intro: I personally dropped the game weeks after Day 1 and waiting for the Science update and hoping it’s fleshed out enough to make it worthwhile for me. Now I’d like to potentially understand other points of view than my own. Judging from Stats, there are at least 300 people playing this daily, and I’m happy for them because they got their money worth. So my question for you is if, Heaven Forbid, everyone was too optimistic with how profitable this franchise turns out to be, and again this is not what I hope, but if the plug would happen to be pulled before the game begins to progress into the roadmap , how happy would you be of with this purchase? In short, for those 300 people, is the game already fun for you as it is now or is in your view the 100% certainty of what lies ahead in the roadmap that keeps you playing it?

I think you are kidding. Seeing how we now progress, there’s no way we would have gotten to KSP2 1.0 by the end of the year (even if they would have postponed the game launch by 10 months), if through 1.0 we both mean the entire roadmap done, even if not fully fleshed out. Unless they hire Chuck Norris to single-handedly code the game.

I don't get why this still needs to be discussed. Players complained about this day one. I consider myself fairly experienced in KSP1, and maybe I got to launch a wet noodle in 1% of the cases. In KSP2 this is more than half of the time. If Nate's argument is that "you're building it wrong" and "if you git good with building it won't flex", then what happened to one of the main pillars of KSP2 where it was supposed to be more inviting to new users (even new ones to the franchise)? I have played KSP1 and I still had to spend much more time strutting than I did in KSP1.

I think it might be that you're not looking at the glass half full or something because everyone in the team appears to be super happy with the current state of the game, judging from AMAs, and they also say they're very skilled and they punch above their weight. So maybe it's just you that feels the disappointment? Ok so maybe just you and 1 out of 2 other players, but who cares about stats?

What is keeping you from starting your KSP2 Mod?
GGG-GoodGuyGreg replied to LuxStice's topic in KSP2 Mod Discussions
Sorry but I think this is the best place to ask this with so many Moders here. Can someone ELI5 for normies like me how much easier would official mod support make it when modding the game and what would official mod support look like? Also, is there any type of mod that can’t be done or is much harder to do because of this? Thanks in advance! -
Sorry if this is not the right category, but I have forum Suggestion and I couldn't find the right section for it. I think it would be very useful to sort by votes, in the bug tracker. You can only do by replies, but unsure if it's the same thing, I think upvotes are different than replies, and don't necessarily reflect what's the bug most wanted to be fixed according to the community.

Agreed. However, this will change if they gamify somehow the multiplayer or add virtual currency, loot boxes or other similar mechanics.

I get that DRM would be a very bad thing for us players but there are 2 big If’s: 1. Let’s face it, if we get to Multiplayer and if it’s matching the current expectations, although expectations have started to be lower and lower. 2. And lastly, if 1 happens, from that quote I get that they’re considering DRM, not that it’s absolutely certain it will happen along with the multiplayer update.

Are you satisfied by the way the game look so far? Kudos for not skipping this question. Now while I get it, I wouldn't throw my team under a bus either, and I also get the enthusiasm (this is why most of us can't help it and reading the updates), can we at least tone it all down to match was it was actually delivered and the public reception? I wouldn't be so bothered by this if it were the first time I see a member of the KSP2 team that claims is proud with the accomplished, but it starts becoming a common theme, and IMO it needs to be more realistic. I don't think anyone can agree that this current state of the game is anywhere close to an accomplishment that a team can be "very, very proud of", unless this is telling of what level of quality to expect from the game going forward...? -
KSP2 EA now on sale for 20% off?!....
GGG-GoodGuyGreg replied to DrDrizzyT's topic in KSP2 Discussion
Did NFSU come as unfinished even by EA standards, at 90% of the full price (justified by the fact price will only go up) being promised it only needs final tweaks cuz there is plenty game to be played already? -
No offense to the team currently developing KSP2 but after such a launch, KSP1’s source code became even more valuable and is quite a good plan B for revenue if KSP2 goes south. Therefore, I doubt it will happen and we will see KSP1’s source code.

