  1. Good for: making repeated missions to Mun and Minmus easier by parking a taxi vehicle on the station for refueling only having to launch a new crew for the next mission instead of another transfer vehicle and lander loading experiments into a lab, to use them maybe a second time if you already loaded them into another one storing copies of every experiment ever in orbit (I always bring two back home if possible, gives crews something to do in their ship's lab while flying to another planet) labwork for experiments done around the KSC (labbing on Kerbin's surface has a data penalty)
  2. Problems (that start before even thinking of any 21st century gender issues): The poll - as any other - represents not the percentage of female KSP players, but the percentage of KSP players that visit the forums, choose to participate in this poll and are female. But I concur with the "vote what you identify as" or "feel closest to", and I also sympathize with the sentinment to ignore polls that do not offer answers appropriate to my situation.
  3. Now that he is back, you can go, we do not need you anymore! Kidding of course, hello to all new and recurring players above and below this post!
  4. @BobCat Where was this picture taken?
  5. For me it is always only relevant/interesting when ambiguous humor is involved (because it changes the level of laughter on my part when I know) or when it gets jokingly flirty. But generally - when it is not obvious otherwise - while online my brain tends to complement the lack of this specific information by assuming I am dealing with gendeless 14y-old minds. Sometimes this does not even change a bit should more information become available! And: I am more surprised this gameplay-irrelevant thread is still in this part of the forums than anything else? Hm ... I only know one (Tanuki) of them. Don't know? Are we supposed to guess? OK: Rename the main characters to Spike, Rarity, Applejack and Octavia in every new save? I usually rushed to get the lifeextending potion, because I did not want anyone to die. Or I used killing roommates off as a way to accumulate more money in one household without overcrowding the place. Post of the week!
  6. Cheating is doing anything that gives you an advantage and at the same time puts another person at a disadvantage. You cannot cheat in a single player game outside of the rules set for challenges in which you wish to publicly partake.
  7. I remember ... but I do not remember what happens after 68 years? And, is it a 32bit limitation that will be corrected by 64bit?
  8. Photorealistic graphics were never planned or intended for KSP.
  9. Again someone has left the stage. http://www.theguardian.com/film/2016/jan/14/alan-rickman-giant-of-british-film-and-theatre-dies-at-69 http://imgur.com/gallery/XZ09S

    RIP Bowie

Something to lighten the mood perhaps? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P4d8QrRJvsE
  11. Not necessarily specific mods, but what they do in a way that satisfies the player (ME!) and works with the base game. Displaying altitude above ground at the top dial when the navball is in surface mode. An editor that allows more control over alignment in the form of specific degrees and stuff. Something like precise node, the handles are just not handy and difficult to click and use when looking elsewhere. Something like alarm clock for multi mission and transfer window logistics. Building (adding small parts) in space and connect vessels with fuel lines. Individual Kerbal names, faces and suit colors and even more visuals and the like: collision effects, rover sounds, clouds ...
  12. I am so close to nitpicking on the title of this challenge, but I shut up and just smile. Like the idea! Not sure if I will get to trying it, but a question nevertheless (might help others still), must the whole ship return or are drop tanks in order? Because drop tanks with engines = probes to land on planets.
  13. As it makes it easier - or even possible in the first place (see post in the DevNotes) - to sell the game on console specific vendor platforms, it will help development for sure and is therefore not a waste of dev time. Adding the system to the PC version too, just gets the most out of the time invested IMHO. It does not have to be much, syncing with Steam - and the other (console) platforms - and putting the new graphics into the already established system there. And ingame (i.e. PC version) it could be as simple as a notification like any contract and a new tab in the science or administration building.
  14. OK, rewind a little - where did your "NASA represents humanity" complaint come from?
  15. Where did you specify that your object has no mass?
  16. Although, if you really manage to fix something in space ... shouldn't everything else be drawn towards it?
  17. Alternatively everyone should close their eyes until humanity can agree to work together and speak with one voice? Say, in another couple million years?
  18. Something that does not make sense to me - since gravity does not go away and some movement should always take place?

    RIP Bowie

Strange how we humans build connections. I never was a Bowie fan, I actually never was a real fan of any group or singer and I am always quite bad at telling who made which song or even knowing the actual title of a song. But with Cmdr Hadfield's ISS cover simultaneously reminding me of hearing the song in my kindergarden times (no, I am not that old, but it obviously was already a classic only 15 years later) and coinciding with my growing love for little green men in space, and with Starman so very well placed in The Martian, and of course the songs being really great to listen to - I felt sad. And since I got the news, whenever youtube presents me a video with any of these two songs, I have to click and listen. Closing words from the obituary in Die Zeit (German newspaper): "The cancer has shattered his fourth, sixth, x-th comeback. But he will not break down David Bowie's work for eternity. Never."
  20. You mean ... the goo is a lie?? OK, now that I used that meme myself, I should finally start playing the game myself, no?
  21. Its velocity relative to everything being 0 is something I could never get my head around. If I am standing still in a big room and people are dancing around me, then each and every one will always have a relative velocity to me. Maybe you are thinking of something that does not move relative to the universe, standing still in space? As gravity has unlimited range, something will start to pull on it, so it will not keep in one place for very long.
  22. That approach seems to be working for you quite well.
  23. We can only guess at the risk for a crew making the same voyage with todays technology. In Weir's future NASA has access to radiation shielding materials that are effective enough to allow them to be worked into the rather thin hab canvas. Being able to do that, shielding a rover, EVA-suit or spaceship is rather easy.
