Excellent! So I take it you were conservative in the aerobrake altitude and therefore had to spend a lot of fuel to capture; can you give some details?

[1.1.2][1-1-2] May 13-2016 EnvironmentalVisualEnhancements
Mister Dilsby replied to rbray89's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
I reloaded and it was fine. Still dunno what caused it. -
Blue, I don't normally publish such, but because this idea of yours is so cool if you see a Kerbfleet craft you want to try out just let me know and I'll make it available. Besides the famous Hummlebee we have several crew transport and utility SSTOs, mining vehicles such as the Ore Piggie, and the Minmus Outbound orbital refinery.

Arrgh, I really wish I could see these pictures right now... the network @work blocks the hosting site you use (but lets in Imgur)

"Duna, Ore Bust!" -- a KSP Graphic Novel (COMPLETE)
Mister Dilsby replied to Mister Dilsby's topic in KSP1 Mission Reports
Oh, I've rolled ships down those slopes, but never gently... this was my entry in the 'Dukes of Duna' challenge. Yes, it's the Kerbal Lee... - - - Updated - - - Well I certainly haven't thought it all the way through, but I suppose you'd have to make a ship capable of orbiting Kerbin and returning without losing any parts...and then lose all of those parts, preferably while bringing down at least one KSC building. I dare someone to run that challenge - - - Updated - - - Thanks! Score one for Team Mostly Stock - - - Updated - - - I did throw heat shields on two of the crewed vessels going to Eve just in case (the third is a plane so it will hopefully be fine) There was probably a smarter way to do this, but I put the shields inside fairings to preserve them going to orbit and avoid drag.- 598 replies

"Duna, Ore Bust!" -- a KSP Graphic Novel (COMPLETE)
Mister Dilsby replied to Mister Dilsby's topic in KSP1 Mission Reports
OK, 1.0.4 is installed, I've launched a whole flotilla of Eve ships to LKO, and we are ready to continue the adventure! I really did consider trying to taxi around Duna--after all I can refuel at will, and it hasn't crashed yet rolling over terrain. Why not? Because even I can't come up with enough pop culture references and forum jokes to keep you entertained through 27 panels of rolling and mining!- 598 replies

Very sorry, sure this has been asked before but I can't find it. How do I fix the dark side cloud texture shown here: -
"Duna, Ore Bust!" -- a KSP Graphic Novel (COMPLETE)
Mister Dilsby replied to Mister Dilsby's topic in KSP1 Mission Reports
Yes! A much more Kerbal word for it. - - - Updated - - - Or randomly falling down... trying to pick their noses but being blocked by (1) the helmet (2) not having noses... you know, I don't know of any kerbal "random background behavior" mods but that would really be something special if it were even possible. - - - Updated - - - Yes--something on the order of what the guys running around the VAB do. I could watch them bang on the floor with hammers for...well... minutes. So, no update today as 1.0.3 broke the Kerbfleet save file last night! I did get things sorted out thanks to a fix by sal_vager I found buried on page 3 of the support request forum. Basically, when one copies an old save file to a new game folder the pointer to the tech tree config file in your persistent.sfs does not update--and if you don't point it in the right way, whenever you go to the VAB or SPH it's all [edit--I tried to write the acronym that begins 'whiskey tango' but oops filter] Anyway it can't figure out what parts you have access to so nothing loads. One quick edit fixed it, but I did lose the day. Next order of business is to get ships in the air for Eve before the transfer window, then Hummlebee can finish up on Duna.- 598 replies

Excellent update! That reminds me, I should really turn on surface scatter one of these days--those rocks really add a lot to the pictures. Too bad about the forgotten antennae, I hope the surface scanners will work without your orbital scanners being able to transmit... be prepared for them not to :/

