Landing Gear Weight limits.
Gargamel replied to Leszek's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
Is that per wheel, or per landing gear? Ie, IIRC the small landing gear has two wheels, the medium has 4, etc. So the small would hold 7 tons or 14 tons? The medium 7 tons or 28 tons? Obviously, if it's per gear, that doesn't make sense.... so..... -
Yeah, but Bob doesn't know how to use the 3 seashells.

It's amazing the life skills that the scouts teach with out letting you know it's being taught.

Exactly, the toilet is the correct size for the activity involved. Think "baseball back stop" when designing a kerbal toilet. And I'd really hate to see what happens when you click "Spawn Vessel" in that screen shot!

Dangit @Kerbart, You're becoming a Pain in the rear!

New 5m fairing looks off...
Gargamel replied to Sean409's topic in KSP1 Technical Support (PC, unmodded installs)
I didn't think much of it, as the stock fairings have always done this as I mouse over them to show whats inside. -
Karman Crossing Challenge (Stock or mod)
Gargamel replied to Andetch's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
I'm not a challenge forum regular, but the simplicity and elegance of this one has piqued my interest. Once you guys work out the scoring, I'll toss my hate in the ring. That said, I didn't know challenge ideas needed a WiP thread of their own! -

Mod for changing part orientation - space station
Gargamel replied to smokedfx's topic in KSP1 Mods Discussions
KIS might be able to do this with an EVA. At the very least, you can send up another port, remove the first, see if you can re attach it in the correct orientation, if not, attach the new one. -
More like 32 steps to the left, then BOOM.

You mean like.... goes from red to yellow? You seem to imply there are colors other than red or yellow.

I'd be interested in seeing a link to that fan, I'm curious. Normally fans don't spin that fast, as cavitation losses would cause it to lose efficiency.
-
Not really, I just went with what was provided. Having read that thread, it seems it needs be fixed within that mod, or any mod that does this. Adding a mod to fix a mod doesn't seem right, when the authors are active.

Switcher Mods: how many do we really need?
Gargamel replied to Wolf Baginski's topic in KSP1 Mods Discussions
Yes, you can. Especially when you have a few that do the almost identical thing, cluttering up the GUI with redundant interfaces, which is the point of the OP. -
What engines have >0 min thrust? A MM patch should cover it. I literally just looked up how to write a MM patch for another item, and it seems fairly simple to write one that will set all your engines to have 0 min thrust, or a little longer if you want to do specific ones. https://github.com/sarbian/ModuleManager/wiki/Module-Manager-Handbook

Everything Has SAS?
Gargamel replied to DarkDrai's topic in KSP1 Technical Support (PC, unmodded installs)
Unless you have a mod that adds SAS to all parts, I'm afraid it might be this. But to double check, build a simple craft with the MK1 pod, and throw in a lvl 0 Pilot. You should only have one option, hold attitude, while engaging SAS. If you have more, there is something amiss. -
So, do we think 1.4.2 is it, or do we foresee a .3 on the way? Asking for a friend.

Yes, Yes, That was all very enlightening (very much so)..... But..... Nobody asked about this!? I'd love to see this show me the ship dang it!

Bad science in fiction Hall of Shame
Gargamel replied to peadar1987's topic in Science & Spaceflight
Depending on the exact plant, anywhere from a couple years to a couple decades. If we knew the plant..... Given we already have drugs that open and close the vascular structure on demand, and seeing as this series is set a ways in the future, if medical science progresses at the same rate that it has over the previous same period, I have no problems with drugs making you more resistant to high G loads for long durations. Our bodies are quite resilient to g load stress at it is (relatively speaking), I can easily see some pharmacological enhancements coming along to shore up the body. In the books (don't remember if the show addressed this), there were concerns about long term high dose usage of such drugs. -
Or more acutely aware of the risks.

New 5m fairing looks off...

Doing what? -
Some of those stock ships are left overs from before there was a career mode. They are just intended as design examples, not really as suggestion on how to do anything correctly. It would make for a interesting challenge idea though.

Fans are temp controlled, not usage, although one usually does lead to the other. And if you're describing a computer fan as noisy, it's time to go out and get some new fans with better bearings.

RTG effectiveness
Gargamel replied to GarrisonChisholm's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
And go from a $50,000 probe to a $350,000 probe. Those suckers aren't cheap. And they add mass which kills your Dv and TWR of the ion drive. -
KAS - Connector Port Link Option
Gargamel replied to i_like_kerbals's topic in KSP1 Mods Discussions
I find it interesting you are blaming a lack of features, features you don't agree with, and implementations you don't like in a mod as a failure. It's what the mod maker intended the mod to be. If they didn't like it, they would have changed it. But limiting yourself to the constraints placed on you by a mod is even more interesting. You don't have to follow them. You can add your own limitations. Play the game as you see fit. Anything else shows a lack of initiative and imagination.
