I bought KSP 0.18(?) back in 2012 for €18,- Since then, I played every update. At least once a week. I have no way to know for sure how many hours I logged. But a conservative guess would be over 3000. So, that's 18/3000 = €0,006 per hour. If I where to add all the costs of KSP2 (€50,-) and a brand spanking new RX6800TX (€649,-) to it and I quit KSP2 after 1 hour, KSP has still only cost me €0,24 PER HOUR!!! That's still insane ... Download: 28% Complete Let's see my 1660Super struggle

Will intergalactic travel ever be possible
1of6Billion replied to awsumguy76801's topic in Prelaunch KSP2 Discussion
LOL KSP: "Why can't we go to other stars?" KSP2: "Why can't we go to other galaxies? KSP3: "Why can't we leave the local cluster?" etc. -
Schrödingers Kerbals
1of6Billion replied to 1of6Billion's topic in KSP1 Technical Support (PC, modded installs)
Did it again. Forgot to properly thank you the last time. Thanks a lot, (hopefully not so)DeadJohn! -
I've put this base on Duna with a 6 Kerbals, including Jeb, Bill and Bob. Now, when the base gets into physics range, going there from the tracking station or approaching it with another probe, the game freezes and gives a 'Unity crash' screen. So, for now, my Kerbals are dead and alive at the same time. They are alive, but the only way to get them back is to kill them (remove the base in tracking station). Schrödingers Kerbals. Is there a way to save these Kerbals by some kind of 'divine intervention' ie editing some game file?

Oh, wow. I am so happy I found this. The other day I was thinking how awesome it would be to have a mod that would let you produce 'blocks' in one way or the other in game. Basically go full Lego/Minecraft. With these blocks you would be able to build structures like radiation shielding or landing pads or hangars or.... To keep weight down and Kerbals able to handle the blocks, I would make them from 'polymer' (foam), which you can make from liquid fuel. I really lack the talent and knowledge to model and code everything to make such a feature. But with you doing all the hard work... I may give it a shot. Thanks @Angel-125

Granted, Sky cranes to Duna heve been done before. But it seems lowering the rover via cables is not done too many times. SO, here's mine. Blast off: In orbit attachment of winches to sockets: Burn for Duna: Aero braking: Deployment of heatshield and fairing: Final descent on Sky crane: Lowering Percy2020 (it landed on all 6 wheels):

Could we track approaching alien ships?
1of6Billion replied to s_gamer101's topic in Science & Spaceflight
If this alien ship would be so kind to conform to our understanding of the laws of physics, it would probably radiate an enormous amount of energy to brake from interstellar speeds to anything near orbital velocity near our sun. I think it should be easily detectable. Always wondered WHO would find them and how far out they would be. Can we, maybe for the sake of argument, assume something in size and energy output of Daedalus?- 15 replies

How would we colonize Mars if it was inhabited?
1of6Billion replied to fredinno's topic in Science & Spaceflight
Keeping politics out of this discussion will prove to be *very* hard... Before the last US-election, I would have replied that we (the UN) would be discussing colonisation until well in the 2200's. After that we would probably go for a small (but quite heavily armed) research outpost somewhere in a remote area. There will be contact with the inhabitants. We would never go "Avatar" on them. Now, I am not sure that would never happen. -
I'll take Astronomy, please. Give me a reason to, and means to do astronomy. Build telescopes on KSC, build orbital telescopes, build telescope on the far side of Eeloo, etc. Discover Asteroids (to intercept and divert), planets, moons to go to, nebulae (eye candy), imminent super novae (predict GRB's), comets! Yay for Astronomy! Oh, and a manipulation of the lithosphere. I would *love* to cover my bases with dirt

The other day I was wondering I should write to Lego to convince them to relaunch a Lego Space line. I would totally buy every set. This is an adequate start

Anyway, i'm aboard the Hypestein drive for season 2

What kind of forces are we talking about here? How does the "push" of a light sail compare to drag of solar wind, micrometeorites, last bits of atmosphere, etc?

O'Neill Space Stations on 99% Invisible podcast
1of6Billion replied to Nightside's topic in Science & Spaceflight
The Nay-sayers forget that it's a fundamental driver of human nature to explore. If it was not we would still be throwing rocks in Africa.- 54 replies
