[1.8.1-1] [PLEASE FORK ME] Kopernicus & KittopiaTech
panarchist replied to Thomas P.'s topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
GPP, OPM, JNSQ, Extrasolar, and Other Worlds. There are others out there that are also good, but those are the ones I've liked the best. The first three are all by Galileo and his crew - and they're typically a notch above most planet packs IMO. They do amazing work. -
When downgrading in Steam, Steam only replaces the game files that Steam installs - i.e. it doesn't touch any of the installed mods, nor the save game directories. If you want to ensure you're not going to have problems, do the following: 1. Copy the "saves" subfolder to another location FIRST. Don't touch this copy. If you need to do anything with it, copy the copy, and work with that second copy. ZIP the first copy if you need to - this ensures that you have a known good backup of your save games. 2. Screenshot the directory list in GameData, so you know what mods are associated with those save games. Put that screenshot with the save folder copy. 3. Copy your GameData directory from Steam->steamapps->common->Kerbal Space Program to another location. Now you have known good copies of "GameData" and "saves". Also copy your Settings file from the KSP root directory. 4. Right-click on the KSP app in Steam, select Properties. Go to the "BETAS" tab. Select the desired version (ex. "1.8.1 - Kerbal Space Program"). Click "Close" 5. Steam will update to the selected version. When it finishes, copy the whole directory somewhere else - this is your "play" copy. It will never update on its own. 6. If there are problems with either the mods or the game saves, copy from your backups into the "play" directory of KSP to resolve. 7. Change your Steam copy from the BETA version back to the current version. This directory will now update and remain current. Steam doesn't care about anything it didn't install, and the default behavior is to not mess with mods. 8. Learn how to edit the settings file, config files, the persistence file in your game save, and about the various utilities people made to do that easier. The particulars are beyond the scope of this post, but if you're going to play a modded game and not use CKAN, then you owe it to yourself and the community to educate yourself about how the game works and how to fix simple and medium-complexity issues. That's not a slam on you or anyone individually. I've been playing KSP for over 6 years, so the hard part for me is remembering what's automatic for me isn't for everyone else. Some of us had a hard time with the learning curve, but we did it, and our game experiences are far greater as a result. Above all, let's treat each other with kindness and respect. It's easy to get upset when a game doesn't work, especially when one pays for it, and it's easy to get frustrated with modders, even though we're getting those for free. They don't have to do this, and it's a seriously thankless job to make mods, take over mods, do beta testing, or moderate forums. Our first response in any of these threads should be to assume that the other person is a decent human being who is not deliberately trying to antagonize us or ruin our game. Because they're not - we're all just trying to enjoy it.

Universal Storage II [1.3.1 and 1.4.5 - 1.7.0]
panarchist replied to Paul Kingtiger's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
@Daishi and @Paul Kingtiger - you guys have done an amazing job making US and US2 compatible with a host of different mods. I was wondering if you'd share your modlists - what do you two load up during those times where you actually want to play KSP?- 1,581 replies

Nice work! Are you also thinking of returning to the old DarkSide Technologies mod? It'd be awesome to see the hab and other parts updated to 1.9.x. (honestly, there's probably very little that needs updating)
-
Nice - any chance you might post the craft files to Kerbal-X? These look pretty awesome to fly!

Universal Storage II [1.3.1 and 1.4.5 - 1.7.0]
panarchist replied to Paul Kingtiger's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
What game mode are you playing in? Career, Science, or Sandbox? Kerbalism science parts have a lot of weird interactions in Sandbox, so if you're seeing issues there, you might bring it up in the Kerbalism thread. Also, if you're not in career, try starting a new game in career mode and see if the behavior exists there. (So you don't have to play for hours first, start the game with the science and money sliders all the way up so you can "buy" the research center upgrades and as many part nodes as possible) In any case, Kerbalism plugs into so much stuff, and the science parts act differently depending on game mode, so that's a useful piece of info for troubleshooting.- 1,581 replies

I don't know, actually - I was referencing the original Virginia colony mystery in the 1600s - as for what's actually happening to those Kerbals, your guess is as good as mine. :-)

No one knows for sure - and likely no one ever will.

