Words...words cannot explain-but this may be the biggest development in building a larger world scince planet factory. However I will ask-is there lag? And can mechjeb handle transefering you to another solar system?

randomness5555 replied to MightyDarkStar's topic in KSP1 Mod Development
I want a messchespitfang for my birthday now Seriously, this is a cool idea. Good luck with making it! -
RPM=Raster Prop Monitor. If you dont know what that is, check it out-it does some really cool stuff As for this thread being pointless-well maybe, but isn't speculating on 0.24 in general probably pointless untill release?

Mars Constellation mission profile?
randomness5555 replied to Majorjim!'s topic in Science & Spaceflight
I think one of these wouldn't be to hard to do in ksp. Why do you want the details? Planning on making a mod? Or maybe a stock version? Edit-whoa, someones already done this in ksp? (that post didn't load before I put the earlier comment in it) -
Okay, so we all know that 0.24 is going to out pretty soon-and most likely, it will be awsome. BUT. It's going to break mods. So I figured we should make a list of the ones we think (or know) are likely to break, so people know which ones could be save killers after the update, and are going to need to be updated. My current thoughts are that the most complex plugins and such will be most likely to go. If one like module manager or RPM that several mods are dependant on go, that's going to cause an awfull lot to fail. But I'm not a modder-so I can't say beyond this. So, what do you think?

How can the boxes "Store" Science? I've never seen that done before... (as a BTW-I am getting this as soon as it comes out)

Sorry what? After reading the description, I havn't the foggiest what you're actually asking. Try typing it again. -
Sounds great to me. Maybe instead of pre built, you just have to have a certain probe core, antenna and maybe some scientific equipment

Woo, Homeworld! Anything from that is good in my book. Can't actually remember what that ship did though. Was it for repairs? -

Really Really Really Tall Building
randomness5555 replied to The Jedi Master's topic in Forum Games!
Floor 831-Due to some unique architecture you can see into floor 481 through one of the ouside windows-and it's upside down -
Well it's nice to see the forums being so optimistic By almost free, I mean this compared to the price of a rocket, and i'm not counting the cost of actually building the thing-just the price per launch. Besides, run some metal teeth along the length of the cable and you can just have one line with cogs on the elevator to go up/down. As for the cost, I hardly think the tubes (IF that is what is used-atm it seems to be the best candidate) are going to get more expensive to make. Carbon is not a rare element, and if they look like they are going to be as good as predicted, a lot of companies are going to want to make them. Also, 'No it won't' is not a counter argument. Skylon's recently recived extra funding after they proved that the engine design works, so it's still dead on track to meet predictions. As for the lack of demand argument, I say this-you build it and people will find ways to use it, and money is not the point anyway. Space travel has NEVER been profitable-apart from for the companies that build the rockets themselves. But give them an SSTO that could be used to build say, an orbital refinery that can make products you can only make or can make better in 0-G and you start to see a use for it. Also, think of the MILITARY use eh? Think about how much money they would pay to build orbital weapons-rods from the gods anyone? Starting to see my point?

Why is everone going on about the price? Carbon nano-tubes are pricey-atm. They might be cheaper than wool in 120 years-if they are as good as we think they will be, people will work out ways to make more for less. Besides, 80 or so miles is a long way-but we've layed fibre optic cables longer than that across the sea-floor. as for who would use that-space station construction anyone? Or even, moonbases? Building one is impractical now-but if you could get every module into space for almost free? These things are usefull. But honestly, Skylon's probably going to be the answer-cheaper than an elevator and you still get about 200 uses out of each one. And that's predicted to be ready by 2020 or so.

Simple answer-everyone is talking about building what is essentially a long cable attached to a small station type thingy at the other end. How about a sort of cone shaped tower-maybe 100 miles wide, 80-90 tall and a width of maybe 1 at the top. It would be large enough for the top floors to be outside the atmosphere, but would have such a large footprint it could happilly stand up without super-materials. Okay, so it would probably need some very special materials still, but it wouldn't require them to be as strong as a cable would have to be. My thought would be that it would also be a self contained city and research base. It would also probably need to be an international project due to the immense cost-but I think cheap space travel would be worth it. My other idea would be that at this scale you could run ordinary-ish train tracks up the tower to get cargo to space.

Well, here's my entry-the Orbital Station Tug 1A (catchy name right ;D ) One big o'l nerva for propulsion and 7K or so DeltaV. It's also unmanned-kerbals won't want to be hanging around in a tiny unmanned tug for days waiting for the launch of the next module. No posh lifting bodies-you gotta build that bit yourself, like with the stock landers. Well, you said it should give ideas to new players-so here's one I've seen a lot-a detachable nose cone. OK, so in stock it doesn't do anything, but it's a cool idea and looks good. It's lights are designed to illuminate the target while docking Inspired by your talk of linear RCS I added this on-usefull for docking And only one action group-which extends the solar panels Dowload link https://www.dropbox.com/s/l08598vyy8wetqg/Orbital%20Station%20Tug%201A.craft

Feedback on new series please? [KSP with mods]

Feedback eh? Well what got me straight away was your voice. You are way to quiet, and the video audio is very quiet as well. My reccomendation is to speak up and amplify the volume during editing. -
Tintin XK-FLR6 Classic Rocket
randomness5555 replied to HafCoJoe's topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
Hah, Awsome. That was the first book in the series I ever read, and a good replica. Can I reccomend the kerb paint mod? With that you could (to some extent) get it the same colour as well.
