I think what people are forgetting is that in a science or career game struts aren't available until you get General Construction...and autostruts aren't available until then either. So players do get a lesson in wobble up to that point, at which point technology makes it obsolete.

Flickering burn indicators.
Scarecrow71 replied to TwoCalories's topic in KSP1 Technical Support (PC, modded installs)
Do you have shots of the craft you are flying? Is it possible that you have engines in different stages activated at the same time? Also, can you give us some details as to the nature of the maneuver, such as where you are at currently and where the maneuver is supposed to take you? -

Granted, but you are incapable of actually experiencing it. I wish I had a cup of coffee. -

Well, that's partially correct. Respectful criticism is fine. The way some of these conversations go...not so much.
-
And as I said above, have tutorials to tech the player about wobble and how to correct it. Problem solved.
-
Ah, if only I didn't have bills and a wife who literally needs insurance.
-
Are you just looking to start an argument? Are you incapable of answering a question without a question? I've answered the way I'm going to answer, and you aren't going to accept my answers without asking more questions. I've given what I have. Either accept it or don't.
-
Um, the truth? Like, the actual truth, which we know we will never get. I can't make it any more plain to you than that. In meetings. To hostile management. Where I lose my job and the company loses millions if I refuse to be a team player. We all have to do stuff we don't like or may be uncomfortable. But we're all adults; if they can't handle the heat... Giving release estimates that they have been told to give? Yes. Making stuff up on the fly? No. Again, the truth. And I never said to point fingers or lay blame on someone else. Speaking to another part of the team is not the same as blaming someone else for stuff that happens.
-
You are correct that something may be wrong in the build. My original suggestion was simply that, because new players may not understand this, or why it's happening, something should be in the game to help them address this. Simply giving us struts without explanation won't help new players.
-
Wow. I don't even know how to respond to this other than to say "You aren't the only person playing the game, and your experience may not mirror what others experience". I mean, just because you don't need it doesn't mean nobody else does.

So after promising more transparency, you are going to slow down the cadence by which you communicate with us? I mean, everyone deserves a vacation and all. But no updates for the forseeable future? We've had 3 AMA's now, and none of them were with anyone from engineering or software development or anything on the technical side. The three AMA's we've had were: 3/24 with Nate 4/20 with Shana Markham (Design Director) 6/29 with Kristina Ness (Art Director) Who exactly are we suppose to ask technical questions to when we aren't getting the opportunity to ask them of the technical people? I will challenge and ask you - and anyone else reading this, for that matter - to pick a Green Bay Packer game, any game, and log onto Packers.com on the day of that game. Senior Staff Writer Mike Spofford hosts a live blog during the game where he: Gives play-by-play of the game as it's happening live Answers questions and comments, interacting with the 3000 or so people who join Writes summarizations for posting on the website for end of quarter/half/game Works on stories related to players of the game that will be posted shortly after the game ends Begins working on answering questions for the next days' Insider Inbox (which is where fans send in questions and the staff writers answer them ON A DAILY BASIS) Begins formulating ideas for all other content that gets posted during the week Anyone who is of the mind that you cannot take live questions and interact with people as the event is happening are simply wrong. It isn't a matter of "they cannot do it", but rather a matter of "they won't do it". What answer would satisfy us? Well, let's start with the truth and go from there. An honest, real answer as to why the game was nearly polished 3 years ago but then was released in this state in EA. Let's hear an honest answer as to why the game was pushed out in EA when it clearly shouldn't have been. The truth. Nothing more, nothing less. I cannot overstate how many times in my current software job I have had to learn about and speak to job functions that are technically not my own because we are all a team and project deadlines cannot slip. I am not a DBA, but I end up having to cover for one. I'm not a project manager, but I end up having to cover for one. I'm not a heavy C# scripter, but I end up having to write enough to get someone else's dtsx files to work because they are on vacation and stuff blew up. They are a TEAM, and should absolutely, unequivocally support one another. Which should include speaking to things that technically aren't in their wheelhouse. Agreed...but I'll take it a step further and say I'd like to see less hostility from the fans towards other fans who don't share the same opinion.

