So, I sent Valentina to the Moon today in an effort to clean up the contract that I somehow couldn't complete with Bob (collect a Moon stone and return it to Earth). Landed at the North Pole biome (contract says it can be found in Midlands, Mare Nectaris, or North Pole biome)...and couldn't find one. Am I missing something here? Do Moon stones not exist in KSRSS? It's hard to see if they are even there due to the overabundance of terrain features, and I am not sure I can complete this without cheating my way through it. Anybody have an idea of what I'm supposed to look for? Do they look the same as in the normal stock game?

Thankfully. I fired it up today and dropped Valentina on the Moon to grab some science so I can get better engines. And I'm grateful for the modders; this career I'm talking about is KSRSS with Un Kerballed Start and a lot of Near Future. Now if someone could only craft a mod to hide outdated parts in the VAB...

This is the most likely scenario. Maybe updating a font or two, or possibly cleaning up a graphic or three. And that's at most. I think you're right on that they are doing something to slap the 1.0 tag on it and then walk away as if they just dumped the trash bag in the bin.

It would mean that someone is doing something, albeit to a game that won't see anything major happening to it. It could be automated, it could be bug fixes...it could be updating the internal clock to match the current date/time. What it really means is...nothing.

I can't speak to the specific automated system in question, but in my job I can create schedules for any days or times I want. Only want it Mondays? Done. M-F only? Yep. Every other Saturday? You bet. Now, that doesn't mean they have the same capabilities, or that they created a schedule that doesn't include weekends (assuming, of course, that the whole automated update thing is correct). But they could potentially create one that doesn't do weekends. I don't know why they would, but it is feasible. I so want to see this on LD&R now.

I realize that we aren't a very large section of the overall gaming community, and that we probably don't generate a whole lot of income for companies. I also realize that this is a pretty niche genre as far as games go, and it isn't as popular as an FPS or that auto theft title that has millions of players. I get it. With that said, we are a tight-knit and dedicated community, passionate about this franchise and the possibilities for gaming in its universe. We have a really dedicated section of players who actively look to improve the game through mods, and several people who stream videos simply to help others get involved and off the ground (literally and figuratively). And it makes me angry that Take Two and their corporate mouthpiece @Nate Simpson treated us so poorly. We were consistently lied to during initial development, and then after EA dropped we were almost wholly ignored. And now that IG is shut down and a lot of people are out of work, we can't even get a simple statement as to what happened or why. Heck, we only found out this was going to happen thanks to the laws of the state of WA. My thanks and condolences go out to the staff who were on the front lines dealing with the fallout. My anger and disgust is directed at Take Two and Nate. I will never support another title from Take Two, and I certainly won't dive into anything that Nate is associated with.

Eve and Laythe? I've got more than 1000 hours in KSP1 and I've never gone to and returned from either. Guess that makes me an amateur.

Lets not forget that recently we were informed that TT might actually be trying to sell PD. Wanting the show to go on and it actually going on are 2 different things. And you want it to continue when all signs point to it being over.

I don't disagree with you. But you are asking to have an update done to a game that was announced as having development finished prior to them releasing the sequel into EA. And you didn't provide any context in your original post about why you wanted the launcher gone, so naturally, I and others gave you options.

That's...not really news, though. Today is the last day the studio is open. We knew this was going to happen today. We knew development would stop.

Open the folder location and create a desktop shortcut directly from the KSP executable.

I think the sentiment is that people are disgusted that TT is trying to get one last breath's worth of money out of this before it goes the way of the dodo, after having not given any information on the game or its future (although we all know/assume it's dead). I think that's what people find disgusting, not that the game is still available. I do agree that anyone who purchases the game at this point is just blind. Reviews are available, news is available (what little there is), the forum is still up and running, Reddit hasn't gone anywhere. You buy this unpolished lump of organic matter at this point and you are just throwing money away.

That isn't surprising. Not to me, anyhow. Today is the last day the lights are on, but they are still on today. Which means that, if anyone is actually employed there through today AND they are still working, I'm not surprised that some work is being done. With that said, I'm surprised anyone who is still employed is actually doing anything of value. I know people don't want to go out on the wrong foot, and they want to make sure that they don't burn any bridges. But me? I'd be all like "Um, no, last day, not doing anything, think I'll take lunch early".
