  1. I should be asking you at this point, since you've been pretty much pushed the goalposts a whole marathon: You're implying KSP 1 doesn't have ambient light, when it does. That is only your opinion, and your opinions won't change the fact that some (if not most) people prefer this over realism.
  2. A burn indicator would do a better job of balancing convenience and player skill.
  3. I think there's a mod that does this, i've installed it before but i don't know what mod it is. Possibly chatterer. It is chatterer that does this, yes.
  4. It takes a tic to translate the command from one language to another and then another tic to execute the command. It takes a million more tics to calculate the planets and vessels.
  5. Can't Intercept stop being so secretive over KSP 2 and post info more often?
  6. Why would this affect performance? +1 There's enough programming to be done with modding
  7. Some proper sound and atmosphere is something that's missing from KSP - I definitely +1 this. it'd be interesting to hear the low rumble of a massive interstellar vessel settling, or the sound of air rushing between EVAs. Although I don't think Kerbals should speak English, some visible and audible interaction among them (other than reproduction) would be nice.
  8. Wolfhound and NERB are the be-all-end-alls for interplanetary stuff. Ion I refuse to do without PersistentThrust. For atmospheric, KS-25 is just the winner. The gimbal makes most builds stable, even if the aero profile is poorly planned.
  9. Just building the rocket for them does not teach them how to build a reliable rocket. Teach them things like asparagus staging and how to pick engines depending on the environment they're going to be used in.
  10. Both of these images demonstrate ambient light. What is the point you're trying to make? It doesn't matter. What KSP 2 is doing is perfectly fine.
  11. We want interstellar travel, but we don't need interstellar travel. KSP 2 could have marketed itself as a modern KSP 1 remake. Because interstellar ships in the year 2500 will have flashlights strapped onto the side - spoiler alert, they won't. They don't. KSP 1 has ambient light so that, again, you're not completely blinded.
  12. You also don't have to go to Jool, it certainly isn't necessary for anything, but it's there if you do decide to go there. It is hasty to assume players won't want to do something mid-flight.
  13. Well that's subjective, isn't it? We would lose the ability to interact with parts without having to fumble round - that fact doesn't change. You can say that this is just an opinion, but I guarantee you that no-one on Earth could point to an extremely tiny pitch black object on another extremely large pitch black object without some kind of ambient light - equivalent to trying to point to a thermometer on an interstellar vessel with the seemingly needless photorealism being proposed here. Again, fact not opinion, unless people now have the superpower of being able to see black on black.
  14. A perfect sphere, evidently the SOI. A cloud of particles will accrete into a disk, then into a moon. It won't miraculously form a sphere.
  15. You'd be surprised to see how diverse and robust random generation systems can be! Space Engine Space Engine, No Man's Sky, Elite Dangerous, it doesn't matter. Procedural systems don't come even close to the character that the Kerbolar system has, or the diverse situations you can find yourself in while playing Outer Wilds. Since you brought up Space Engine, it's worth mentioning that it is getting functional wormholes and accurate Alcubierre and Kerr metric shaders soon. KSP could have these as well, even if just for mod developers. Proc Gen < Hand Crafted Another reason to check out Outer Wilds. Unlike NMS and Elite Dangerous that boil down to a hastily made sandpit of generic stars, the developers here spent nearly a decade assembling a small (50km) miniature solar system full of unique puzzles and challenges that directly relate to how the environment changes over the course of a 22 minute time loop. I hope KSP 2 features dynamic (even if limited) environments.
  16. What's the problem with that? We wouldn't be losing anything and it'd be a nice QOL feature.
  17. You dont... if you arrive ahead of someone else, then they can decide ( or not ) to warp to the time you are at In other words, sync.
  18. "a couple" (2)< "a few" (3-4)< "several" (5+) "multiple" (1-10)< "many" (11+)
