Oh. I wasn't aware there was any doubt about what happened to Wehrford. I even called it by name, on the page--just look at the sound effect when it ripped his ship apart

The Saga of Emiko Station - Complete
Mister Dilsby replied to Just Jim's topic in KSP1 Mission Reports
Specifically, Squad owns the "Game Content" and asserts that copyright here. The agreement does grant license for non-commercial "derivative" works based on the Game Content (such as this story, and pretty much 90% of everything else in Fan Works) provided appropriate notices are included AND it's not published for "commercial purposes". I think it's not on topic for this Mission Report thread to discuss exactly where that "Commercial Purposes" line is... e.g. is a Youtube series that gets revenue due to ad linkage OK? How about a "Donate" button? But anyway there's the link to the actual agreement in an attempt to head off wild and uninformed speculation on exactly what one can and cannot do...realizing that there will inevitably be several posts doing exactly that... And now, back to my day job as my company's intellectual property manager (yes, really)... -

A Thread for Writers to talk about Writing
Mister Dilsby replied to Mister Dilsby's topic in KSP Fan Works
Sorry! I'm a terrible person, I know, I know. But I will say that this line in the beginning of Warped Stars really grabbed me, way back when (emphasis mine): ...excellent subversion, with faithfulness to shared canon, of Our Hero Jeb! Told in a truly efficient and visual style. I just haven't kept up with it, but now that I read this again and see how good it is, I should give it another go -
This is not a bad theory--it's consistent with observation, at least. And another thing, I bet if Klingons ever met Kerbals, they'd have the same reaction they do to tribbles. (terror!) Fun fact, whenever anyone exits a cockpit in my save they are not wearing an EVA suit or helmet. I have to click on them and toggle the EVA suit, which I always do before taking pictures (except this time ) This is because I've tweaked Texture Replacer to consider every body in the system as having a breathable atmosphere, including the sun. Otherwise I wouldn't be able to get those shots of the crew in "pressurized" areas of the ship such as the bridge. But in-comic, yeah they do need suits to survive in vacuum and Wehrford Kermulan would likely not have jumped out without at least reaching for his helmet. It's not clear whether he was pulled out the hatch or simply passed/clipped through the bulkhead walls...I suppose with the Kraken, either is possible ETA: Wouldn't it be a cool mod to TR if you could always exit the ship in an IVA suit--but if you did so in non-breathable atmosphere it would, (1) ragdoll the Kerbal, and (2) change the head texture to put Xs in the eyeballs

A Thread for Writers to talk about Writing
Mister Dilsby replied to Mister Dilsby's topic in KSP Fan Works
Welcome to the thread folks! The Grand Council of Elder Arbiters Of All Forum Storydom (GCEAOAFS) will read your tales and provide detailed critique and a clear roadmap for how to become the new most popular, most liked story on the Forum! --So OK of course there is no such thing All we really have is each other--so while you're waiting for someone to give your work a critique, maybe take the time to read someone else's and offer some helpful hints Yeah, I agree with @KSK--we are all playing the same game. It's hard to get people interested in Yet Another Mission Log (YAML), especially in a text-only story. Or maybe this is just my personal preference--I admit I don't really read a lot of the text-only stories on here, even the good ones The ones that are straight-up mission reports don't interest me. Why should I spend time reading about something I've done myself? The few exceptions are the ones that give a really novel (yet faithful to shared canon!) take on the classic characters and situations we all face in the game. The ones that are NOT a straight-up mission report, e.g. stories putting Kerbals in interstellar ships for some kind of Ender's Game shoot-em-up--well, those don't interest me too much either. I come here to deepen and broaden my KSP playing experience, and stuff that will never happen in my game just doesn't do that for me. But hey, I've said it before, I have a short attention span--that's why I do comics And maybe a lot of other people have short attention spans as well. I think that in general a thread with pictures will get more attention than a thread with just text...if you don't believe me, just look at the ridiculously large number under my avatar (or @Just Jim's, or @Parkaboy's, @Geschosskopf's etc. ) -
So have you built any of the ships or simulated/flown the combat missions in the story @DarkOwl57? If so, cool pictures please! If not, Fan Works may be a better spot for it, and don't forget to join the thread for writers to talk about writing over there...which is called, amazingly, A Thread For Writers To Talk About Writing

Yes it is, and without expending any monopropellant Bop is actually quite a fun place to drive. Gravity is high enough that bumps don't send the car too far into space, but low enough that the rover can charge up a 25 degree slope without much trouble Yeah, he wasn't big enough yet to drive his own so he got in a two-seater with me. Best part was when his hat flew off as I swerved to avoid a collision on one lap, then scooped it up off the track on the next without slowing down...though the screaming and crying was a bit distracting. OMG you're right...I'm doomed...expect this old man to do some screaming and crying in a few years!