Let’s give the man a chance to tell us what happened before accusing that this was the idea all along.

@Nate Simpson Thanks for answering some questions that I thought will be ignored again, like when we get the Science update. My only major disappointment is it was hinted right before the launch that the game is with your words, “in the final stretch”. Why didn’t you provide a clear statement before launch that first roadmap item is estimated to be coming in 1 year? It would have saved both us and the KSP2 team ( especially the CMs) from a lot of headache and it wouldn’t have hit the game’s reputation as much.

Curious about how people, that are stating you should do your research before buying, can explain this. Scott and a select few few people actually played the game before launch, went over there and talked with them and asked questions about the game plans, and yet they still felt like they have enough information and should buy, as they had enough hope the game will be good. Today, one of them says it was too early and most of them don’t touch the game nearly as much since launch. so what’s the case here? Also people that bought without informing themselves?

KSP2 EA now on sale for 20% off?!....
GGG-GoodGuyGreg replied to DrDrizzyT's topic in KSP2 Discussion
I'm in the same boat. I am a little over the refund limit on Steam, but as you, Instead of refunding close to launch, when I could have gotten the refund for sore, I have instead waited and waited and slowly picked up that this is going to be a years worth of wait before it is ever something worth it at the launch price. So when I did ultimately decide to refund, even if I would have received that refund within weeks of launch, now after months of not even starting the game anymore, you can't get a refund anymore. This is why I feel tricked. https://imgur.com/a/WKt6pjE -

GGG-GoodGuyGreg replied to DrDrizzyT's topic in KSP2 Discussion
I don't know who calls the shots but this is a shot in your own foot. 10$ is never going to convince people that were unsure they should buy, but 10$ is definitely enough to enrage early adopters. If this ever reaches 1.0 I'm not buying any paid DLC for sure... -
Release KSP2 Release Notes - Update v0.1.3.0
GGG-GoodGuyGreg replied to Intercept Games's topic in KSP2 Dev Updates
What you mean a version of KSP changed price to 40$? are you taking about KSP2? Overall, I have to join the others who are underwhelmed with the patch, so far I don’t see any benefit to the slowing down of patches, to me it looks like the previous two, expect for the couple of parts that were added, which for me don’t add enough for me to pickup the game again after several months. The thing I’m most worried about is I don’t see the Science update coming next, it most likely is at least two patches away. Which seems Science would come towards the end of the year… not ideal at all. I wish they were clear that the first roadmap item is going to be released towards the end of the year. This is not what I expected when I bought day one (with the game being in “the final stretch” and all), and I would definitely would have waited if this intention was clearly communicated at launch. -
This is not the update you are looking for.
-
You are taking this too seriously, and too personally. This is the KSP forum, of course you’re going to find people who are unconditionally hopeful.
-
hi, can we all cool down just a little? genuinely?
GGG-GoodGuyGreg replied to LittleBitMore's topic in KSP2 Discussion
Whether we are Doom Posters, Overly Optimistic or in-between, let's not forget that we all want this game to live up to the initial promises and current roadmap. I'm sorry to say, but the reality is that no single feature was added in several months, there is lot of performance optimization and fixes that are still left on the table (even for an EA, let alone a 50$ EA), their style of communication hasn't been doing the KSP2 team any favors either, so of course the Doom Posters were given much more "material" than the Overly Optimistic. I do hope one day it's easier to be a KSP2 fan, but objectively we ain't there (yet). -
If the previous cadence (which was extended by 2 weeks) were to be followed, the next release would be somewhere next week. So my guess is that we are 2-3 weeks away from the next update.

This update is more like it. Love the way the bug tracker is integrated with the forum and has a voting system and it’s more clear what’s being worked on. I like this new approach much more and it keeps us better in the loop, please keep up this up.
