  1. You have a 9 year old low-end CPU and only 4GB of system memory. You didn't list any specs of your GPU. Given the rest of your specs, I'm imagining you actually don't have a separate GPU and the 4GB of VRAM you're stating is your system memory. Is that right? If not, what graphics card do you have?
  2. I say neither. Get it from GOG! https://www.gog.com/game/kerbal_space_program Although it really doesn't matter where you get it from, as far as the game itself is concerned, there's no difference. If you want to support Squad directly as much as you can, get it from the store. If you want the easiest method of installation, get it from Steam. If you just really like GoG, get it from there. Otherwise I say get it from whichever venue throws it on sale first. Also moving to Kerbal Network.
  3. The Re-root tool will be your friend here. When you merge in a craft, you can only attach it by way of its root part. Either change the root of to where you want to attach it from and save the craft before merging it in, or use the re-root tool on it after you've merged it. The re-root tool is up by the translate and rotate buttons.
  4. Greetings, and welcome to the forum, @Niro! We require all members to post in English or provide and English translation in all sections of the forum outside the International Subforum, so I have added an English translation for you. Please make sure your future posts are in English or provide a translation. Also, since this is providing help instead of asking for it, I'm moving it over to the Tutorials section.
  5. Multiple overlapping threads have been merged.
  6. It sounds like you have the decoupler backwards. Do you have any screenshots you can share?
  7. I think it'll get better attention in Gameplay Questions, so I've moved it there. Welcome to the forum, @Jakewhistler!
  8. Moved to KSP 2 discussion. I'm assuming you mean Kerbal Space Program 2. And no, we do not know when it will be released.
  9. You have to do it at sign in. I wish it was just a profile setting, because you have to remember to check it every time you sign in. Checking this will stop the "Last Online" thing on your profile from updating. You also won't show up as an active user on the main page, and when you view someone's profile, it won't show up in their profile view history. I don't know of any way to remove the Last Online thing from your profile entirely.
  10. It would be great if the staging UI worked exactly like the action group UI. The current setup is very frustrating, especially when you're dealing with sepratrons on a very large rocket, and hovering over their staging icon doesn't help since you can't see them light up anyway, or can't tell which ones are being highlighted.
  11. For most mods, the instructions are essentially: Download zip file. Unzip. Copy specific folder into your GameData folder. You'll need to check to make sure you have any dependencies, but most mods that have dependencies are pretty common, and you only need to install the dependencies once. If you find a specific mod you want, we can walk you through it, and help you get the hang of it.
  12. Personally I install mods manually. It's pretty straightforward, and we can certainly help you there too. Best place to get CKAN would be to follow the directions in the CKAN thread. AFAIK CKAN works on Linux, although you may need to run it in WINE.
  13. Hello again! I got in contact with someone who has the game from the KSP store, and they took a look at the Linux version for me. There's no installer that you need to worry about. When you download the game, it will come as a single .zip folder. You need to extract that folder somewhere, it does not matter where you put it. It's probably easiest if you just extract it straight to your Home folder. The folder should be KSP_linux. Inside that folder should look like this: GameData Internals KSP_Data KSPLauncher_Data Missions Parts Resources saves Ships sounds buildID.txt KSP.x86_64 KSPLauncher.x86_64 LegalNotice.txt PartDatabase.cfg Physics.cfg readme.txt All you should have to do to launch the game is double-click on the KSP.x86_64 file. Do not use the Launcher file. If the game doesn't load, you may need to set the file as executable. To do this, just right-click on the file, and go to Properties. Then the Permissions tab, and check "Allow executing file as program". (At least in MATE, but I'm sure the other DEs are pretty similar. Failing that you can open a terminal in that directory and type: sudo chmod +x KSP.x86_64 ) Then click close and try to run the game again.
  14. Greetings! I too am running Linux Mint, however I have no idea about the command you're talking about. Where did you get the game from? I have it from GoG, which is packaged in very neat single .sh files for installation, which just need to marked as executable and run. Ckan won't help you install the game or DLC, it's just for community-made mods.
  15. I use VAB Re-Orienter, so no. I hold W.
  16. On a PC, if you mouse over the question mark, it will pop up a tooltip that says "has poll". So it's just indicating that the thread has a poll.
  17. Understandable. The good thing about Linux is you can try most distros without installing it. And as far KSP2 ... well, I play plenty of Windows only games using Steam/Proton or WINE, and many of them work just fine. It's not perfect, but it's getting better. In fact it's hilariously frustrating that ARK: Survival Evolved is supposedly Windows/Mac/Linux, yet the Linux version doesn't work at all... however the Windows version works better for me on Linux in Proton than it does in Windows.
  18. Is there any particular reason you need to stick with Windows? If you hate Windows 10 that much, you do have other options if you don't need some super-proprietary applications.
  19. <moderator> A good deal of content has been removed for being off topic and skirting the line of personal attacks. Keep it on topic, keep it courteous, and keep away from making assumptions about other forum members. Thank you. </moderator> Personally, I think it's best to not keep friends just for the sake of having friends. All through my childhood I hung out with people who were actually rather nasty to me. But they wanted me around, I just didn't understand truly why until I was a bit older, and it was definitely detrimental to my mental health. I likely missed out on real friendships with kids who weren't 'cool'. Don't let anyone bully you into being their 'friend'. If people are bad for you, cut them out. It might seem like a bad idea at first, but friendship isn't a numbers game, and popularity is about as meaningless as social constructs come. As nuke said, go find the outcasts and talk them up. They could be quite interesting and are way more likely to become someone you value, and who values you.
  20. Hello, @Kazkar! Welcome aboard! Glad you've picked the game back up. If you haven't played since before heatshields were needed, then I imagine it's like playing a whole new game.