Getting there... Yeah, so originally Sarge was going to do all the rover driving...but then I remembered how much Jeb wanted to try it out on Pol, and never got to. Seeing as he's the ranking officer on the ground, and seeing as, well, he's Jeb, looks like Sarge gets to have a KBR or two in the Qwammer cockpit while Jeb and Nizmo explore the landscape. Hm, I wonder if this reminds @Nimzo Kerman of that one time he rode in a go-kart with me?

Ah, you must have seen this Dilsby doesn't have to process screenshots and make fancy images like I do, so his Twitter tends to be a little bit ahead of the comic

You know, I hadn't realized how often I do this...starting with the launch of Hummlebee on Orange Knight...continuing through several unbalanced (literally and figuratively) attempts at various landers up to the launch of Intrepid herself, the landings on Minmus and on Pol... so yeah, guilty as charged Yeah, he did find the new Creator, and of course he's using Texture Replacer just like me. @Nimzo Kerman routinely copies stuff out of my folders and uses them in his own games. Even before 1.2 Kerbal Creator, he would ask me to copy his favorite Kerbfleet personnel into his .sfs Well of course, where do you think 'kraken drive' comes from? And that's the speed at which everything moves in the Kuzzterverse, as you well know The Kerbulan vessel ISS Despair (which is not actually a carrier--no way I was going through all of that a second time!) is in Jool orbit, a bit beyond Pol. It, and the surviving ships of the fighter squadron, have exactly enough fuel to get exactly where I want them at exactly the right point in the story for them to get there.

We have a winner! But maybe not in the way you imagined... As I post this, @Nimzo Kerman is next to me flying planes with too many engines at very low altitudes. There's a Kuzzter Kerman in his 1.2 save (dressed as a fleet Admiral, of course!), who I am informed will meet a horrible fate if anything happens to Enzin Nimzo on Bop. Well, we'll just have to see about that

Quite so--however, while the rover does have thrusters, it only carries 80 units of monopropellant. I haven't calculated whether that's enough to get its mass down to the surface and back to orbit again, but I will say that that's not how it got down

From a Kraken? I doubt! However...well, to 'film' that scene I needed Newdun to lose two missiles, and for Wehrford's ship to end up in pieces. I'll let you out two and two together. I thought the ship held up pretty well, considering... And that's why Val Kermulan only sent two fighters out of the four we've seen. Despair is also still fullly loaded. And if you think a Kerbulan fighter with no missiles isn't dangerous... Yeah, I was a little worried about 2.2c (gore) when I did that one. But if you look closely at the next scene, you can see there's still a bit of a stain on the bottom

Ah! There are of course Kurt, and Not-Kurt who is also Melgee, who lived in a large piece of cheese on Mimnus. But you forget pilot Dongun, who is bread, so you should butter his arm and not put salsa on it, and his engineer Billy-Bobby who made to home-go ALL the cheese with a spectacular claw grab! /madness

Well, generally when we see a death poof it's the result of a high-speed impact or other extreme trauma. Asphyxiation due to being yanked out of your cockpit without a helmet, that's different

Yes... YES! *waves hands* Poor little evil dude, I actually feel sorry for him now And yeah, I really am pretty low on oxidant--Qwammer reached Intrepid with only a few drops left. There's only enough left in the ship's tanks for one full refuel of Qwammer, meaning that if anything went wrong there would be nothing left for Skimeroo. So, it's legit! (what? Pay no attention to that 1500 units of unconverted ore!) Off we go to Bop, to refuel! Let's see if Sub-Legate Newdun gets away before Sarge's scansat arrives, and if Bill really can "take care of" the rest of the evidence.

Perhaps you are! And yes, I was indeed thinking of Temporary 3rd Lieutenant Byrd's "discolored pip" when I wrote that-- "and don't try to buff it off!" Glad you liked the story, Daemon! Hopefully we'll see you over in the Jool Odyssey thread