1.02 save breaks 1.03 VAB
Mister Dilsby replied to g00bd0g's topic in KSP1 Technical Support (PC, unmodded installs)
OK here we go... I looked in persistent.sfs and found this: Per sal_vager's recommendation here am changing to "TechTreeUrl = GameData/Squad/Resources/TechTree.cfg" and starting up... YES! VAB works... or should I say' date=' my save has been sal_vaged![/color'] -
1.02 save breaks 1.03 VAB
Mister Dilsby replied to g00bd0g's topic in KSP1 Technical Support (PC, unmodded installs)
Thanks--cannot get those files fro where I am but did find another thread where sal_vager said that the IRL pointing to the tech tree could get corrupted by module manager. This makes sense, as I did move mod folders in and out of the new install when I moved the save. Will try editing .sfs to point to the correct tech tree, and will report back a bit later. -
1.02 save breaks 1.03 VAB
Mister Dilsby replied to g00bd0g's topic in KSP1 Technical Support (PC, unmodded installs)
Ok, I moved some ships in and it was fine. Edited a ship but did not launch. Turned off the game--loaded this morning and VAB is broken again. Not sure what to do here. -
1.02 save breaks 1.03 VAB
Mister Dilsby replied to g00bd0g's topic in KSP1 Technical Support (PC, unmodded installs)
Am working this now. Moved the Kerbfleet save into 1.0.3... VAB broken, picture just like Jon144's. Then removed all mods except KER (I have ships with the Engineer Chip part, so this is a must-load on that save), reloaded, and it's fine. Will start adding mods back now and see what happens... ETA: All mods loaded (KER, Alarm Clock, Boulder/EVE) and it's fine. Now will start moving some ships into the VAB and see what happens. -

Ram vs. shock cone intake?
Mister Dilsby replied to VBlackshadow's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
Indeed, but turboramjet SSTOs will top out around 1200 m/s, slower than a ship with RAPIERS--is that fast enough for the extra mass of the shock cone to be worth it? I wonder at what top speed the shock cone breaks even/surpasses the ram intake. -
8/10, I snort a bit every time I see the quotes in your .sig

"Duna, Ore Bust!" -- a KSP Graphic Novel (COMPLETE)
Mister Dilsby replied to Mister Dilsby's topic in KSP1 Mission Reports
Just one page for today. I spent some time last night checking out 1.0.3... I think it will work for this save but I have had some bug issues and am re-loading my mods one by one to make sure everything works. Can't really progress with the story without pictures, and can't take pictures until EVE is installed or else they won't look the same as previous panels. Anyway things are looking good so far and we should be back to 'normal' soon. Yes, especially given all the incidents involving the Mk1 bags!- 598 replies

Nessa: an alternate history for NASA
Mister Dilsby replied to loch.ness's topic in KSP1 Mission Reports
I'm in the same boat (capsule?) -- first attempt at loading the Kerbfleet save in 1.0.3 resulted in the VAB/SPH corrupted craft bug; will try again cleaned of mods and craft. Hoping something works out for you! -

"Duna, Ore Bust!" -- a KSP Graphic Novel (COMPLETE)
Mister Dilsby replied to Mister Dilsby's topic in KSP1 Mission Reports
Thanks! Welcome to the Forum, glad to have you reading. - - - Updated - - - Well that sounds pretty darn hard-mode. Impressed you are doing EVA rescues IRL, in a pretty challenging biome Really, Adirondack camping is not that challenging when in-season and one takes reasonable precautions. It's especially easy when all you're really doing is pitching a tent behind your friend's year-round cabin I tried but I COULD NOT FIND IT (404) Thank you, and thanks DMSP and others who repped--really very much appreciated. I have some images for the next couple pages and thinks look good for wrapping up the Duna mission--however I am going to spend some time testing the Kerbfleet save file in 1.0.3. Stay tuned, things could get interesting when the Hummlebee hits Kerbin atmosphere... am really glad we are not carrying any parts that got seriously changed, but you never know.- 598 replies

I think you're exactly right re: avoiding the "wall of text". Time is short and there is a lot of forum, so everything you do to make it easy for a reader to 'consume' your work is a good thing. This is a big advantage of the graphic format--you can tell the story visually with a few pictures, and use short bits of text to make your presentation unique. Like Miles Davis said, "it's the notes you don't play" that matter. I especially how you use your panel layouts to guide the eye. Meanwhile the text quotes efficiently tell us what's going on, while at the same time revealing something interesting and creative about the personalities involved.
