Team Yankee is in 1985, it’s based off of a book of the same name. I’m painting my army in a modern US Army scheme with my friend, who is going to paint a modern Russian army. Our campaign is set in the near future, so I’m going to likely use the M106. But I could just say that the Army was forced to pull some M113s out of storage due to combat losses of Bradley Fighting Vehicles. The M113s are pretty decent in the game, as they are a points cheap unit that can carry troops but they aren’t that good at the same time due to their weak armor.

Slight problem: the box came with metal miniatures for it, so I’m forced to use the M113 instead of the M106 Mortar Carrier. The good news is I have LOTS of spare resin figures from the American Starter Force Box. Metal is annoying to prime…

I finally got a box of M113s.

The USA seriously needs to de-escalate its culture wars and politics. As old Abe said: “A house divided against itself cannot stand.” This was important when he was president and it’s even more important now. Any two extremes are bad. Extreme politics always lead to turmoil and conflict until one wins. At that point, it’s no longer the old system, but totalitarianism. I’m sick of all this fighting in my country and I feel like a second civil war is going to start. I remember @AlamoVampire said in an earlier post on this thread: “2024 sucks.” I can never disagree with this statement now.

Yes. The ANSAT system (Ansible Satellite) is a large communications satellite system that has three satellites located in a geosynchronous orbit over earth, and three over Mars. ANSAT works by sending a signal from a source (ie, a webcam and microphone attached to a TV) to the nearest DSN station. This signal will be then amplified with the ANSAT-Ground antenna, which is strong enough to melt pigeons in a direct transmission. Direct transmissions will suffer from time lag, so live video chats use the ANSAT satellite in geosynchronous to fire the signal like a fighter jet launching from an aircraft carrier. this is done in ways that I need to come up with. The signal goes FTL, and it gets caught by the ANSAT, like that same fighter jet catching the arresting cable on the carrier, in Martian orbit and transmitted down to the Hab. internet can also be used on the Martian surface, using ANSAT as a earth transmitter for instantaneous communication, with Starlink and a prototype system created by Lockheed Martin used as the routers. I just came up with that lol
