Canonically (see the Zweischenspiel), Wernher had a full beard until all but his mustache was blown off in a freak strudel- making accident. @0111narwhalz is correct, there are nice kerbs on Kerbulus but they're typically not the sort that survive long under Imperial rule.

Correct, of course. I've seen CV-11 Intrepid's ball at the museum in New York, it's a light that shines into a concave mirror such that if the approaching plane isn't aligned properly the light i.e. the ball won't be visible. Next time you land on CV-6, look for it to the left of the flight deck: and I must say I'm surprised you've survived flying Wildcats so long without knowing all about "the ball" For Kerbfleet space carrier ops, calling the ball means that the approaching ship can see and has targeted the correct docking port. Per naval tradition the pilot also gives his ship's incoming mass, though I think the magnetic docking clamps are less sensitive to that than are a naval carrier's arresting wires. ETA: Whoops! Optical landing systems are post-WWII so of course a Wildcat pilot wouldn't necessarily have used one. My bad!

Euq oerc... excuse me, I think that what might be happening is your local internet is blocking Imgur. That's the filename of the embedded picture. It happens to me sometimes with some other image hosting sites when I look at the forum on my work internet.

Doesn't seem right to leave a cliffhanger for too long, especially since I already posted a picture of them getting back. So... Looks like two thousand dV to eject from Tylo, intercept Vall, and get an orbit. The ship (allegedly) has about 4000 in the tanks, and there's also 30 tons of ore still aboard as a reserve. So, feeling pretty good about this though I might try to top off the ship's tanks using Qwammer if it's not too grindy. Not sure at this point whether to have an Interlude next or go straight into chapter 14.

Hmm...you'll forgive me Jim if I'm a bit reluctant to add parts from a ship that spontaneously exploded Well, not on Tylo, with the equipment he has...once they get back to Intrepid, however...I might just be able to come up with something

Hey, I already gave you a wink. What more do you want from a dead guy? When it happened it was more like, "AAAHH! AAAHH! LFO is decreasing?! Cancel time warp! Shut down the fuel cells! AAAAHHH!!!!" -- but that's me screaming, not Jeb Kerman Though it's worth noting that the Qwammer would not be truly stranded even under those conditions, as long as there's a smidgen of ore in the ground. There's an RTG and a decent-sized battery bank, so it could mine and refine with that as the sole power source. Though it would definitely take a long time, and life support would run out forcing the crew into "hibernation". Oh, that's tempting, and I really appreciate it, but I think it would be shenanigans at this point for Bill to suddenly provide those small gear bay wheels with electric motors. Thanks anyway! Though had I thought of it before Qwammer launched, I might well have taken you up on it (or used the PBS wheels @Just Jim suggested, since I've used a lot of PBS parts on Intrepid already. And in reply to @max_creative, I've been looking at bad machine translations of Japanese and Korean patents all morning, so the last thing I'm going to do right now is unpack your Google Spanish, especially since I can already see the word "serD" in there. Ay, mi cabeza!

Not exactly--though I did consider it (along with various plays on the backwards Spanish featured in SQUAD videos... would a Kerbulan video be in forward Spanish? Hmm...) As was mentioned, and is canon due to the initial conversation between Gene Kerman and Wernher, they all speak the same language(s) on the two planets. What Evil Bob is hearing is a scrambled version of the conversation between Jeb and Clauselle.

The Saga of Emiko Station - Complete
Mister Dilsby replied to Just Jim's topic in KSP1 Mission Reports
Love the narrative style in this update! It's light, and fun, and signals the switch to a different world well -
What an incredibly tasteless comment. This is not something I would ever, ever joke about. Let's keep the villains melodramatic, the violence cartoonish, and please leave real-world atrocities--sadly--in the real world.

