Has there been any reply or resolution to the experiments floating away after departure from the surface of the Mun, etc.?

Cool, thanks everyone for your feedback! Luckily I don’t mess with Kopernicus and extra planets and whatnot.....so I should be ok in theory I guess.... -

Thanks! Well does this work with KSP v1.4.3? -
[1.2.2 / 1.3] Career Evolution Contract Pack
JoE Smash replied to pap1723's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
This mod/thread seems dead? Not sure, asking..... Does it work with KSP 1.4.3 or 1.4.4....if not, can @linuxgurugamer take a look at this mod? Or anyone else? I find it frustrating when I miss one of those "career campaign contracts" because I am traveling through space and they seem to never be seen again when/if I miss them the first time. This would seem to add "replacement" career contracts....sort of....would be a nice contract mod to revive.... -
[Minimum KSP version - 1.11] Kerbal Attachment System (KAS) v1.12

You never heard of Probes Plus or @akron? Or @DMagic? Well, they add a lot of stuff....especially science. There is a link for X-science on Dmagic's post.... -
[Minimum KSP version - 1.11] Kerbal Attachment System (KAS) v1.12
JoE Smash replied to IgorZ's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
I figured it out. You click on the golf club while the kerbal is holding it. Gives you "Fore" science. Use golf score card. If the KAS/KIS mod doesn't do it by default, then it was added by Probes Plus or DMagic Science Animation. It shows up on the XScience mod that list's science for each location when I had the golf club in my inventory. I just couldn't figure out how to "use" the golf club. I tried pressing x and h....(actually I eventually tried all the keys) while the club was equipped and unequipped, but nothing seemed to work. Then I clicked on the actual club while the Kerbal was holding it.....that is what worked. However at one point I got overzealous and tried to equip the golf club while holding onto the side of the spitfire cockpit from the Deep Sky mod.....doing this caused my Kerbal to slowly start floating into the air uncontrollably even though I was on Kerbin and not in space. This basically broke my save. When I reverted flight and launched my yellow work truck a second time it was floating in blackness and Kerbin the planet was missing. I closed and reopened the game, and upon trying to reload my persistent save the game crashed. I had to rename a backup persistent save file to my default persistent save file to get my game to work again.... -

When you download KAS via CKAN for KSP v1.4.3, is it this old "depreciated" one or the newer "beta" one? Also how do you get the science with KIS items....like the golf club score card? -
[1.8.1 - 1.12.5] Interstellar Fuel Switch (IFS) 3.29.5
JoE Smash replied to FreeThinker's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
I'm not sure what is going on with my game anymore at all. I deleted everything, removed all mods and clean installed the Steam beta rollback of 1.4.3 KSP and the stock C7 aerospace division parts were still sorting by mass all wrong. I am at the point where I am wondering if there are files hidden somewhere on the computer that persist after completely uninstalling the game, and deleting all the folders that I am aware of in the program folder, or if the beta rollback version on Steam is somehow borked.... I stated a brand new game after deleting EVERYTHING and my parts STILL won't sort by mass properly....- 1,187 replies

Basically yeah, I was mentioning that I had an occurrence of the basic stock unmodded initial parachute behaving as if the chute did nothing. It happened twice in a row but seemingly went away after restarting the game. Kerbal Space Program seems to have a lot of interesting glitches.....to be honest....

The thing I am confused most about is it seems the issue that caused me to spend a whole day uninstalling mods and restarting the game over and over..... was still present even after uninstalling all mods and then even uninstalling the whole game and starting a new career from scratch on a clean install of 1.4.3.2152 from Steam. I deleted everything, even all the left over folders and settings files. Despite deleting everything and starting over parts are still not sorting by mass in order. I am wondering if the beta version of 1.4.3 build 2152 is just bad, and I should try an even earlier build? Or are there more files in a folder somewhere that don't actually get deleted when you uninstall....like the unity files and things in user/steamapps/LocalLow....or wherever the crash and log files go to exactly.... Like should I delete all that stuff too? And if so, I'm not sure I know where all the secret locations are were stuff from the game might be...other than the normal program file stuff that deletes when you uninstall the game normally....

Everything was going fine until I accidentally updated this to the wrong version, or just had to download ONE MORE MOD which jacked up my whole game. I want to say I added Fuel Tanks Plus, or updated this, or Interstellar Fuel Switch....no idea what I did actually. Then I randomly realized most of my parts were sorting by mass all out of order and there was no way I could fix it. I eventually uninstalled a few of my mods at a time (starting with over 100), and then waiting for my game to load over and over. Whatever it was continued until I had uninstalled everything. Then it stll continued after uninstalling and reinstalling the beta version of 1.4.3 through Steam. I am assuming this means some value for fuel density must be overwritten in my save file. I don't even know if that is possible, or where to look in my file with notepad.....all I know is my save file is ginormous and I don't know what half of it does. I just hope whatever happened doesn't happen again because I have just about lost my patience with this game. I mean I like it....but I seem to be able to break it too easily, so I seem to spend more time trying to fix stuff than actually doing missions and progressing....

