KSP Crashs after loading screen
Geonovast replied to gabrielnecchi's topic in KSP1 Technical Support (PC, unmodded installs)
Welcome to the forum, @gabrielnecchi. I have removed the log file from your post. Pasting large amounts of text, like from a log file, will cause page display and loading issues to people viewing the page. Please upload your log file to a file sharing site, such as Dropbox or Google Drive, and share the link to the file in your post. Thank you. -
How do I attach 2 large parts using KIS?
Geonovast replied to Grande1900's topic in KSP1 Mods Discussions
You might be able to bolt on a Konstruction port to each half, dock them, then weld them together. -
Thick and thin decouplers
Geonovast replied to S.Bartfast's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
I would disagree. One, people return to Kerbin from places much further away than Minmus. Two, I would say a very large majority of players aren't even aware that you can turn the ablator level down in the editor, or even bother to figure out what a good number to set it at is. The discussion here is whether or not the shroud protects the heat shield during ascent, which I've shown it does not. How much ablator that's available has no bearing on that fact whatsoever. Even if I had set it to 40 and only lost 1, it's not going to make much difference. Again, this is trying to lose ablator. Standard launches to orbit don't make you lose any, shrouded or not. -
Thick and thin decouplers
Geonovast replied to S.Bartfast's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
If that's the intent, it doesn't work. I see no difference to the ascent damage of a heatshield whether it's shrouded or not, and I don't see anything in the part's config to indicate that it's any different than the engine shrouds. Even if it was the case, the amount of ablator you lose on ascent is pretty negligible. I'm trying to burn the ablator off and at nearly 2km/s at 30km I've lost... 1 out of 800. -
Thick and thin decouplers
Geonovast replied to S.Bartfast's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
Yup, that's exactly it. There are two attachment nodes, and the lower one has the shroud appear when you use it. It's most annoying when I attach a decoupler to the heatshield without the shroud, then when I go to attach something to the decoupler, it's close enough to the bottom heatshield node that it tries to attach to that instead of to the decoupler, which is why I want to just eliminate that node in my games. -
Thick and thin decouplers

Welcome to the forum, @S.Bartfast! (dig the username by the way) As far as I'm aware, it's purely for looks. I can't say for sure as I think that shroud is all manner of gaudy and I don't use it. I've been meaning to write a MM patch to get rid of that attachment node, thanks for reminding me. -
You can't move or delete your posts, but we can do it for you. If you ever think something's in the wrong place (your post or someone else's), just use the "report post" button at the top right of post and let us know. I've moved your post into our master "Show off your pictures" thread.
-
@Lewie, I've moved this to its own thread since it was off topic for the thread you posted in but could easily turn into its own discussion.

Let's keep the comments on-topic, about KSP Sales. Some posts have been moved here.

[Request] JetCat P300 Rx Enginge Part - Turbo Rocket
Geonovast replied to Arthur Marcolino's topic in KSP1 Mods Discussions
Moved to Add-on Discussions. -
Exact opposite. The launcher has been defunct for quite some time and causes all kinds of problems. I wish they'd just remove it from the download. You're better off deleting the shortcut and forgetting it exists.
-
Moved to Gameplay Questions. Some screenshots of your rocket would help greatly.

Steam has 75% off until July 9th, GoG is also 75% off until ... ? I don't think they publish their end of sale dates.
-
It's fairly frequently on sale at 75% off, so re-buying it wouldn't be too bad if you waited for one of those sales. Glad I checked. It is right now! https://store.steampowered.com/app/220200/Kerbal_Space_Program/

How do I Land at KSC
Geonovast replied to Little Kerbonaut!'s topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
I use FMRS for the "go-back-in-time" aspect, and KER to see where I'm going to land. It puts a giant bullseye on the ground where it expects you to land. Not quite as accurate as Trajectories, but if all you're doing is a boostback to the KSC, it's close enough. I know the thread title is old, but if you click on the first link for the github fork, it has an updated version. -
No. I dunno about @tater, but I was looking for something more along the lines of this:

Julia and I have different definitions of the word "see"

This seems quite likely. If your systems has a stock Intel cooler, this could very well be happening. It's happened to me with a cooler that was less than a year old. Stock Intel box coolers are garbage... and not for their cooling capacity, but because Intel cheaps out on the mounting system. Those clips do not hold very well at all. You can get cheap, aftermarket coolers that mount in a sane way for about $15 - $20 USD. I have a number of these. Despite not being PWM fans (which means they run 100% all the time), they're really quiet, and running KSP on an i5-7500 it only hits about ~65 C.

@Stewcumber what about doing some actual gear reduction for the axle like a real car? Might smooth things out. Getting some working spider gears in there would also be pretty epic

ARK Survival Evolved had a huge update recently, a big celebration for their 5 year anniversary. That was apparently completely untested. It broke everything. They've pushed out well over a dozen patches since thing, but it's still hilariously broken. I was running a private server in my basement for myself a few friends. Well, we can't play anymore. It's been like a week and a half and it's still broken. I get that any update will have issues, but I don't think they tested this one at all. When it was released, I saw reports of most, if not all, of the official servers were broken. Pushing out software to meet some arbitrary date rarely works well. Just call up Microsoft and ask them how Windows ME went... .... I wanna play ARK.

Outer Planets mod Not working.
Geonovast replied to a topic in KSP1 Technical Support (PC, modded installs)
@Jerel1417, I removed the huge log file from your post. Posting logs directly onto the forum can cause issues loading the page. I even had difficulty editing your post, it was so large. You can upload the log file to a file sharing site, such as Google Drive or Dropbox, make sure the permissions are set for public, and then share the link to your uploaded file here on the forum. -
That probably depends on how many times he hears this every day...