Wellllll.... maybe they do and maybe they don't. We'll find out exactly what Evil Bob learned from the Commsat high (over Jool) jacking (into) in some future episode

Well, Kerbals being Kerbals, it's possible that their encryption key is like something an idiot would have on his luggage. But then again, the Kerbulans were completely befuddled by Wernher's "E=mc3" ruse. I suppose this could go either way. Yes, they do; Gene Kerman and Wernher had no trouble understanding each other in Kerblish. What's more everyone who hears Wernher's native dialect understand it to be Deutschekerb as spoken on Kerbin. So yeah, no "universal translator" needed in this particular Trek homage I'm not saying this is canon, but Risotto is funny enough that if I ever do need a language-decoding rock that just might be what I call it.

So much water! Skipping around Laythe

The Saga of Emiko Station - Complete
Mister Dilsby replied to Just Jim's topic in KSP1 Mission Reports
That was AWESOME! Love the video of Emiko's arrival. Also the super-dramatic LIVE DAMMIT LIVE! resuscitation scene--"You haven't poofed!" -
Ah, but you can (hopefully) see from the blue stripes that this is an Intelligence officer jacked into the commsat...and assuming that he's actually the intelligent kind of intelligence officer (e.g., Evil Bob)... well, we'll see. Indeed. If only the commsat had launched a bit later, it could have been an iSat 7 and then there wouldn't be any jack at all! Dun dunnnn! If I recall correctly, the Kerbulans could intercept radio signals such as the transponder and use them to locate Intrepid, at least until Kenlie wrecked same. But they couldn't decode the transmission protocol the Kerbals are using, and so they couldn't understand what anyone was saying. (Which is a good thing, otherwise they might have heard them calling each other "Val" and "Bob" and "Jeb", which is a critical piece of information if you think about it...) Of course, until we hear Evil Bob's intelligence report to the Commander we don't know what if anything new he learned by plugging into the satellite...or whether he intends to do anything besides listen in.

Comic is lagging gameplay by quite a bit now but I wanted to get something out today. Will do my best to compress the rest of the Tylo biome-hopping into an entertaining few pages to close out the chapter

Fortunately Bill is the engineer on this particular mission, and since he's Chief Engineer I believe he's exempt from that curse Oh, that would have been lovely! But... well... I didn't even think of it. Sorry! I'll try to remember the next anniversary of the comic at least. Awesome work as always! This will make things a bit easier for me, especially in future stories when [REDACTED] and [REDACTED] go to [REDACTED] on a hopeless [REDACTED] [REDACTED] to save [REDACTED]. And with that--lots of good gameplay for the last couple of days. At the risk of ruining dramatic tension just a bit, here's a recent screenshot. Comic pages, as always, will come the very instant they come ...have I ever mentioned how much I love flying carrier ops? Because I LOVE flying carrier ops!

No update today folks, except to say that I've landed the Qwammer several times now and I think I am getting pretty good at it. Despite this, visits to the various biomes have been anything but routine... I don't think I'm going to get to all of them, and I definitely will not get to all of them before the 14 day clock runs out and the away team must return to Intrepid. For now, here's a shot as the sun just emerges from eclipse, with Moho transiting.

I haven't seen that, but then again I might not have been out of physics range of Qwammer for more than a few minutes while it was operating, at least before we installed Bill's "heat pipes". Yeah, not anticipating a lot of problems with Vall, and am hoping the flats are flat enough to do a little rolling between biomes. I kind of wish I'd put on one tiny rearward-facing engine, but I was so focused on saving weight for the Tylo descent/ascent I did not. Oh well. I do anticipate Laythe to be... exciting. One thing we never did simulate in Bill Space Program was an actual water landing/takeoff there, we've only done it on Kerbin. Indeed! And don't forget, a Kerbal squeezer/unsqueezer so they can transfer between cockpits And there's one more thing I forgot to mention that the girder can't transfer--science data! Remember this scene?

This... is an excellent point! And it leads me to a thought experiment. If one were to build an oddball structure such as this... ...which of the following can travel freely and instantaneously from one end to the other through the girder, and which cannot? a) fuel b) electric power c) ore d) a Kerbal e) heat Hm. Hmmm. HMMMMM!!!!