If wobbliness is supposed to be part of the game - and, as Nate is on record as saying, part of the "charm" of the game - why isn't it addressed in the tutorials? The tutorials literally help people get up to speed on building rockets, but they do nothing to address what is supposed to be a key issue. Why don't the tutorials have something on wobble, and how it happens, and what to do about it? I mean, the game (and, by extension, the devs) are making the assumption that players new and old alike are all familiar with and understand the concept of struts and what they are used for without ever diving into why they are needed or when.

That is freaking awesome.

This would probably be the most amazing thing since the original EA launch itself. We all want this fixed in a patch, but if you manage this in a hot fix? Gosh darned it all to heck this would be cool. Cooler than the first time I figured out how to actually get to the Mun. If you guys make this happen, my faith in the company, and the franchise, would be restored, and this would give me reason to play KSP2. I can deal with the orbital decay bug. SOI transitions...not so much. So thank you for working to get this one squashed!

Release KSP2 Release Notes - Hotfix v0.1.3.1
Scarecrow71 replied to Intercept Games's topic in KSP2 Dev Updates
Well, I'll just remind you that the track record of the company is working against it. Years of broken promises have eroded trust, coupled with a buggy early access release that was nothing close to what they said was nearly finished a few years ago. You'll have to forgive me if I don't quite trust the company when stuff that looks shady happens. On that note, I have been corrected. The only numbers WE can see are on SteamDB; the company themselves, apparently, gets loads of data from the game itself. Which begs the question: knowing this now, I'm sure this is in the EULA about the game collecting data...but is there a way to turn this off? -
Release KSP2 Release Notes - Hotfix v0.1.3.1
Scarecrow71 replied to Intercept Games's topic in KSP2 Dev Updates
I disagree. Player numbers have been dwindling for some time now, and the only counts that the company can get are through Steam (as there are no metrics captured for Epic or direct-download from the store). What better way to boost numbers than to force people back into using the launcher? -
Agreed. While the textures look great from space, landing on a planet still shows us the same old, same old. Uninspired/unimaginative terrain, some hills, maybe a rock here or there. It's just plain boring. Color me as one of those people who really don't understand what HDRP and/or CBT are supposed to really do. I keep hearing the acronyms, but I've not yet heard what they are supposed to do, nor have I actually seen examples of what things are supposed to look like both with and without them. So I simply don't get why everyone is so excited about this. At this point I'm simply waiting for one of the modders to take care of this. TT/PD/IG doesn't really have a good track record right now with the things they've promised the community. Simply put, the current UI is ugly. Big, unnecessary blocks of stuff just taking up space for the sake of taking up space. The information is hard to find, it's not very intuitive, and it needs a reskin. Not to mention there are things the UI should be showing but isn't (like TWR). For starters, how did they leave these out to begin with? Are Kerbals now born with the ability to simply fly?

What do you expect from the Science Update?
Scarecrow71 replied to GGG-GoodGuyGreg's topic in KSP2 Discussion
At this point, if I'm being honest...I don't expect much. It is the first feature on the roadmap, and they aren't telling us anything about it other than some hints in the AMA and a couple of new animations. Zero actual, tangible information about the direction they are taking this. In addition to that, Nate recently stated it was "months away," which puts this coming out no sooner than Q4...and quite possibly not until after the 1st of the year. My prediction is near the anniversary of EA release, and quite possibly not until after it. -

Nope. I wonder who we would have to pay to get someone like @Dakota to show up.

Grantes. You are at the starship. But you are not on or in it. Rather, you are near it. In deep space. With no suit. Oh, you would feel joy cold space is if you hadn't asphyxiated. I wish I could survive in space without artificial life support. -