Was the word "Croatoan" carved on a rock near the site? ;-)

Universal Storage II [1.3.1 and 1.4.5 - 1.7.0]
panarchist replied to Paul Kingtiger's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Per @Daishi on June 6th 2019 when I last asked this: "In the meantime we are including support for nitrogen (alongside that quirky, particular service module that used it as a propellant). For use in the stock game however, this part will just use monoprop."- 1,581 replies

Especially Chrome, and if you're running a browser AND KSP, you should make sure the browser is not set to use 3D hardware if that's an option. (the best course is as @5thHorseman said: open it in an image viewer - or view it in a browser on your phone, or a tablet, or another computer)

Thanks for that - I was aware of the SVE incompatibility, but I don't recall SVT being specifically called out before - probably I just missed it.

KSR Airports for Kerbinside Remastered
panarchist replied to AdmiralTigerclaw's topic in KSP1 Mod Development
There's a good article about it here: https://flyingwithfish.boardingarea.com/2013/01/19/airport-lingo-ramp-vs-apron-vs-tarmac/ The reason Tarmac is often used by the US military is that there is a longstanding habit in the service of referring to objects by their associated brand name, since generally if a product works, the supplier retains the government contract as long as possible. "Ramp" as used by the USAF refers to the area of the apron adjacent to the terminal or cargo loading area, or the area where mission-ready aircraft sit. General aircraft parking isn't usually referred to as the ramp - although I was Navy and it *was* 30 years ago, so terminology may have drifted a bit since then, or I could have been misinformed. -
Universal Storage II [1.3.1 and 1.4.5 - 1.7.0]
panarchist replied to Paul Kingtiger's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
What if it were just a 3.75 frame, and if you could only push it to a double height instead of a quad height? That wouldn't increase the part count but would still allow all of the wedge types to be used? Or would that be too difficult to implement for other reasons?- 1,581 replies

When you return to KSP modding, I'd be happy and thrilled to help beta test. Also, re: IVA design, happy to give constructive feedback and I have worked both Support and QA at various SaaS companies, so I can write a decent bug report.

[1.3.1 - 1.12.x] Outer Planets Mod [v2.2.11] [31st Aug 2024]
panarchist replied to Poodmund's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Also, OPM is dependent on Kopernicus, which isn't updated to 1.8.x yet. Please don't ask for an update in that thread, it's already been provided on the most recent page. -
[1.8.1-1] [PLEASE FORK ME] Kopernicus & KittopiaTech
panarchist replied to Thomas P.'s topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
@Thomas P., @Galileo and others - thanks so much for continuing to develop and test this while having to deal with 6+ pages of people pestering for updates in violation or ignorance of the forum policies. Every. single. update. I can't contribute to everyone's Patreon, but if any of you are ever up in Seattle (where I work) or Tacoma (where I live), hit me up with a PM and I'll buy you coffee, or a beer, or lunch. Seriously. -
[1.8.1] Kerbal Konstructs - 1.8.1.15 - 15.Dec.2019
panarchist replied to Ger_space's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Medsouz's last version is here: https://github.com/medsouz/Kerbal-Konstructs After that, Alpha Ash took it over, for KSP versions above 0.90. best of luck updating - I'm sure you know this, but be sure to back that save up before messing with it. There's still a lot of 0.24 and 0.90 mod versions out there, so you have a decent chance of getting things up and running on the older versions of KSP - there was a major breaking change somewhere between 1.0.5 and 1.3.x that may cause major havoc if you want to do updates all the way to 1.7.3 or 1.8.1. -
Working fine for me on 1.8.1 with custom suits, heads, and 8-ball.
-
You're not blind, and I may have assumed - I don't know if Blackheart's mods are on Github.
