I never get sick of seeing those gridfins lit up by the second stage's engine.
-
The "main engine" for the SLS in KSP has a sea level thrust of 3,746.03 kN The real SLS uses 4 RS-25 engines, which each have a thrust of ~1.86 MN. 1.86 x 4 = 7.44, or roughly twice that of the KSP part. There's also a massive ISP difference. The KSP engine's ISP is abysmal compared to the real thing, likely for balance reasons as a result of KSP using single fuel for all engines, the wet/dry mass ratio of fuel tanks being horrible, and Kerbin being smaller than the actual moon.

Is there a way to transfer fuel by docking?
Geonovast replied to Claas2008's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
It's no different than transferring fuel within a single craft. Once docked, the game treats the docked vessels as one single ship. What might be tripping you up is if you have the "Fuel transfer obeys crossfeed rules" option checked in your difficulty settings. This will prevent you from transferring fuel across parts that prevent crossfeed (like heatshields) or parts that have crossfeed turned off (like docking ports frequently do). If it's just the docking ports between them, just make sure you have crossfeed enabled on both docking ports, and then you should be able to transfer. You can do this in flight, although I don't remember if crossfeed settings are hidden behind the advanced tweakbles setting. You can also enable that in flight, if needed. You should also be able to toggle the difficulty setting if you need. -
I bought the game a long time ago, around 2013
Geonovast replied to Chik Sneadlov's topic in Welcome Aboard
The Enhanced Edition was a major update/replacement for a very problematic console version of the game. If you have the PC version, you just need to go to whichever store you got it from, so Steam, The KSP website, GoG, and you can download the latest version. All the game updates have been free. The free DLC giveaway details can be found here: -
Maybe the ejection system has some real oomph to it and they'll be kicking them out prograde.

Developer Insights #15 - Writing for Kerbal Space Program
Geonovast replied to Intercept Games's topic in Dev Diaries
Let's try to stay on topic, please. We have other places for debating the merits or !merits of the Orion engine. -
Yes, but to get it to embed you need the direct link to the picture itself, not just the page that it's hosted on. On the page you linked, you can right click on the picture, then select "Copy Image Link" (or similar based on your browser), and post that. If the link you post ends in the file extension, like .png, or .jpg, it should embed automatically.
-
The forum does not host any images, so you cannot upload anything directly to the forum. Absolutely! Imgur is just very common. You don't have to use Imgur, but you do have to host the image somewhere else and then just link it here. Also moved to Kerbal Network

You probably won't notice a performance hit. The problem with running an 8 and a 16 is that you'll be in single channel mode. But since you have one stick now, you're already in single channel mode. This shouldn't (TM) be an issue. You can mix RAM speeds, the system will just run all the sticks at the lowest speed in the lot. Both of the bits of advice above are true for most systems. They should be fine. However, some manufacturers, especially laptops, will make their systems picky for no apparent reason other than to make you buy "approved" upgrade parts from them.

Lower landing residuals maybe.

question about action groups
Geonovast replied to miklkit's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
There's a button on the upper-right of the screen with a hammer and a wrench. Click on that, and it will pop out a small window. On there, click "Edit Action Groups" This will pause the game and let you configure the action groups like you would in the VAB/SPH.- 1 reply

[New] Space Launch System / Orion Discussion Thread
Geonovast replied to ZooNamedGames's topic in Science & Spaceflight
I'm going to be in a waiting room in a building where I'll have zero cell service, and no public wifi that I'm aware of. I might have to watch... on the news. -
totm march 2020 So what song is stuck in your head today?
Geonovast replied to SmileyTRex's topic in The Lounge
Thanks a lot, @CatastrophicFailure -
The best way I've found to counteract this is to have a couple reaction wheels on the rover. Set them to SAS only and leave SAS on stability assist. This way the reaction wheels will try to keep the orientation of the rover stable while ignoring your control inputs (so it doesn't pitch forward when you try to drive forward). You can flip the SAS on/off with F (T will toggle it on/off, F will flip its state only when held) so you can re-set the held orientation when driving on big banks or going up/down hills You can also put some RCS on the thing that you can use to orient and soft-land in the event you do get thrown up upwards or accidentally fly off a cliff you didn't know was there.

Kerbal Space Program, but drawn by an AI! (Cursed KSP)
Geonovast replied to Nazalassa's topic in Forum Games!
Craiyon can be fun and draw some really wacky stuff, but please make sure that any results you share from this conform to our forum guidelines. -

Had a fun run with craiyon recently. My pfp is shamelessly taken from one of its results. It's certainly not the best one out there, but it's really fun since most of its drawings look like the scribblings of a hyperactive 6 year old whose psych meds stopped working. I don't remember the prompt for this one, but one of my favorites. Since craiyon gives rather small pictures, I also ran this one through an AI upscaler.

This might help Also I'm moving this to the Spacecraft Exchange

Just a friendly reminder here to try to keep it on topic, please. There's a quite lengthy conversation going that has become only tangentially related to the topic of the thread. If you would like to keep discussing details of overpopulation and the effects it has on off world colonization, or the economics of spending money on space versus other areas, please feel free to fire up separate threads. Just remember to keep it civil and to keep the politics out of it. Thank you.

Can you post a screenshot? F1 will take an in-game screenshot. It's then saved inside a folder called Screenshots inside your KSP folder. You can then upload the picture to a site like imgur, and share the link to the picture here. The forum itself will not host images.