[1.8.1 - 1.12.5] Interstellar Fuel Switch (IFS) 3.29.5
JoE Smash replied to FreeThinker's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
So what mods use this by default, and does it work on stock tanks? KW Rocketry Rebalanced? I have no idea what broke my game last time, but it persisted until I uninstalled all mods and clean installed the game. I guess my save is now corrupted permanently.... Any idea what would change the mass of all fuel/tanks/command pods in my game to some number that made everything weigh weird decimal values? Then nothing sorted by mass properly anymore.....- 1,187 replies

I was reading this thread from the back trying to determine what the difference between the regular New Tantares and the LV version is on CKAN when I noticed this post about the parachute. I want to report I actually just had the no drag parachute happen with a clean reinstall (and no mods yet) of the Beta rollback of KSP 1.4.3 from Steam. I started over due to a badly corrupted career save and made a starter ship with the stock MK1 pod, decoupler, stock flea booster, and stock starting pod chute and had it pancake.... Chute opened at 1000m and did nothing....continued at 170m/s into the ground..... Went back into the VAB and when I right clicked on the chute it said 0.0 meters area predeployed and deployed.....so I don't know what is going on now.... I'm beginning to wonder is the 1.4.3 beta build on Steam is corrupted.... I suppose I will have to report this if it's still like that when I go back in again.....

Ok, got it. CKAN defaults to v1.4 compatible....so I uncheck that and then "add 1.4.3" and check that only....then it installs v2.3.1 for B9 part switch.... Sorry still new and don't know what I'm doing I guess.....probaby why my career save corrupted and I get to start over from scratch now....
-
How does one tell CKAN to install a particular version of a mod? For instance I'm running version 1.4.3 of KSP so I figure the 1.4.4 compatible version of B9 Part Switch is bad (at least according to this thread), however CKAN keeps wanting to install the one for 1.4.4....is there some way to ask it not to, or should I just delete it and install the appropriate one manually?

[1.3.x] SETI, Unmanned before Manned [Patreon]
JoE Smash replied to Yemo's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Any update on SETI probe parts for at least KSP v1.4.3 would be appreciated....I'm new to the game, but actually really like the probe part mod, and the little RCS wheels. I wish they worked properly....- 2,515 replies

That is basically where I am at. I was trying to figure out how to delete my old posts here to clean up your thread, but I didn't see a button to do that.....sorry about the mess. I still have like 60 mods left, no idea how any of the ones left could possible cause this to happen. I uninstalled the game again last night and reinstalled it.....it's still going on. It has to be in one of the mods left somehow (even though it makes no sense) or it's in a folder left behind that was "uninstalled." Thanks for trying....
-
New game also mixed up sorting.... It's also like parts no longer have nice round numbers anymore either....like somehow the actual weight of fuel is messed up....or it's density or something.....but I never messed with that, nor do I know how to....
-
I have an idea, but currently I'm having a smoke and I'm downloading the vanilla KSP stuff from Steam. When I get in I'll start it up see if its still happening, and if it is then start a new game to see if my save file is what is corrupted....
-
The only things I dropped in myself were Kerbal Konstructs and Kerbin side because it didn't have the latest version at the time. I added that Command Seat file you uploaded, but deleted it a while ago. I added a folder called 1.4 fixes that makes the parts appear if you force dx11, but I just removed that fix folder, removed forcing dx11, removed textures unlimited and james webb telescope with it. Reloaded the game and it still persists. I'm down to 80 mods.... Going to keep ditching stuff until this is sorted I guess.....
-
Ok, well I guess I can't figure this out. I keep removing things and the problem is persisting. I guess I need to just wipe it and start over from the beginning....
-
I get that you love CKAN and will defend it to the grave, but it gives me a lot of issues and the apparent resolution is to delete my game and start over from scratch typically. I have used it to uninstall and install all of my mods except for one as well, but unlike you I don't understand why it leaves stuff behind and what to do about it because I'm not a computer genius, I'm just a dude who plays video games. What does ModuleManager.ConfigSHA do? I noticed after my last attempt to fix this, that file is now gonzo from my folder. I just have ModuleManager.Physics and .TechTree.
-
Now module manager has found 131 errors all related to Tweakscale.cfg's. They all look like mods that were affected by this weight issue..... Probes Plus, Deep Sky, OPT, etc.... Now when this happens how do you fix the errors exactly? Last time I had errors, they were present in start up everytime I restarted the game until I wiped it and started over.....
-
On it....I'll at least get back to you if I actually ever sort it out. I'm almost at the point were I delete the whole KSP folder and start over from the beginning....
