adding multiplayer

The tech tree progression is ridiculous
Wjolcz replied to Wjolcz's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
Tell me more about this. It's not like I had an already working SSTO in my career game and then the parts it used were moved in a way I couldn't launch it anymore. And it wasn't like 0.24, or something. It was a very recent change. "Tweaking", amirite? -

Miniature Probes, Rovers
Wjolcz replied to b0ss's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
The probe cores are already pretty small. Keep in mind Kerbals are only 1m high. -
Hi, do you by chance know that both rockets are not meant to reach orbit no matter their dV?

Ooooh... I could get very nitpicky about this sentence. But I won't. I will resist.

As I said in the SpaceX vs NASA thread: they shouldn't be compared. The R&D approach and the target of both companies seem to bee rather different (at least right now). I would consider myself a SpaceX fanboy, simply because of the scale and what Elon is trying to accomplish. I'm looking forward to the BO's orbit-capable rocket though. The more reusability in the space industry the better. As for the promotional vid: It's just how PR works. Got to show yourself in a bright light if you want to have any customers.

Because it's either money or the "people wanted it" argument. Or the mix of both. IMO KSP is not a console game material. I just can't imagine how one is able to build a complicated structure that is supposed to fly with using nothing but a console pad. Maybe with the WiiU pad, where you can drag-and-drop parts using the pen thing. Anyway, the console release looks like an action performed mainly for that last cash injection for SQUAD. It's either that and we are getting close to KSP being "feature complete" (AKA abandoned) or getting a much needed overhaul. I really do want to believe it's the second one, but the first option seems more probable, because of what's been going on with the dev team recently (asking the community to clean the bug tracker, not enough members of the team, etc.)

Make rovers useful
Wjolcz replied to Loren Pechtel's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
I agree. The science system is ridiculous. Who the hell decided that forcing the players to go somewhere should unlock you more parts? That's just limiting and nothing else. It doesn't even encourage exploration since you can finish the tree by biome-hopping one planetary body/a moon. It could've been done so much better. -
We need Terraforming!
Wjolcz replied to electricpants's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
IMO adjustable landing legs could be great for this. You would put a landing platform on a planet and level it by adjusting the landing legs separately! Though I'm pretty sure it's possible already, but we need an in-flight spring tweakable first. -

Mission Control support

Seems like a cool idea for a multiplayer mod. Something like Telemachus, but with a mission planning tool.- 23 replies

Stock (scientific) Camera
Wjolcz replied to AlextheBodacious's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
Yes, please. Not only for Kerbol system objects but also for exoplanet hunting, observation of pulsars, supernovae, nebulae, clusters and galaxies. Think about how many easter eggs they could hide in the skybox with a discovery mechanic like this. Could also be a great tool for teaching people what's also out there. -
Make rovers useful
Wjolcz replied to Loren Pechtel's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
It's not the problem of surface being dull. It's also dull in real life and yet people get excited when something new is discovered by Curiosity (or some other rover that's still active). It's because the real life rovers perform science and dig into rocks. The problem is with how the contracts and mission objectives are handled. You get about 5 surface points to visit if you accept the contract and once they are all visited the rover becomes useless. No point in driving the thing if a new contract asks you to visit a place on the far side of the planet you are on. The problem is contracts. There should be a tool that would allow mission planning (pick a landing site and once the landing there is achieved decide wether to go north, south, east or west from there). So IMO it should work like this: The player picks a rover program ("Duna Robotic Surface Exploration" or something like that). The program offers a bunch of landing sites based on biomes (decide if you want to land in biome X, Y or Z yourself). Then, once the game recognizes there's a rover landed (with wheels) it gives a few points of interest ("Visit point ABC-123 near your landing site"). You go there, visit the place and *CHING!* A new one pops out nearby (500m away, or so, just to not make the journey tedious)! The points of interest keep generating around the rover as long as the player is interested in roving. If he isn't, he/she simply marks the program as finished and gets the reward for it (and abandons the poor bugger on the surface of another world). Nice surface features are finite and creating them is time-consuming. I'm not saying they shouldn't be in the game, but a real surface of a planet is not that interesting either. Unless we have bigger planets, that is. Points of interest are already in the game (the little pin-like icons that appear when a contract is chosen) and just need to be properly used in order to make the gameplay more fun (and to whoever is about to start a talk about what is fun and what isn't for them - don't even try). Let's be honest, Curiosity and Opportunity are slowly driving around and performing what a geologist would do. Brushing dust off is not that exciting. -
Haven't seen anything like that. How about the mod that exchanges science for funds? Maybe it could be remade to also convert funds to science? I'll ask the creator about it. EDIT: oh, whooops I had a derp moment there. Nevermind! I will redownload all the mods from this thread to test it some more. Although I really have to force myself since I don't have a motivation to play this game anymore... Also there's a nice tech tree mod I have recently found (just in case it's of any use):

adding multiplayer
Wjolcz replied to wolf creates16's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
That's still warping and syncing all the time. I tried to play DMP with a friend a few times. We either spent a lot of time building or flying separately. And then there was time for a few minutes of space encounters and docking (maybe). Multiplayer in a space game that allows time warping is not fun. Doesn't matter how many people play it.- 367 replies

Make rovers useful
Wjolcz replied to Loren Pechtel's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
How about this: 1. Get rid of science points entirely and make the experiments grant reputation instead (more about this here and here). 2. Generate points of interest based on the rover landing site (if a mission asks you to land in a crater then the next points of interest/sites should appear in that crater and its vicinity). Another "tweak" to the science system will do nothing. The system is flawed and trying to balance it will not work. SImply giving more or less points to a biome's full reward is just another "tweak". We've been delivered many of them and guess what? Career, the tech tree and science system are still broken. A proper mission generation overhaul could fix so many problems and yet the developers don't care. Because "tweaking", right? -
That's amazing. When is the relaunch scheduled for? EDIT: by the end of the year apparently.

10km/s is a slight overkill. You can go to Jool and back having about 4km/s. Anyway, here's how I did it a long time ago: http://imgur.com/a/romH6#0 http://imgur.com/a/utisk#0 http://imgur.com/a/0POu5#0 http://imgur.com/a/XpWjG#0 Keep'em modular and easy to rearrange. I can't seem to include imgur albums into the post for some reason. Why is that?
