) would take exception to it @PART[liquidEngine3] { @MODULE[ModuleEngines] { -atmosphereCurve {} %atmosphereCurve { key = 0 34500 key = 1 8500 key = 3 0.001 } } } How's that?
-
Then @Snark's option would be your best bet, just ridiculously efficient engines. I was just asking since you can turn on infinite fuel in-game without even so much as a MM patch. I just tested this is an otherwise stock game. It said it applied 1 MM patch, but nothing appears to have changed on the engine in game.

can't find m700 survey scanner
Geonovast replied to Jiraiyah's topic in KSP1 Technical Support (PC, modded installs)
I have DMagicOrbitalScience, and no, it doesn't disable the M700 scanner. I can't imagine why anyone would disable a part just because their mod includes a similar one. I can't tell you how many times I've been up and down the parts box looking for something, and have it take me 4-5 times to find it. Note that it cannot be the root part, so if you're looking without any other pieces placed, it will be darkened and probably harder to notice. You could also try the different filtering options to see if it pops out at you. If it is actually missing - I don't think it would have been on purpose. -
Olex Transfer Calculator

Eesh, I read it as he was already in orbit of Duna. Whoops. -
I use Kazam on Mint. Check your software manager. Couldn't be easier to use.

Olex Transfer Calculator
Geonovast replied to hhatch's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
I'm fairly certain this only works while in orbit of Kerbin. -
Do you? Because every time I click on one of your threads I get the distinct impression that it's not good enough for you. Most of your complaints also stem from that you play on console. Maybe console KSP isn't what you need. Two games of the same genre can exist at the same time. They do it all the time. You're complaining about not being able to be creative enough... and this. I'm confused. If you want a Star Destroyer, go buy a Star Wars game. KSP isn't about making things that other people have come up with. It's about making your own things. Replicas in KSP are impressive because they're done specifically without parts shaped exactly how you need. You don't drop your jaw at the guy that built the Death Star using the Death Star Lego Set, you do it at the guy that built the Death Star using nothing but standard pieces. So you're... what? Clairvoyant? Just because YOU can't think of what they can add doesn't mean they can't. It doesn't mean there's nothing left to add. Unless you can prove that you've compiled a list of every new feature for every video game sequel to ever be released, this point is completely invalid. It's pretty clear you don't like this game. despite saying otherwise. When your new toy up there comes out, go play it. It's getting pretty irritating seeing you complain over and over about how it's not good enough as if someone is forcing you to play it.

Would infinite fuel be good enough, or do you still want a limit?

Making KSP videos (e.g. with VLC)
Geonovast replied to Hotel26's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
It's good you've got two (I've got three), since the way to stop the video ends up getting put down here. When you record the KSP window, it won't show the top bar or anything. The video will look like it's in full screen. So unless you need those extra few pixels, you may be better off just leaving it maximized. -

Yeah Kazam isn't that small. Last capture I did was about 2 minutes and right around 75 MB. I've got it set to h.264, but it has a few other options. It's very limited on options, but also incredibly easy to use. It has a couple source selection options, and you pick "Window" then just click on what you want to record. It can start recording instantly or on a timer. I don't know about full screen, I play KSP in a maximized window. It's in the Linux Mint software manager. You didn't specify which distro you were on, but it's likely available. Try it out, if you don't like it, just uninstall it. -
I swear, it isn't for KSP. Well, mostly not. Okay, partly not...
Geonovast replied to Zeiss Ikon's topic in KSP1 Discussion
I spent about $800 on my new computer that was pretty much just for KSP. Nothin' wrong with that. Would have been significantly more, but I managed to get a 22" Monitor from a thrift store for 9ish bucks and didn't need to pay for a Windows license. -
Blender all white in texture paint.
Geonovast replied to Geonovast's topic in KSP1 Modelling and Texturing Discussion
I'm not seeing these anywhere. You'll see on the top right that the cylinder has a material and a texture. Ok, this is at least letting me see the texture in object mode, which isn't what's happening in the video. Alright, I downloaded the version of Blender that he's using in the video, and it seems to be working. Must have been something they changed between 2.71 and 2.79. -
My mining lander drone is cooler than your mining lander drone.

I'm slowly working towards modding. Even before dealing with the headache of figuring out what Unity version I need and how to use it, I figured I would start simple and just get the modeling down. Naturally it's not working. I'm following this tutorial exactly, but when it gets to the texturing, it's just not working. Nowhere does the tutorial mess with materials, but all the Googling I've done says it's needed. I've done what I believe needs to be done, but still nothing. Just all white. What could I be doing wrong? I'm not getting much help since most of what's out there is sooo outdated.

Making KSP videos (e.g. with VLC)
Geonovast replied to Hotel26's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
I use Kazam for screencaptures on Linux. Very simple to use, work perfectly. It does produce huge files, but I can always encode them down later. -
The answer to all things: Struts! (I'm assuming this is the configuration you're trying for) Only one of those engines is attached. The other decoupler is just for looks, but the struts are enough to keep it stable. This particular rocket got to orbit just fine. However... this is not the way to do this. Best option is a better engine. Or, if you must, attach them "radially" like @Jas0n was getting at. It would be really helpful if you would post a screenshot of what you have. It's nearly impossible to help with any problem in this game without seeing what you already have.

Quick question about mining.
Geonovast replied to Firemetal's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
You gotta spread the landing gear out man! Also, what's that thing supposed to do when it's done? I don't see any way for it to get to orbit. You got a massive landcrawler that scoops them up like crap traps? -
Always been there for me, but I just started (relative to KSP's age)
-
Those are awesome! Big DW/Portal fan here. I also have three monitors, and right now I just have a KSP screenshot mirrored on all three, since managing different background on multiple monitors is still somehow a PITA.

I think all they really have to do is start calling them "Expansion Packs" again and the complaints will stop. Never saw anyone complain about expansion packs somehow un-completing a game. Back in the day, I loved StarCraft. Many, many, many hours into that game, both single and multiplayer. Then they released Brood War. It was wonderful. Added some great things to the game. I was happy to pay for that "DLC." The only difference was I purchased a disc copy at a store instead of downloading it. I know people that have easily shelled out $500+ just on Call Of Duty games. Every year a new copy comes out. It's the same crap, just prettier and a few new toys. Bam, $60 at least. Over, and over, and over again. Never seen anyone whine that the game before was incomplete. If you bought KSP in the early days, you didn't pay much and have gotten every update for free. If you bought it recently... you still didn't pay much and have gotten every update for free. If the constant updating bothers you, then you should have done 5 minutes of Googling to see how the game has been evolving. It's not Squad's fault you bought something on impulse without researching it, and as @Snark has pointed out, if you don't want to update... don't. DLC is only a problem when it's either required to actually play the game, or if it gives a player an unfair advantage in multiplayer. Don't like DLC? Don't buy it. Don't like Microtransactions? Don't use them. Complaining about it won't make a difference, especially if you're doing it while you hand over your money. Companies still make DLC and Microtransactions because they obviously work. I love this game. Granted, I came in kind of late (1.3.0), but I have never felt it to be incomplete. Does it need work? Of course. Could the career mode be better? Absolutely. Will it? Probably not. This is sandbox build-whatever, do-whatever game. Playing the game is essentially playing with Legos (except A LOT cheaper). The directions suck, but that doesn't matter. Build what you want, do what you want, and don't complain when the next set hits the store shelves and you mix them all together in a big bucket. Also...

Are you sure you didn't just have relays filtered out from your tracking station?
