Very import hotfix: 1.9.1 out now! As some of you might have already noted from the recent discussions, but in 1.9 we removed an obsolete feature (FlightGlobalIndexes) that, unbeknownst to me, turned out to lead to savegame incompatibilities. While the main function of these FGI values was deprecated by Kopernicus, it still had a use in the savegames started before OPM 1.9. As a result spacecraft would move from one planet to another upon loading the pre 1.9 savegame in 1.8. This update returns these FGIs to the OPM bodies, so that at least untouched save games would not be impacted by this bug. I can't return save games that broke with 1.9 and were saved. I'm very, very sorry for letting this happen, but stopping future incompatiblities is better than nothing. If you have 1.9.0, replace that with this version. If you haven't gotten 1.9.0 yet, just download this version and you'll be fine. Downloads 1. Choose one of the two available mirrors for Outer Planets Mod (the CKAN version should get the update within the day, probably within a few hours) 2. Download Kopernicus, which is a third-party mode required for OPM to work This version of OPM was designed with Kopernicus 0.6.2 in mind. 3. (Optional) Download Sigma Binary to make Plock-Karen a true binary system like Pluto-Charon (a really cool effect) Download Sigma Binary 1.3.2 Here's the full changelog: -Re-added the FlightGlobalIndex variables to the various bodies to maintain save game compatibility and prevent save game breaking from occurring in the future The future With Plock redone and Karen added, the main vision for this mod is pretty much accomplished. The mod is far from dead or complete however. Here's how I imagine the roadmap for the near future: 1.9.2: Some things were not tested enough to make the cut for 1.9.0. These things will be added in short order in another intermediate release. Nothing major, just a little bit of extra shine like CustomAsteroids support that's cool to have while we work larger tasks like Plock/Karen biomes to be included in 2.0 and beyond. 2.0 and beyond: Improving the existing OPM bodies. Many more things have been added to the toolkit of the planet pack maker. It's time for to dive into all these new techniques and get everything in OPM working and looking as well as the best examples from stock KSP. Think procedural craters like on the Mun, custom land textures to make the terrain more varied, etc. We also have plans for the biome maps, as Eudae and me have decided that they can be made much more interesting (less lowlands, midlands and more uniquely named features). Plock and Karen biomes will be designed from the ground up with this approach and other bodies will be changed as we move along. More on all of this at a later date!

Update 1.9 is out now! Merry Christmas everyone: you finally get a Plock system that looks like the amazing stuff we saw as New Horizons passed Pluto in July! Features Redid Plock, changing it from a Vall look-a-like into a unique body based on New Horizon's look at Pluto in July Added a moon to Plock called Karen based on Charon These two moons by default are in a relationship similar to Duna-Ike (tidally locked to each other, etc.). If you install Sigma Binary, this changes the system in a true binary system like the real Pluto-Charon system. Seeing them dance around each other is very special, so I consider it a very, very recommended mod. Screenshots Downloads 1. Keep this in mind. 3. (Optional) Download Sigma Binary to make Plock-Karen a true binary system like Pluto-Charon (a really cool effect) Download Sigma Binary 1.3.2 Here's the full changelog: -Redid Plock, changing it from a Vall look-a-like into a unique body -Added a moon to Plock called Karen -Redid the gas giant's rings to adjust for changes made to the ways rings are rendered now -Flipped the biome maps of Thatmo and Karen, so that they correctly follow the terrain -Changed Plock's orbital color, PlanetShine and DistantObject color to a light greenish brown -Removed the FlightGlobalIndex variables, due to obsolescence -Fixed an error in Plock's description -Updated ModuleManager to version 2.6.13 -Updated AVC version file Excuse the barebones announcement. I really wanted this out for the holidays and I gotta go to Christmas dinner in about about half an hour.

I prefer as little mod requirements as possible, so if one day I can do it just in Kopernicus I prefer that. ATM, CustomAsteroids is more feature packed, which I kind of need for the full shebang (ring aligned moons, irregular moons, etc.). If I'll probably do CustomAsteroids until Kopernicus can do all that I want it to do with asteroids. The goal is before Christmas. Put some time aside this weekend to work on it. No idea. Hopefully someone else who has experience with this can help you. HELP THIS PERSON PEOPLE!

No atmosphere. The existing moon of Neidon, Thatmo, has a very thin atmosphere (makes Duna look like Eve). Take a look at that if you want the thrill of an atmosphere on a somewhat cratered, dead-looking world. No other moons as you know, but I do plan on adding custom procedural asteroids to sort of have some small hunks of rocks going around Pluto. So you can see the two big binary bodies of Plock and Karen dance around each other from one of those procedural asteroidal 'moons'. No canyon specifically based on the one in the famous pic, but there will be canyons on Karen cutting through the terrain at a few points.

Plock and its moon Karen are set for the next update yes. The rings is a known problem. It has to do with the way they're drawn since Kopernicus 0.5.X. It needs a tweak in the next update. Not gamebreaking though, so I endorsed upgrading to this version of Kopernicus. Do you mean using OPM 1.8.1 with the update for Kopernicus 0.6?

ATM and TextureReplacer are generally the culprit, but if you want anything non visual I only know that older planet packs (ie. ones that haven't been updated to recent KSP/Kopernicus versions) have been known to cause issues. I haven't seen something like this myself. Since I have no experience with OSX and OPM, it could simply be a OSX thing or it could be a general bug that I've never encountered. I truly have no idea.

That's either a bad installation of the mod or a conflict with another mod. Check this: 1. Do you have KSP 1.05 installed? 2. Do you have Outer Planets Mod 1.8.1 installed? 3. Do you have Kopernicus 0.5.2 installed? If you have all these versions of the game and the main mods could you check if you have the TextureReplacer mod or Active Texture Management mod? If you have, first remove one of them, then test to see if OPM works correctly. If that's not the case, do the same for the second mod. Try removing the planet packs one by one. Could be that one's incompatible with the current Kopernicus. Yes to SigmaBinary, no to tester (only because I expect to have it done before the holidays and I haven't encountered anything bad). I calculated the barycenter of Duna-Ike and it's not outside of Duna. Only about 60% of the way, which is less than the Earth vs. the Moon. Duna and Ike have a weird orbital configuration, but it's not a binary one. Perhaps it's closer to a horseshoe orbit or something.

Question, is there support for writing the colors in regular RGBA, instead of the weird version of arithmetic RGBA 0.232132, 0.5234, etc. I want to add support for my mod, but if I have to go and convert dozens of colors (I have a lot of moons and planets in my mod and they all have biomes) to that weird system, I'm not looking forward to it.

I wish he hadn't spoiled these awesome new parts. I'm always checking/hoping he's released them already... Ah well, the wait will make it even sweeter.

Asteroidal moons are a dime a dozen. We've waited 80 years to get a good look at Pluto and I still can't get enough of it. Thus Plock and its moon will be tributes to those distant, but strangely active and intriguing worlds. Plus I'm using SigmaBinary to make it a true binary system, very different from Duna-Ike's interaction. It's quite a sight, I assure you.
Hi: At least for me the latest Kopernicus (0.5.1) results in a black screen in what should be main scene of KSP Center, with no clickables but "exit", and a kopernicus log now only being able to load only a few bodies, Kerbin and sun not included... Is it my fault? Cheers! :)
Experienced the same thing too. Perhaps I was too quick to cheer. Perhaps some more testing needs to be done by Thomas ;D

I did a test and can confirm that the buoyancy is indeed fixed. 0.5 offers a slew of improvements, which I will be able to take full advantage of in OPM 1.9. For example, a new OnDemand loading system cuts the RAM usage in half from 400-500 MB to 200-300 MB. So don't wait and get Kopernicus 0.5 now: http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/114649-0-90-Kopernicus-Pre-Alpha-%280-0-6%29
